lol Let me hash this out for you and I mean this with honesty because I like discussing things with you in other topics .

Right now, you yourself did the thing I just said.
Basically what everyone says (including you right now) is that : this isn’t the Jesus of the Bible.
Yes we know that! I know that !
Also I know that this is a movie.

So now the real issue is that you don’t like people who watch this show and turn to God (like many atheists have done) because it’s not the same as the Bible.

Is this how you found God for the first time in your life? Through the Bible? Guess what? Many haven’t. They found God through a million different things and then they went to the Bible later.
So, what is your problem with people who find God in different ways from yours?
"So now the real issue is that you don’t like people who watch this show and turn to God (like many atheists have done) because it’s not the same as the Bible."

Well you can read my mind it seems, okay no worries we can move on.

My problem is this.

"I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me."

But my question is this ....can you tell me where all these people are and their testimonies of conversion?

What are you talking about?
How did you find God? It’s a legitimate question.

Let me tell you how I found God. I happen to have existential questions when I was 15, then went into a church, heard and saw a lot of things there and then after 2 years I signed up for Bible school at the church and got more involved. So the Bible was the last thing and this is how most people find God. They’re either born into a religious family or they have an interesting encounter with someone or some thing or hear a song or any other million ways. Then after deciding if they want to believe or not, they continue the journey which leads them further into God and the Bible.
My cousin’s kids who are raised into an atheist family, heard about Jesus in school at the third grade. So now they’re interested. Guess what? No Bible there either.
And if you’re born into a religious family? That’s not how parents explain God to a six year old anyway. They explain it differently from the Bible.

So do you see why I say that? It seems like people hate others for arriving at God in different ways.
Nobody or very very few learn about God for the first time by reading the Bible word for word. And if you did good for you, but don’t condemn others for coming at God from different angles. A song, a movie, a dream, a church, a journey into a different land, a word heard from a friend or a stranger, etc etc.
In countries where the Bible is taught in schools, they don’t teach the Bible word for word like you would prefer it, they tell toddlers simple concepts first and then they go word for word when they’re into the 8th grade.

Then to complicate things further, it also depends what Bible you’re reading and who is doing the teaching but let’s not go there. I’m talking about first steps of an unbeliever.

One can only come to the Father by hearing the full gospel, so unless they hear the clear gospel preached the medium does not matter.

Billy Graham preached the Gospel, generally speaking movies, songs and stories do not preach the Gospel. Television evangelists preach the Gospel, the Gospel is in the scripture and it could be in a movie in an indirect way.

Learning about Jesus as an historical figure is not enough, it may pique someone's interest which is fine, but the person needs to be persuaded of its truth as it applies to them.
There is only one gate.
Sorry but those are God's terms, salvation does not come by osmosis.

Okay, so now coming back full circle this means that you and others don’t like anything else except your interpretation on how to approach God and of course I know that deep down inside you want to link this to salvation, but I just want to let you know that this is not Christianity. This is team sports now.

Are you telling me that you believe there are many ways to receive eternal life?

I’m telling you that you condemning HOW people approach God is something that you should really consider because you’re opening yourself up to so many things which are insane in my view. I don’t even know where to begin.
Think about children (dying), think about free-will, think about your own journey when you first heard about God and think about how you’re putting barriers on HOW people are approaching an omnipresent God.

Well if you believe the words of Jesus on any level, He makes the how very clear......

Ye must be born again?

How?

By agreeing with God we can never earn our salvation because God requires perfection, so we agree with Him that we are sinners, cease from dead works and accept His free gift of salvation by trusting the all sufficient work of Christ Jesus on our behalf who died for us and conquered death through His resurrection.

Since Christ Jesus fulfilled the law and conquered death He has the gift of His righteousness He can impute to us by our believing and trusting in Him for it.

That is the one and only way! Full Stop!!

Sigh. I don’t know what to tell you.
How about this: Before the New Testament was written, how do you think people learned about God and Jesus Christ?
Guess what? Through Sound and the word of mouth.
Either way, I thank you for the discussion.

