He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

but Jesus said the Branch is Connected to Him, He uses the words [IN ME].
so, they are Believers.

2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit
This is why I asked you at the outset what is the subject. You said abiding. That is correct. So what is being taught is the difference between those who are truly abiding and those who are not. And the answer is...the ones who are abiding bear fruit.
The illustration is not dealing with the subject of eternal security. If it were, it would be told differently. Not every illustration makes every point. Otherwise, when Jesus commends the unjust steward, one could conclude that Jesus is advocating for sin. But we know He wasn't. And neither is Jesus teaching here that salvation can be lost.

this is why this makes more sense to me:

22. Many will say to me in that day, 'My Lord, my Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, and in your name have cast out demons, and have done many mighty works in your name?'
23. And then I will confess to them, 'I have never known you, remove yourselves far from me, you workers of evil.'
How can jesus say he never knew them, if they were attached to him (saved)

Jesus would be lying

But thanks for showing us you think cast in the fire is cast to hell.. they lost salvation

but i never said that.
i just present the facts of Scripture.
you can make your own conclusion, i don't have to do anything.

we can ONLY be a Branch connected to Christ if we are SAVED!!
the LOST, can never be connected to Christ as a Branch.

so, this is about the Saved, Jesus, is talking about.

Romans 8 teaches that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. This being the case, the use of...in me...here must have a different meaning and purpose.

so what do you think it means. Remembering you said it was not about salvation

From what I have studied, this is the great white throne judgement. It is for unbelievers only. "In that day" is the final judgment, and every knee shall bow......Hence the "my Lord,my lord."

The frightening thing to me is the fact that these people did MIGHTY works in His name and not one sin is mentioned. These were obviously, good , moral, upstanding and law abiding people. From what they claim they did for the Lord, we can assume they were church goers also.

Not one sin mentioned, but the Lord called them evildoers.

Why were they not saved? Thoughts?

look what Jesus said here:
5 He that overcomes, he shall be clothed in white raiment, and I will not blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.

so this reference:

22. Many will say to me in that day, 'My Lord, my Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, and in your name have cast out demons, and have done many mighty works in your name?'
^
have been blotted out.

why would Jesus know those who reject Him in the same way as those who obey Him?

He said they practices lawlessness. They practiced sin.

They were not saved because they did not believe..

These works they try to use shows they tried to earn salvation by works.. which is why they will speak of their works and boast in them

God still loves those who Reject Him.
He died for them, didn't He?
a DEAD Branch is someone who rejects Him to the point of not producing fruit.
and you cannot be a BRANCH unless you are first Saved.

Who has overcome the world?

1 John 5:4
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith

They were never born of god. Because they never had faith

does someone not know Jesus is speaking in those Verses on post #489?

because, last i remember, Jesus' Words outrank His Disciples.
and the Disciples would only be verifying Jesus' Words.
never the other way around

Yes we do

he who overcomes (he who is born of God) will not be blotted out.

and in that day many will say to me lord lord have I not done all these things in your name. And he will say depart from me FoR I NEVER KNEW YOU who practice lawlessness.

They were never saved.. Most likely they thought their works saved them, which means they had faith in self not Christ. Ad that is why Christ never knew them because they were never born again

Don't concentrate on the love but the separation from it. Are you suggesting that people in hell are not separated from the love of God?

By the way, John wrote what he was inspired by God to write. When you read the words of John, you are literally reading the words of God

John did not contradict Christ.

you can only not be producing fruit by personal choice, to become, a DEAD Branch.
so people, following a doctrine, that claims obeying God is a works and not godly, are removing themselves from doing God's Works and not producing Good Fruit.

Agreed. I should have payed more attention.

My point is that particular sins are not brought up, because Jesus Christ died for all sin. So what is judged are our deeds, our human works.......That is why religion is so dangerous. A good, moral, upstanding, law abiding life is as filthy rags to God.

Rev 20-12--And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.
