He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?.. Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
[John 14:21-24]

To the biblically untrained person, one might think that the love of the father is conditional upon obedience to the Word and loving Jesus, but we all know that God is love and we know the verse that says, God so loved the World.

I think it is event that he is speaking Jews in the preChristian age.

Any thoughts?

The Lost Sheep:
Regardless of one’s background, Jew or gentile, our goal in this teaching is to show how there is ONE God, ONE body, ONE faith! The time will soon come when He will gather us all together as ONE flock, and He will be our Shepherd.

I didn’t intend to mean that the promise in the OP wasn’t true, it’s true that if you keep his commandments (not Torah Law) and love whom he sent - Jesus, that God will love you. I don’t have to understate all, just like the Trinity that I don’t understand.

faith is not having it all figured out, it is a trust and belief.