At my church, everyone I've heard from likes 'The Chosen' and are fans & wears the gear offered with Christian mottos on them. Some have fishes and loaves, 'Not What We Were' written on tees and other msgs (no pride flags). After watching every episode, I honestly don't see how the pride flag detracts from the overall Gospel message. Sure, the director has stated many times, they have added dialogue that could be similar to personal banter between the Disciples and I have found something I didn't agree with but many on the chat side did but not to the point of tossing the show.
I think if we follow Jesus, we should not be scared of unbelievers but, by them being around us they have a chance of seeing up close and personal how staunch we are about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. As someone said, Jesus got the business for eating with sinners. Picking apart a sentence that was said re the Law of Moses and actually misquoting it to make a point is in itself wrong.
I also like the movie Ben-Hur as was mentioned earlier as depicting Jesus to their liking. While I watch it every year, I could slam it for not showing the actual bloodied body Jesus had on the Cross, like the majority of artists paint. This issue is major to my thinking.
Some of the scenes in The Chosen are superb and I don't see the pride flag as taking down the whole series.
Note: all this said in a benign manner🙏😇

What does the Chosen have to do with children dying??

If you want to talk about children dying, bring up the fact that it's the reprobates that kill them. Jesus covered that. Do a word search in the KJV for Mill stone.

Jesus said in Genesis 18

"“And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;”

I'm of the opinion that God heard the cry of the children. He listens to their prayers.

Absolutely they learned by word of mouth, does not negate that there is only one GATE we enter for the gift of eternal life! :)

Yes, but what I keep saying here is that the problem seems to be with you having a problem with HOW people approach God.
This isn’t a Salvation issue …. Yet. It’s about How people get to God for the first time and then get to know the Bible and then get to learn the message of salvation.
This is why you’re not understanding me perhaps because if you think about this yourself, everything in life is a journey. You’re not born knowledgeable with the Bible immediately, you hear a song about God, you think about it for a while or for months, then you go to a church and then read the Bible And then you become somewhat knowledgeable with the Bible.
I mean, how do you teach your kids about driving a car at 16 for the first time? Just give them the keys and let them go in rush hour traffic?

I never once stated one size fits all.
So I am not really sure why you keeping making this case.

We have no data points on the benefits nor the detrimental effects on people of the series The Chosen so the whole conversation is basically meaningless.

I understand your point, however, it is interesting the Muslim faith continues to grow and they do not make a single movie.
Yeah and for the record I missed the word "need" on this statement.
The Muslem faith grows because of the number of children they have not because of movies that was the point.

But rather than ask for clarification or elaboration @Magenta decided she had to point out error rather than deal with the compromised nature of the show.

They decided to let the flag show in a promo video, when it could have been edited it out.

Then they did not apologize to the fans who have crowd funded the show but rather made excuses oh well don't expect us to be perfect.

In what way does having a gay pride flag in the background of a scene which goes out to the public honor Jesus.

And to top it off members of the cast have posted on Twitter their disdain for the audience, the very people who funded the show.

The Chosen gets positive remarks in the comment box that fly by so fast from people all over the world, it's amazing. There are a few critics trying condemn the whole show but they're not stopping people who are being encouraged by it, meeting Jesus through it and some receiving healing. The season finale of Jesus walking on water and pulling sinking Peter up had everyone in tears,
If the LGBTQ community sees the flag, gee, maybe they'll watch the show and see who Jesus is. That should be the goal to reach those who haven't been introduced to the Love of Jesus and then some will want more and hopefully see the error in their carnal nature's ruling their lives. I doubt if a pride flag is going to lure any true Christian into sin, well maybe judging them as outcasts will occur. If a Christian person was seen at a dinner with crooks and prostitutes how fast would some of us want to shut them down claiming they love sin. Well Jesus' mission was to reach those in sin not just appease the rest of us sinners saved by grace.
BTW, I think it was this Thread that mentioned the movie Jesus Revolution as being 'another worldly movie. It happens to be the story of my Pastor who was in the world and his journey to salvation. He now has a great ministry not only in SoCal but his messages reach all over the world. He is Greg Laurie.

Oh gosh, that video is more than THREE HOURS long! Can you do a synopsis on it before I decide it would be worth it to watch the whole thing or not???
The title says it all. Just start watching; if it doesn't grab you in the first 10 or 15 minutes then forget it. I can't do it justice by trying to summarize it. All I can say is it's a reality check.

Since you've posted a vid about some of the greatest soul savers in our time, check out this article about the shady 'spokesman' who is targeting these worldwide evangelists. Then decide who is in darkness.
Please read this expose on the critical narrator in the vid and his record of sins. How he pulled this off and made a business of this is remarkable.

The author of that hit piece was J. D. Hall. Hall's off the radar at the present time after being kicked out of his church for abusing drugs and arrested for DUI and threatening his wife and children with a knife. Unlike Hall's accusations against Chavez, Hall's problems are all thoroughly documented through public records. That's reality; but I have a feeling reality isn't something you traffic in.
