If I wanted to kill time I would play a video game.

In fact that's what I do when there is nothing interesting here, in our chat, with my family or otherwise. I play video games when there's nothing better to do.

The time I spend here I consider much more profitable than the time I spend playing games.

Hi @listenyoumustAll,

I first joined CC in 2009 when the main chat room was very active. I came here because I was in a very lost and broken time in my life, and I was looking for some kind of fellowship to fill that gaping space. I was active in my church, but for some reason, just not connecting with people there.

Back then, I admittedly spent almost all my free time here on CC, but it paid off. I eventually made friends, have been to 2 small group meetups, and have met somewhere around 25-30 people from the site in person over the years. Many have come and gone, but the fact that there are always new people to meet right around the corner keeps me coming back!

You never know when God might send a new friend or someone you can help across your path. This spring, I received 2 wedding invitations from CC peeps and unfortunately, I can't make it this time, but it's nice to know I could visit them if I'm ever in the area, or vice versa.

To me, this site is all about connecting people, even though it takes a lot of time and a whole lot of work.

But even if it doesn't result in meeting someone in person, I am positive that the time we spend praying for, talking to, and trying to help people here is never wasted in the sight of God. :)

May God bless your time here!

And even if some are on CC just to kill time... There are worse things to do.

Popular song a couple or three years ago:
I am so freaking bored
Nothing to do today
I guess I'll sit around
And medicate

Line from a drunk in a video game, Wasteland 2:
"Buddy, you got troubles!
You should try booze.
It doesn't help, but... It's something to do."

So... What do YOU do to kill time?

You don't have anything that you do when there is nothing else to do?

Even if you just sit and stare at the wall, staring at the wall is what you do when there's nothing else to do.

Ooooh, now that IS fun!

What program are you using?

I use Reaper myself - gloomy name (they had a naming contest and that won) but great program and not very expensive.

What virtual instruments are you using?

I use Synth1 a lot. You can do almost anything with Synth1, and it's freeeeeee! :D I also use some payware stuff - RealGuitar, RealStrat, Jamstix. (Yeah Jamstix is technically cheating, but it gives me the drum line I need.) Actually I could use Synth1 for everything, but it would be a ton of more work...

FL is another good one. I'd probably be using it if I hadn't found Reaper first.

Actually for pure music making FL is probably better. Reaper can do a lot, but it's easy to get lost.

Oh yeah, you said something else. Sorry, I forgot that part.

Sure if you want to upload it to soundcloud or box.com or something and give me a link. I'll give it a listen.

Be sure to tell me what you're trying for, so I can tell if it sounds to me like you hit what you were aiming at.

What kind of video games do you play? Do you do any co-op? I would like to play some co-op video games with other Christians but they're hard to find.

I play the Borderlands/Wonderlands shooter-looters games and I do play co-op with other B/W co-op players but they're complete strangers. I'll play a random dungeon and then never play with the same people. But I would really like a steady group of Christians to play with.

I also love those farming/crafting games like My Time at Portia and would like some Christian co-op players for those as well where they can resource gather and fight/defend their areas together. It's also a nice place to gather and do Bible study too!

Also would love to try playing survival games in co-op mode like Subnautica, Raft and Generation Zero because I'm too afraid to do them alone (monsters/enemies are too scary!).

Nah, I'm more into the story of a game. Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, Final Fantasy 7, Dust: An Elysian Tale, stuff like that.

It's like reading a book, but even better! :D

None of those are co-op. But the games I mentioned have stories too? Just so you know, I'm not interested in playing co-op to find romance. I would really just like some steady Christians to play co-op video games with. It's really been very difficult to find them.
