It's just as simple as talking to Him.
You see, Christianity is not just another religion. It is based on a relationship with Jesus. As He Himself said in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
The plan of salvation is exceedingly simple. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” To learn and grow, you will need to read your Bible, but all you need to do to get started is to call out to Him and let Him come into you and be your Lord and Savior. He has made all the provisions for this long ago. Now, He simply awaits your decision. Just say yes like the thief on the cross...
Luke 23:
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Now I shall tell you the background and the Gospel.
In the beginning, God created the world and man. All was good until man decided to disobey God and do his own thing. Since then, man and the world he lives in has been cursed. It took the death of Jesus, the Son of God, to set things right.
John 3:
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Just tell Jesus that you are willing to confess your need for Him and His salvation and ask Him into your heart to stay. Do it today. Right now would be a fine time.

Also trust that Jesus paid the death penalty for your sins when He willingly sacraficed His life on the cross..

The best way to know the Lord is to read your Bible and join a Bible believing church. Also, come here and ask questions.
New believers get bombarded with so much information from well meaning people so if you can identify a person or 2 that seem particularly helpful you may want to ask them to help privately.
