they're both called Wine
Excuse me for asking... but where do you, and others, get this idea that the definition of the word "wine", throughout time, has any other meaning than fermented drink (grape or otherwise)?
I honestly have never heard of this idea outside of Christian, legalist, arguments. And have checked over the years in reference materials and the definition has remained consistently... that it's use is for fermented drink (i.e. alcoholic) only.

Okay.

My understanding is that juice is not wine... just because you put it into a wineskin, doesn't change vocabulary.
But hey, it's your life... live it anyway you want.

really?

I. Ancient Evidence.
There is ancient evidence that non-alcoholic drinks were still called “wine.” In ancient times drinks were called “wine” that ranged anywhere from pure grape juice all the way to vinegar. There is evidence from ancient times that drinks called “wine” were prepared and consumed that were non-alcoholic.

Could you cite the source, please? I suspect that it's religiously biased... denominationally/doctrinally so.

it's scientific evidence.
you know, just the Science of studying how people did things.

example:

look at how we DATE Parchment [Papyrus Paper]

we know the Oldest of times, this was glued
then thousand years later they sewed and glued
when Jesus was around, they doubled the papyrus leaves

why argue, what one Ancient Culture did for Writing or drinking wine, they ALL were doing because that was the only method.

Today, we use Trees for paper.
and Barrels to ferment wine.

this has nothing to do with denomination CRAP, and that's what Denominations are...CRAP!

1. Filtration:
Pliny the Elder wrote that the most suitable drink for all men was wine, “with strength reduced by the filter,” even explaining the difference between “must” and fermented wine (Natural History, 23.24). Plutarch devotes an entire discussion to whether wine should be strained, declaring wine 2 “cleansed” by a strainer, has its “strike and madness taken away” leaving one in a “mild and healthy state of mind” (Symposiacs, 693b 3-5). The BabylonianTalmud records debates reg

Okay.

But I do find it interesting that you won't cite a source... I think that it is the policy of this site to do so, to avoid plagiarism.

Conclusion.
We have seen in this study that not only did ancient peoples understand the process of fermentation but they practiced various methods to manipulate and impede this process. Such techniques were widespread and produced drinks that (while still referred to as “wine”) were not equivalent to the modern drinks we know by this name. If pagans, unconcerned with moral accountability before God utilized these techniques, it is reasonable to assume that Jews and Christians concerned with accountability to God for their sobriety would also make use of these techniques.

i don't cite things because if you actually WANTED TO KNOW THE TRUTH, you would have found it yourself.

but, you are very comfy, in your Denominational Baloney.

I think that's unjustified.

Firstly, I don't remember me saying that I am knowledgeable.

Nevertheless, I do, and have since my youth, enjoyed words and definitions... etymology as well. But it's more of a game than anything that would put in the ballpark of "knowledgeable".

Secondly, I don't belong to any denomination... at all.

Thirdly, I was merely asking for sources of any credible merit that holds a definition of "wine" as something other than a fermented drink.
You responded with your personal views and an uncited source.

your first post attacked me.
so, people only attack when they think what they know is more correct than the one they attack.

i believe Jesus drank wine that contained alcohol. Ephesians 5:18: "and be not drunk with wine where in is excess......." the verse says, "BE NOT DRUNK....." it doesn't say, "DON'T DRINK WINE". however, Proverbs 23:31,32 & Hosea 4:11 can be discerned as "don't drink wine.

OK, so now... post scriptures that say it was alcohol He was drinking....

You cannot prove from scripture Jesus was drinking alcoholic wine or freshly prepared wine which was not alcoholic due to not having fermented yet which is still called "wine" since it is the fruit of the vine.
Sounds alcoholic to me.

"Bottle of wine, fruit of the vine,
When you gonna let me get sober?
Leave me alone, let me go home,

Let me go back and start over."

I'm not sure where you see an attack in that? Nor any implications that others (who hold your view) are idiots.
But views that wine can refer to unfermented drink are elusive to me... in short, they aren't to be found!?!

Except, in writings of dogmatic, religious groups and people.

I asked, you can't provide... thanks for trying.
