I am sorry you took it the wrong way, since you insist here is a verse that applies to my situation;

from John 14:21;
""He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.""

and

JOHN 14:26;
""But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.""

Blessings.

Well, if you really want to understand Jews my first suggestion is not using terms like "completed" or "completed Jew" if you value any further discourse with said Jew. Even if you believe it, observant Jews don't and will find that extremely obnoxious and offensive.

I'm not mad or wagging my finger at you, just a friendly FYI.
It's a good point, even as you misunderstood my point. I'm not looking to complete Jews. I'm seeking to understand what the fulness of the provision a relationship with God truly entails. Understanding the stories, feasts, laws, etc., in the OT enhance this understanding and realization.
You came on this site and answered some questions and answers that you thought would benefit Christians. I followed up with questions that your answers provoked in me. But while answers are helpful, I also gain by understanding why people believe as they do.

Here's my advice... don't tell people what you think is inside their heads, you're not a mind reader and you'll likely be wrong.

It's also really obnoxious.

Besides that since you already believe you know what I'm thinking, if I say anything different you'll just think I'm lying or in denial anyway which makes any conversation a waste of time.

I appreciate the apology, but not necessary. I agree that the way we approach and broach a subject with others is important. I also think the way we receive other's approach is equally important. You have obviously dealt with more than a few Christians and it hasn't exactly been a pleasant set of experiences. I've found the same regardless of the group.
The richest of blessings.

Jewish is not a race. There are black Jews, white Jews and Asian Jews. It is true Jews were mostly black and semitic originally, but that has changed over the centuries obviously.
Welcome Aviva! So glad you came. Glad you are willing to talk to some of us "Jesus Freaks". Do you think you might have looked into Christianity if you had not been born into Judaism? We gentiles believe that we are all born into sin and must come into Christianity by choosing to invite Jesus into our hearts.

From reading the Old Testament, I would agree with your assessment about how Jewishness and Judaism were always inextricably tied together. God never tolerated atheism from any child of Abraham. Atheism was never an option for Jews in the eyes of the Father.

We, as Christians, do not believe that being outside of Christianity is acceptable for any human being since Jesus (who we believe will fill all your requirements very soon) came to Earth and died for everyone 2000 years ago. We believe that all who reject the Father's gift (Jesus) will be damned to eternal punishment in a Lake of Fire.

Have you ever considered reading the Gospel of John in our New Testament? John (a Jew himself) writes much about the future of Jews in another of his New Testament books; The Revelation.

Revelation, Chapter 12

1And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

2And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

3And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

4And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

5And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

6And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

7And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

8And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

12Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

13And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

14And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

15And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

16And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

17And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

As the title says, I'm an Orthodox Jewish woman. My Christian sister in law asked me to post a little about us since the subject has come up recently due to recent world issues to answer some confusion/misinformation.

1. Why don't you have sacrifices?
A. Because they can only be done at the temple in Jerusalem buy a Levitical priest. Since the temple no longer exists we can no longer do this.

2. How do you get forgiveness?
A. repent and make restitution, depending on the offended party. (G-d, a person, etc...)

3. What is the Talmud?
A. It is a large number of books containing very boring debates and commentary on the Torah. Although considered scripture it is not additional laws, it is opinions and rulings base don existing law (The Torah).

4. Why don't Jews believe in Jesus?
A. Because we do not believe he meets the requirements to be the Messiah. There are numerous commentaries online if you really want a deeper answer.

5. Do you believe in Hell, the Devil, or the afterlife?
A. No, not really and yes.

Cheers!
Hello Aviva,

That takes courage to approach a group about these topics and open up from another religion. Thanks for sharing your perspective. The handful of Jews that I know/ met who have talked about their faith had similar views. Some of my relatives are American Jews too.

You may like the courtesy of learning a little about some foundational beliefs of Evangelicals as well. I'll post a couple of basic foundational doctrines and a brief follow up video. I am very grateful someone took time to share this basic message with me. I hope that you will find it to be a blessing too.

