I disagree with that. The left has gotten so extreme that traditional Americans appear far right to them.
That is the correct Christian perspective, in my opinion, and would also be in line with the founders' perspectives as well, as I understand them.

But true. You came in swinging and then say you're tired of being punched.
I understand, but I am tired of the left and right. We need to vote center. I'm pro-life, but for better social justice for all.

Our economy was so much better when we had a Republican in office. The one we have now is the Inflation/Open Border President who lies every time he opens his mouth.

That is true. Our economy was better under a Republican, but our economy was good under the second half of the Obama administration also.

The Left has gone crazy, and the Right has, more or less, stayed where it's been for years. We on the Right are not the radicals, and we are (generally) not the problem. If you go center, then you are inching Left into crazyland because the Left has gone into truly wacko territory.

Leftism is the only bonafide fascist movement in the US. Not Conservatism. Fascism evolved out a socialism, a Leftist phenomenon. It, like its brother communism, uses street mobs to intimidate its political opposition (BLM, Antifa, Hitler's SA, Mao's Red Guard, Mussolini's Black Shirts), using divisiveness to get infighting within the people (mask/no mask, vaccine/no vaccine, critical race theory, social justice), uses crises to generate fear (climate change, covid)... and all of this to silence opposing narratives, to get the people fighting so we're not watching those in power and we cry out for order, and to get us so afraid that we surrender our liberties for "temporary" emergency powers that are never relinquished. That is ALL coming from the Left today. None of it is coming from the Right. Trump had the perfect opportunity to militarize and collectivize the population -- Covid. But, he didn't. If he is a fascist, he's the worst in history.

The Right is nuts, I guess, because we want freedom of speech and belief preserved. I guess we're also crazy because we support a man who put onto the SCOTUS three originalist judges who are there to CONSERVE our religious liberties, federalism, and all of the other constitutional safeguards against an over-arching government. That PROVES he's a dictator, I guess, because preserving the constitution is the surest road to tyranny.

What about the massacres that happen at schools? Would absolute anarchy be a solution, or banning semi autos. I'd go with the latter.

Our founding forefathers would be rolling over in their graves if they could see how the left is trying to destroy our Constitution.

Yeah, but the right is banning freedom of speech also, and the most extreme are even wanting to ban interracial marriage. Both parties are at fault. Frack Trump, Frack Biden.

Yeah, I know my original post contains politics, but that is why I will be leaving this site for a while, cos politics shouldn't even be a thing here
Politics is a part of life here, even during the Millennial reign there will be a government, so it stands to reason that political topics are discussed in forums such as this.

Social justice is a far left concept. No where near center. Center is smack dab in the middle of the world... not a good place for a Believer to be.

Yeah, but that gov't in the millenial reign would not be tied to two parties. :)

In countries where guns have been banned for private ownership, knives and other weapons are used to murder. You're greatly mistaken in your thinking. The 2nd amendment that protects citizens' ownership of all types of guns is a national asset.

Yeah, I know my original post contains politics, but that is why I will be leaving this site for a while, cos politics shouldn't even be a thing here
1.) That may be your view, but it may not be everyone's view....
if everyone is entitled to their views, and entitled to free speech, then we end up with everyone sharing their views.

2.) It's not likely you've been getting into any debates about politics here, unless you were doing your part to engage in the debates.... so it's likely you are also responsible for some of the discomfort.

3.) There are different areas of the forum for different things: we should expect debates in some areas, but not in others... we can choose what things we'd like to participate in.

4.) Why is everything so political and divisive right now, not just on CC, but throughout western culture?
a. We live in a time when cultural issues have been stretched apart, intentionally stretched apart beyond any semblance of reason.
b. This stretching apart of every conceivable cultural issue has created deep division, and this has all been intentional.
c. The natural result of these intentionally created divisions is to turn every little matter into a vicious polarizing battle.
d. All of this has been intentional, and it's been effective. All societies in western civilization are being ripped apart.
e. THIS IS THE WORLD WE CURRENTLY INHABIT. IT IS WHAT IT IS.

CLOSING THOUGHTS:
- I hope you enjoy your time away, and I hope you're well and blessed.
- However, as long as CC is a place where free speech is allowed, you will always hear some opinions you dislike.
- Hearing opinions you dislike... that is the unavoidable blessing, and curse, of free speech.
- The only way for one party to stop opinions they dislike, really stop them, is to impose their will on others and take away their rights to speak. Throughout history, the right to speak freely has been seldom seen. It has always been a rare thing. The founders of the U.S. never had it under the rule of monarchs. Most people, throughout history, never had it. Most people, throughout all of human history, have never had freedom of speech. That is why the founders of the U.S. were careful to enshrine it in the founding documents... because it is rare, and uncommon, and precious.

Amen, and I like your logical approach to these. Maybe the rift in our society could be a sign that Jesus is returning, and we should rejoice together. :) And I am proud of freedom of speech. We, as the US are ranked very highly (top 13 as of 2023 out of nearly 200 countries, with only a few Nordic countries and a few other rich tiny nations above us) as one of the nations with the most free speech, even in this era of divisiveness. Would never trade free speech away. And yeah, I shouldn't have joined the political thread discussion. That is my fault. Now, it is time that we overtake those Nordic countries*.

I absolutely agree great (y)(y) post Maxwell, and there are some that want to censor peoples words because they don't agree with it. We are entitled to Freedom of Speech that is the 1st amendment in our Constitution.

That's your counter-argument? Seriously? To everything I wrote?? Wow.

The mindset in the body of Christ in this nation regarding politics is painful.

We have mass shootings in recent decades in the US. But, our nation has always had guns. Why, in the past few decades, have we started to see this brand of wickedness? Because there is a falling away happening in the US. And, the church bears some responsibility, at least, for that.

We are the salt (preservative) and the light. If we fail to do our jobs, which we have, the nation will rot.

This has nothing to do with 2nd amendment rights. And, you want fascism? Disarm the people. SMH

Thhaaaaaat's right... If you need a qualifier before the word "justice", it ceases to be justice. Justice simply is.

"Social" justice is the opposite. It fights for special privileges based on group. That is, definitionally, bigotry.

The Right is not banning freedom of speech. We are cancelling no one. Do you have an example?

No conservative pundit I follow or heard ever said what Leftist nut Joy Reid said on MSNBC, that free speech was white supremacist (and therefore bad). Also, there was an editorial in The NY Times just a week or two ago that said in order to preserve democracy, we must do away with elections. Not making that up.

So... let's run a tally here... No more elections, set one half of the population at the necks of the other half, silence all opposing (non-Left) narratives, tell the people that the State, not the parents, owns the kids, and then make all of the people defenseless... yeah, nothing of that speaks to rising tyranny. And, it's all coming from Trumpian Republicans!

Oh wait... oops, sorry... it's all coming from the Left.
