In recent times I am avidly reading English history, especially the Tudor and Stuart periods. I am appalled at the violence, killing, burning and torture that went on especially between Catholics and protestants. I am disgusted at how much was done by 'Christians' to anyone who didn't do things as they wanted. I want no association with it because I love peace.

I know it's nothing new, maybe I am naive, but I was not that well acquainted with these histories. What I am sure of now is I will not go to church nor ally myself with any denomination ever again.

I do believe in the Bible, in Jesus Christ and in the love of God. But I study and worship in private and will never allow anyone to control me nor will I argue or try to pressure anyone into believing as I do. So no, I won't evangelise, I won't knock on doors.

The Bible is available everywhere, whosoever wants to read it and follow Jesus can do so, or not. Each man's soul is their own responsibility. Yes give children the knowledge, give them the good example of living lovingly according to obedience to God, but no pressure.

Does anyone feel as I do? Especially if you are a reader of history?

The Bible tells us some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. Some churches are caving into the lgbtq agenda. We are to love sinners but not their sin. Religion saves no one it is about a relationship with Jesus. As long as you have accepted the gift of salvation admitting you are a sinner, believe that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again, and call upon his name to save you then you are a born again Christian. We can not earn our salvation it is about grace and mercy. We will have good deeds after we are saved not in order to earn our salvation. Hope this helps. Love, Janice

It isn't just royals, or Catholic vs Protestant, Irish vs English, Jew vs any one of God's enemies, Muslim vs whomever... this violence, killing, burning and torture is shot through human history starting with Cain and Abel. There really isn't any escaping it, just by avoiding going to church. Whatchagonnado? Say you want nothing to do with humanity? Hide away in your room? I do understand your loathing for the violence, and desire for peace. I wonder how many people I have heard say something along the lines of, I refuse to call myself a Christian. You know what I never see? Is someone saying I refuse to call myself a human being. You may as well. It is human nature that is to blame.

I understand what you're saying, but I do hope you won't give up on trying to find other believers with whom to fellowship. Not those who play church or religion though. Salvation is a relationship not a religion or denomination. But I've seen so many people who decide to go their own way who become arrogant know-it-alls who are unteachable and unable to connect with any other believers because they think they're above them.

Please keep in mind today most who say they are Christian are not truly Christian, we must be Spiritual, not carnal, in relationship, not holding to an outward form, as Jesus taught of this time before His coming again, these last few years there has been a flood of people around me who have become Spirit filled.
blessings:)

are you appalled at all the violence since adam & eve? why just what you mentioned? do not obviate your love of Jesus & a spirit-joy filled life by picking the events in 1 epoch of time. Jesus is not war & violence. Jesus taught not to war with 1 another. people choose it. since Jesus is all that is wonderful, focus on what Jesus has done in the past, present & especially the future. you may create burdens mentally , physically & spiritually within yourself because your thoughts & practices are drawn away from Jesus. don't do this to yourself. it's silly to allow the past to reshape your future in a defeatist way. blessings to you.

Yes, I fully accept Christ, I believe in the Bible. But I don't have any faith in people or the church.

I have read history and I fully understand and agree with your feelings.

I recognize two "Churches". One is the man-made church with its ugliness AND its beauty. One cannot read history without also recognizing this duality. In the mist of the very real evil, there are acts of beauty and faith.

But there is also a second "Church". This is the creation of those people throughout history who really believe and live out their faith no matter their circumstances. They do this sometimes in spite of the "Church". They walk through their lives helping feed the hungry and supporting the widows and orphans, all by themselves. Every day is their mission trip. They evangelize no-one with words, they just try their best to live out their faith daily as they best understand. This is the "Church" which will never fail.

My choice has been to not leave the first "Church". I have found one that does not violate my conscience and so strive within it's boundaries to speak and live the second "Church" so long as possible.

Membership in the second "Church" is absolute for me. Not so the first.

My God bless you in your travels.

Most if not all by now have been hurt by religions and people. The adversary has his minions and are more regular that most who claim to be Christian in churches today, yet He is calling His remnant together in obedience and relationship, noticed your prayer life becoming mre powerful?

“When the Lord your God delivers [the Canaanites] over to you, you shall conquer them and utterly
destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them.” Deuteronomy 7:2

In I Samuel 15:3, God told Saul through Samuel to “go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have,
and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.”

Deuteronomy 20:16 However, in the cities of the nations that the LORD your God
is giving you as an inheritance, you must not leave alive anything that breathes.

Joshua 6:17 Now the city and everything in it must be devoted to the LORD for destruction. Only Rahab
the prostitute and all those with her in her house will live, because she hid the spies we sent.

Numbers 31:17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones,
and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

Isaiah 14:21-22 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers;
that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

I can understand that people can let us down, but there is a friend (Jesus) that sticks closer than a brother. He will not disappoint us. In God We Trust!

Earlier, since the fall, you must go back to the fall, nor Cain and Abel, that is where we veared off course from His plan.
Ever since He has continued His plan to redeem His Creation.

I've had it with automobiles. Some people have used them to deliberately hit other people. I'm never driving a car again!

I hate computers. Some people use them to hack other people's accounts and steal money from them. Computers should be illegal!

Ahem...

What I mean to say is, sure there are jerks in the world. There are some in churches just like there are some in almost every group of people. That doesn't mean churches in general are bad.

I think the way things are going as we near the end, that church institutions as a whole are growing more corrupt, so I can understand why more people are leaving them but not God. You can still keep in touch with those who remain faithful without having to go to church.

Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

This passage makes no mention of having to go to a church institution. Just keep meeting together with godly people!
