Hey Everyone,
Normally, a thread like this has to get to at least a few pages before the effect REALLY starts to kick in (because people will stop reading posts,) but let's see how far we can go.
Every now and then, I like to put up a thread to see how many people will read the OP before answering, and how many will answer after only reading the title. I understand that my posts are often too long for most to read, but that doesn't change the fact that the results are always fascinating to see.
Let's have a little fun and see what happens.
This thread is inspired by an issue of Country Living magazine, which I recently (as in yesterday) discovered that I had been reading for 4 months straight, but had never noticed their "Find The Horseshoe" Contest before. (Sometimes magazines have a "find this image" in each issue and you can either win prizes or just recognition for finding said items.)
I always have a split reaction when encountering these kinds of contests because I'm generally not competitive at all. This part of me will say, "Walk away Seoul, there's nothing to see here," while at the same time, my makeshift OCD automatically kicks and and says, "WHAT? A hidden image??? YOU ARE NOT PUTTING THIS DOWN UNTIL YOU FIND IT!"
Now I really do give it an honest-to-goodness try. Honest. I REALLY do. But if I can't find that dang-blasted image by the 3rd flip-through... Well, I'm neither happy nor proud to admit it, but yes... I am most likely to resort to cheating.
I start looking up answers either on the interwebs, other issues of the magazine that contain the key, or I bring out The Big Guns -- my Mom. Hey, I didn't give her the nickname "Eagle Eyes" for nothing. She once spotted an almost completely submerged alligator that was basking slightly above the water -- in pond. in the very far-off distance. while my Dad was driving us down a highway. And all because she knew I was wanting to see one.
When I asked her how in the world she spotted it, she just shrugged and said, "I picked out the shape of his snout."
And so, if there is a Hidden Image to be found, I am confident that out of all people, My Secret Weapon of Mass Inspection will be the one to find it. And NO, I've NEVER DARED to even so much as look at a "Where's Waldo" print long enough to be tempted. I KNOW even one run at those things would turn me into a hopeless cause, forever staring out onto the horizon, envisioning everything in red and white stripes.
And so, I am interested in our fellow audience here on CC.
How are YOU when it comes to:
* Video games?
* Rubik's Cube, The Missing Link, etc?
* Sudoko, Crossword puzzles, etc.?
* Jigsaw puzzles?
* Escape rooms?
* Anything that requires a special "key," "code," or "answer"?
If something absolutely stumps you, do you continue to 1. Work it out, 2. Give up, or 3. Resort to finding an answer somewhere else?!?
In other words...
* How Likely Are YOU to CHEAT? *
I'm looking forward to hearing your answers!
And, NO judgments here! I know all too well that sometimes we just need a little help.
