In those days Holy Spirit anointing was given to some individually and for His good purpose.
We now have our Savior indwelling.

Hmm? They didn't have God's spirit in the church in Acts? David didn't have an ephod to take up?

Proverbs was written by David, Old Testament, long before Christ.
I'm done, this is too unfruitful.
best wishes:)

1: Who mentioned Proverbs?
2: What does that have to do with David repeatedly asking God's advice AND repeatedly asking his friends' advice? I'm talking about places in the Bible where David did things, not proverbs he wrote.
3: You haven't even addressed the examples in Acts.

Frustrating, I know. I can't imagine God likes it when we put people on ignore, but when I do it, it's usually because their presence offers more bad than good. I haven't put Moses on ignore, but to avoid sinning, I may have to at some point.

Aww we all have that one person that pushes our buttons. I always say I hope if I could meet these people at a coffee shop we could find something in common. But I highly doubt it with RA. lol God better put a lot of distance between he and I in heaven.:ROFL:

"What is this?", he asked, as he saw something lying in a bush.

"Oh, it is a monkey wrench," he replied to himself.

"What shall I do with it?", he thought to himself, and then a little voice told him, "Pick it up, and throw it in the engine."

CLANK!!!!

WHIRR!!!!

BANG!!!!

What about a scenario where one is defending their country, and God is the one who stirred up the invading army against it?

For example, when the ten northern tribes of Israel were invaded by the Assyrians on their way to captivity, God is the one who stirred the king of Assyria up against them.

Isaiah 10:5-6

"O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets."

Should the hypocritical Israelites, who were at that time the people of God's wrath, have fought against the king of Assyria and his invading armies who were the rod of God's anger?

Or what about when the two southern tribes went into Babylonian captivity?

Jeremiah 25:9

"Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations."

Should the tribes of Judah and Benjamin have fought against king Nebuchadnezzar, whom the LORD sent and called his servant, when he invaded their land on their way to captivity?

The Bible is loaded with warnings and examples of God stirring up invading armies.

Would it not stand to reason that to fight against armies which God had stirred up would be as futile as fighting against God himself?

The topic of war, defending one's homeland, etc. is not as cut and dried as some would have us to believe.

it is my opinion that if a citizen is not willing to support/fight for, whatever, his country, he should probably go be a leech somewhere else.... YMMV, of course.

You know, in all seriousness, there it won't matter. I think all of our questions will be answered, there'll be no disagreements, and no sinful personality traits to inflame those disagreements.

Tell that to the Japanese.

And, you're basically advocating for a complete strip-down of our military.

Did you actually think this through?

I did think it through, and I never said a word about a complete strip-down of our military. Instead, I simply stated, and rightly so, that there are many instances in scripture where God himself stirred up an invading army for corrective purposes. In such instances, to fight against such armies would be to fight against God.

At the same time, there are instances in the Bible where God did not stir up an invading army, and the people could rightly defend themselves against the same, or God himself fought against said armies.

My point was that it is not a cut and dried issue. In other words, there are times to yield to God's corrective measures, and there are times to fight against enemy forces. It takes prayer and discernment to see which of the two is the proper response or action.

By the way, I do not believe, for even a split second, that the United States of America is even a remotely righteous nation. Instead, i believe that it is one of the most wicked nations on the face of the earth. Perhaps not as overtly as some other nations, but definitely covertly. There are times in scripture where God does not deal with a nation until its sins are come to the full, and I believe that this scenario applies to the USA. In other words, I believe that the USA still has an end-times purpose to fulfill, and then God will deal with it justly.

Doing nothing at all is what was pathetic. As I pointed out, there is other ways to be of service to your country besides serving in the military. I'll change the 'sad' to a 'happy'.
Thanks and I agree with you

In America, for example, should a believer help their country during a national crisis based on what the scriptures actually say?

Or is it okay to do nothing at all?
Well, there IS 2 Timothy 2:3-4 ... Join me in suffering, like a good soldier in Christ Jesus. A soldier refrains from entangling himself in civilian affairs

Doing nothing is not an option. We should:

Pray, for our country and it's people

Understand what scripture says about the time to come, and not fight against what prophesy has forewarned.

Prepare for what was forewarned, both physically and spiritually

Pray that brothers and sisters not be deceived by the false prophets who would draw them away from their first love (ie God's truths and ways).
