Salvation scriptures, according to Strong's concordance is a deliverance.

The reason that many of God's children believe they have to respond to receive salvation, is because the scriptures do teach that a salvation (deliverance) is accomplished, by a child of God's good works, that they receive, while they sojourn here on earth.

There is an eternal deliverance, for all of those that God gave to his Son, and that deliverance was accomplished on the cross, by Jesus sacrifice to God, for God's acceptance, and not to mankind, for mankind's acceptance.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

In context with all of the Word, faith, without works is DEAD.

Either we have to make choices to follow in faith or we don't. While sin disgraces the image of God which we were created in, it also disparages the image of God to assert that we will only always make the wrong choices if left completely to ourselves, even though made in His image. Following Him restores that image to its full glory, but falling does not completely reduce us to automaton dogs, though continuing in sin may well bring us fairly close to it.

Yes, without spiritual faith, that comes as a fruit of the Holy Spirit, it is impossible to please God. This is why the natural being, before he has been quickened to the new spiritual life, with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, cannot please God.

The scriptures tell us that there are two different worlds that are under consideration;

The world under consideration in John 3:16 is the world of believers. that God loves. John 15:16, Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the world (that God does not love) hate you, ye know that it hated me, before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

John 16:19-20, Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do you inquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?

Verily, Verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice, and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall turn into joy.

John 17:9, I pray for them. I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me, for they are thine.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Are you going to ignore the verses before verse 13? Verse 4 - chosen us, Verse 5 - according to the good pleasure of HIS will. Verse 6 - made us accepted. Verse 9 - having made known to us. Verse 11 - being pre-destinated according to his will.

Our eternal salvation was promised, for all of those that his Father gave him, on the cross by the redemption of their sins, without the loss of any.

A knowledge of the gospel is not the cause of anyone's eternal salvation (deliverance). When a born again child of God matures enough to come unto a knowledge of the gospel, (which is the earnest of their possession on the cross) he is delivered (saved) from his ignorance of the gospel.

We do not have spiritual faith, which is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, until we are quickened with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the new birth. We are born (spiritually) unto good works.
