What are your dreams/goals in your life, that you have either put on hold or haven't realized yet, and wish to pursue in the future? You may list any dreams/goals you want, however major or less "serious". Also, keep in mind that some dreams are more up to God, whereas others are more within our control and it is more a matter of getting off our bottoms.

One dream I have is to raise a kitten/puppy into very elderly age. The animals I have had were adopted at an older age or did not live their full lives.

Another dream is to improve my swimming.

I am not trying to be funny, sarcastic, or anything but honest in my reply.

Basically, I awoke from my dream state a long time ago. In other words, I came to the conclusion or understanding, after evaluating how God had continually been working in my life, that my sole purpose is to serve him in whatever way he chooses. Although I am not sure exactly what he wants me to do in relation to others, he does continually show me areas where I need to improve myself, so I just keep working on those. In his parable about the vine and the branches, Jesus said that the Father purges or prunes the branches which are abiding in Christ that they might produce more fruit. Presently, I am definitely getting pruned.

In summary, I really do not have any dreams anymore. I am not trying to sound super spiritual or anything; especially in that I just admitted that I do not even know what to do at the moment except to work on myself. Like I said, I am just being honest.

I am getting closer and closer to the end, more than I want to be! Somewhere in the back of my mind I believed there was a purpose in my life, some event or opportunity that would come along and make everything worth while. Something would eventually make an impact.

A light is beginning to dawn, there has been no such event, there has been no noticeable impact and there never will be. No sermon, no poem, no song, no great movement; those are for others to accomplish and for me to celebrate. Instead, there have been a thousand little things, things hardly noticed, things and choices rarely though about or understood that were mine. Did I answer more than I missed?

My dreams are to more clearly see those tiny, barely noticeable opportunities and to finish them out.

Wow!

I can totally relate to what you said here.

I often feel like my life has been meaningless where the things of God are concerned, but I have at least shared the gospel with thousands of people (some were large groups of people), and I certainly have prayed a lot for others, so, hopefully, something good has or will come out of that. I always thought that I would be an evangelist or pastor, but I am just seemingly fading away into obscurity. The final chapter has not been written yet, and I hope that the book of my life ends well. I would hate to stand before Jesus one day empty-handed as far as impacted souls are concerned.

By the way, those hardly noticed or barely noticeable things have not escaped the Lord's eyes.

God bless you.

Some people would call me boring.

Some would call me lazy.

Some would say I have no ambition. They would be right.

I never have wanted to start a big career or make a name for myself. I never did really care how big the house I lived in or the car I drove was. I never wanted to go see big sights or other countries. (I am however willing to drive a far piece to meet with a group of friends, whatever they happen to be doing wherever we have a meetup.)

Some might make a case for me being selfish. They would be able to make a good case. I have been told I'm intelligent, but I never bothered getting a degree as a doctor or anything else useful. I haven't even so much as opened a computer repair business.

I'm happy to work at my factory or fast food job, help people where it is feasible to help them and live my quiet little life. It's a lot more peaceful, and I think in my own way I do a lot of good.

I'm content with that.

I've been to 48 states
And a few different worlds
I've seen the blind tour guides

Been to one province in Canada (Ontario) and lived in Germany for 9 months. Haven't visited any other worlds though. Will have to put that on my bucket list.

Dreams... Well, mine do seem to be in conflict with God's will for my life, and it is with that that I struggle... in pain.

* I dream to have a good job.

* I dream to be able to have a good retirement and tell the working world, which has pooped on me over and over again, to stick it.

* I dream for a beautiful woman to come home to every day. The loneliness of my home has become even more acute in recent weeks, and I'm sick of a libido that I must treat like an enemy.

* I want friends & buddies (preferably Christian) here in AZ whom I can hang with. I do almost everything alone.

* I long for a purpose in my life. No, not the generic purpose(s) all Christians have, but one specific to me... one that justifies my existence.

* I long to see my country (the US) kneel before Christ and repent -- this side of the millennial period.

Oh shoot! I just realized I never did answer your question.

I don't really have any major dreams or goals. I will probably work at a factory job or fast food place until it is no longer feasible for me to have a job, then retire. I'll take care of grandma until she dies, then probably migrate to Northeast Tennessee and take care of my brother. He has mild paranoid schizophrenia and that condition always gets worse every year. I'll also probably wind up taking care of my dad when he gets old enough he can't do for himself.

There might yet be a wife somewhere along the way. But I don't yet know who she is.

All together a rather quiet life, which suits me exactly. Peace beats excitement any day, and comfort and security beat adventure hands down.

So many things I thought would bring me happiness
Some dreams that are realities today
Such an irony, the things that mean the most to me
Are the memories that I've made along the way

Dude, you're putting me to shame. Except for the last item, not a single spiritual thing on my list. Although... I'd say that leaving this life with works that will not burn up at my judgment time is a concern I have, and something I pray about nearly daily.

Well you are definitely thinking the same. I have the same concerns. It is difficult to give into faith knowing even my best efforts to achieve my goal will be either fruitless or limited if I operate out of my own strength. But I also know where I wish to be on my spiritual discipline is not where I want to be. I'm further than when I gave it all to Christ but I suppose that is the walk for everyone. Not a sprint but a walk. May God bless you in your walk and work in your heart of humility.

I struggle too brother with chronic pain. I know the struggles of living paycheck to paycheck. The struggles of being a Christian male in a culture dominated by indecency. More and more of us are seeing the ills of the internet generations where social anxiety is on the rise, loneliness has skyrocketed, and many seek devastating alternatives to erase the pain. Satan knows if he can get the 1 to leave the 99 and that 1 ignores the pursuit of Jesus then a lamb alone will fall prey to the predators or the elements of the wilderness. The thorns and vines will choke them out before they are mature enough to know they must abide in the Good Shepherd.

You need not question your purpose as God has made our purpose clear. Share the good news, love God, love those who are lost, speak truth in love, and surrender our will to His will. If God speaks in scripture that we are to forgive then we forgive, if He says to resist temptation then we resist.

But not by our power alone, we lean on the Helper the Holy Spirit who helps in all things spiritual.

The country is evident of sin and evil but that same sin and evil creates a vacuum of desperation due to the absence of true love. It is a void of selfishness and wickedness where true love will not be found.

We understand the loneliness, the pain, the regrets, the failures, and the heartache within the void as we all were brought out and saved from such darkness. Which for us makes it easy to respond. We know what they need even if they do not yet understand or accept they need what we have to offer.

Our country is ripe for either harvest or judgment but either way in a harvest there is a reaping of both the weeds and the tares.

Ha... I'm a prideful little cus. I believe God has been showing me that. I am trying hard to be humble and to act it, but you know what a challenge that is.

Well, that's what I was talking about -- that's general and applies to every Christian. You have a ministry you've started. Someone else here has something different. Another has an entirely different calling.

Our country is ripe for either harvest or judgment but either way in a harvest there is a reaping of both the weeds and the tares.
I am aware of the state of things. In fact, I am surprised to see just how bad it is, but God always knew it was there. It is only now being revealed to human eyes. This might be good. We can only fight the disease when we know it's there.