1. God is known as Creator of the universe.
He said, "Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness."
Genesis 1:26
Verse 2
" The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."
Notice the plural pronoun for God, referring to Himself as "Us and Our."
The Spirit is mentioned as being involved.
Later Jesus is said to be the Creator.

2. Jesus the God-Man
Absolute God and 100% Man

1"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...
"He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: "

Who is this passage talking about?

"14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

This is the God -Man Who proved that He was God by many miracles, like creating matter before over ten thousand witnesses that He fed where He taught them. Over 500 Witnesses saw Him AFTER the resurrection. That would satisfy any court throughout history of the resurrection. None have ever required so many witnesses.
Note that He created the world back in the beginning too. The Son of God was mentioned in various places throughout the early books. Many of His own people recognized Him and many did not receive Him as their Messiah.

This is the Lamb without spot or blemish Who was sacrificed for all humanity, bled and died for our sins ( breaking of God's laws.)
He pictured all the sacrifices offered before Solomon's Temple and since then until the cross.

"By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;...18Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. "

3. He was sacrificed once for all sins throughout our lives. No other offering, even good deeds of our own doing are acceptable to God.
Why? We are not worthy sacrifices.
It took the sinless Son of God to be the sinless Messiah/ Christ.

Anyhow, that's a synopsis of Bible believing Christianity on who the Messiah was.
If you have any questions please feel free to quote my post and ask. I should get the notification.
To your health and happiness!

We'll see if you still feel that way in a week. I've read the four gospels and I'm well aware of what it says.
So you've read the four Gospels, and they have had absolutely no impact on your beliefs. Then why would you even be visiting a Christian forum?

Many Orthodox Jews have either read the Brit Chadashah (New Covenant) in Hebrew or the New Testament in English. Quite a few have also believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. Here is one example:

I'm not sure any of us are "confused" about what Orthodox Jews believe.

Can you tell us what "misinformation" you think we might have?

No need for the "quotes" as if I misspoke or am being misleading.

Why waste time saying what you just said.

Why not just answer the question?

What misinformation do you think we have that you can clear up about Orthodox Jews? That is precisely why you say you came here after all.

I have a more basic question. You indicate your nationality as Israel and your location as Canada. Have you lived in Israel and are you comfortable answering questions about that nation and its people?

Because when people frame a question in that way I assume I'm being baited, or the asker isn't really interested in my answer. You're obviously offended and waiting for something to attack. I'm not biting.

EDIT: You should also refrain from telling people what you think is in their head unless you're professing psychic abilities... especially someone you've only known for about 7 seconds.
Besides that since you already believe you know what I'm thinking, if I say anything different you'll just think I'm lying or in denial anyway which makes any conversation a waste of time.

Hmmm... I guess this only applies to OTHER people huh?

Let's get this straight.
You come to a Christian site because your sister in law says it'd be fun.
You say you want to clear up any confusion and misinformation we have about Orthodox Jews.
I ask what misinformation do we have.
You respond with an attempt to read my mind, something you have several times asked others not to do to you.

You DO NOT know my motivation for the question.

No, read what I said:

I find your tone demanding and and tinged with hostility which is why I responded the way I did. "Reading someone's mind" is like what ThyKingdomComeSoon did by saying "You think this, and you believe this and said this because you know this..." basically declaring my state of mind based on nothing but his own opinions.

Putting a word in quotes means you disagree with the person's assertions. It's like if I were to say "So I hear this is a "Christian" website." People would assume I was implying they weren't Christians and probably infer a tinge of hostility, which is what I did when you wrote your question in the way you did. What you asked was also, frankly, extremely broad. I don't know what people know and don't know and I was making it clear I was open to being asked questions rather then pontificating.

How strongly do the Israeli people support rebuilding the temple? Do Orthodox Jews fully support the rebuilding or are there diverse opinions? Do you believe the current war will lead to an increased effort to rebuild?
