Matthew 6

Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come,------------------- Day of the Lord
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread
12 And forgive us our debts, -------------------------sins
As we also have forgiven our debtors-----------those who have sinned against us
13 And lead us not into temptation, ------ (the trial) a.k.a Great Tribulation
But deliver us from evil----(one)----- antichrist

This prayer was designed for the righteous ( christians ) who will enter the tribulation

To Jesus disciples like Peter the apostle ? Who became the church and we’re commanded to teach the same things to all people in the gospel

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭23:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

this is spoken to Jesus disciples who believe in him and are learning from him it doesnt matter that it was first spoken to the Jews it was then preached to gentiles by those few Jews the remnant of Israel who believed around five hundred at the first

What Jesus taught is for anyone who believes

Good stuff as always. But my point was that all scripture has an intended audience and must first make sense in terms of them. There is always broader application for more than the original audience, to be sure.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

- Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)

Jesus is teaching us how to pray. He is giving whoever is praying, whether in the past (like the disciples) or Christians today, a model of the proper way to pray. A Christian is a disciple, too. :)

Preparation time for the disciples
You made specific application for some of the prayer. Why wouldn't that apply to the people it was written to?

Did a blog on "The Lord's Prayer," for those interested you can find it Here

And Our Lord gave it (twice in Matt 6v9-13 and Luke 11v2-4) to the Church, the Body of Christ, for use throughout the whole of the age of Grace, and not just to Christians in the Great Tribulation!

IMO it was written for the righteous in the Tribulation
I understand that. I got that from your original posts. I'm asking questions to see if there is a biblical basis for it. I'm seeking truth and before accepting what someone says, I want to know if it concurs with scripture.

Take Matthew 24 for example, to me it all takes place in the tribulation

I understand that also from other threads. But you also believe we are approaching that tribulation now. But those scriptures were written to first century Jews. How do you believe they understood them?

I will answer are we approaching the tribulation. Everyone ought to be aware of what is happening now in Israel is setting the stage for the antichrist to appear to bring peace and security to Israel and other nations and also to build the temple. The foremost friend of Israel is America, but it appears America is not able, or willing or due to a civil war, wars, earthquakes, ect, to help Israel preceding the tribulation and this set's the door open for someone to replace America.

We are starting to enter a time of turmoil we have never seen before and it will get worse. IMO the Tribulation will begin in less than 2 years.

Not really. And "Thy Kingdom Come " is definitely NOT about the Day of the Lord.
Is it not the Day we seek??

2 Thess 2 Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our assembling to meet him, we beg you, brethren, 2 not to be quickly shaken in mind or excited, either by spirit or by word, or by letter purporting to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.

And if it doesn't? Will you assume it is further in the future? Will terrible economic times mean the tribulation has begun? If there were nuclear devastation, would that be it? What if those both occurred and Jesus doesn't return? What does that mean?

And if it doesn't? Will you assume it is further in the future? Answer--No--I am at the end of my journey and the pieces all fit for me concerning his coming. I gave you my personal understanding of scriptures and I understand everyone growth varies but unless you can understand all the scriptures and how they fit like a puzzle concerning his coming you will keep relentlessly searching. But my journey with the Lord is over and I am satisfied.

I understand. But I'm not searching for an answer here. I know what I believe and why. I was interested in what you believe and why. And I appreciate you taking the time to share. Thank you.

Is it not the Day we seek??
Why would anyone seek the day of the LORD?
Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. (Isa 13:6)
Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. (Isa 13:9)
Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. (Joel 1:15)
And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it? (Joel 2:11)

"The day of Christ" is completely different, and is the day of the Resurrection/Rapture. 2 Thess 2:2 has the wrong term, which has led to much confusion.

You only see half the picture!!

Acts 2:20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.
