Salvation

Hi. I am wondering if anyone has any help, I have worried in case I have lost salvation with Jesus.
Is there a point where someone could be unable to repent and turn back to Jesus after rebelling and sinning for a season?
There are many scriptures warning of falling away from Christ and turning from Him.
2 Peter 2:20-22 and lots more scripture worry me.

Do you know that you were saved at some point? Did you repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ? Did you receive Him as your personal Lord and Savior? Was there a real change in your life after that? If you sincerely and genuinely turned to Christ for salvation at some point, then you cannot lose your salvation.

If after you were saved you rebelled and sinned for a season, and you understand this and wish to live for Christ, then you should go to God right now and confess all your sins and ask for His forgiveness. Then stop sinning and live righteously, doing God's will and seeking God's face daily.

Also, if you were not baptized when you received Christ, then that should be your first priority. Baptism will teach you symbolically that you died to your old sinful life, and now you will walk "in newness of life" with Christ.

If you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior ....there is nothing you can do to loose that salvation. It was freely given to you by grace .... you did nothing to earn it.... it was all done for you through Christ .... Salvation is permanent.
Your walk in the newness of life does require you ... to renew your mind to believe what was accomplished through Christ and accepted on our behalf...by God.
2 Peter_2:20 is talking about going back to your old ways (your walk) it is not talking about salvation. .... you can read this > returning to vomit.

The difference between stumbling and falling away is that when we stumble, we get back up. For example, the man in 1 Cor, who was having his father's wife was shunned by the church congregation and had his body delivered unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his soul might be saved. Then we see in 2 Cor that he was received back into fellowship after he repented.

2 Pet 3: 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Phil 3: 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.

The promise of the new covenant is that the Lord will put his commandments into our hearts and minds. So that we are given a miracle from the Lord when we seek him in scripture. This will renew our conscience to see sin as he does, little by little and empowers us to even forgive ourselves, even as the evil one accuses us.

EPH 2:4-6 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus,

5:24 “Truly, truly,(point of doctrine,listen close)I say to you, he who hears My Word, and believes Him who sent Me [in other words, believes the Father’s testimony concerning the Son], has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.”

3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

EPH 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, the gift of God;

ROM 11:29, for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable

ROM 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus Our Lord.

If you keep hardening your heart against God then yes, there IS a point of no return. So if you did rebel and sin for a season and you regret it, just come back to the Lord, simple as that (remember how overjoyed the father of the prodigal son was) and do so as soon as possible. Don't put it off!

Absolutely. Think about the prodigal son. The father saw him a long way off because he was hoping he would return. He also joyously welcomed him back.
Paul says this of the Jews who reject Jesus.
23 And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in; for God is able to graft them in again.

However, I suggest if we willing continue in sin, God will not accept us back.
26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

If we repent and ask God to forgive us, God will welcome us back.
10 In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

2. Peter 2.20-
you are not a pig rolling in the muck or a dog eating vomit, you are a sheep looking for your Shepherd.

1st, it is impossible to lose your salvation. many people believe you can. especially catholics, (not a derisive remark). think of this: if you lose your salvation when will you get it back? if you lose it, how many more times can you lose it. if you lose it who or what is going to tell you are eternally saved. another example: some catholics believe you are saved by works. impossible. read Ephessians 2:8,9,10. salvation is a 1 time event. read (1st John 5:10). any born again Christian can fall away a bit, called backsliding, but it's never forever. if it was forever, that person was never born again in the 1st place. anger can result in time gone by without repenting but there will be a time soon thru conviction of the Holy Spirit where you will repent. when we sin, we are rebelling because it's disobedience to God. all Christians are filled with the Holy Spirit & He's the 1 who will convict you of sin & then you will, by your Christian nature, act on the conviction with correction & soon forsaking that sin. since we're sinners by nature, our whole lives will be involved in admitting, identifying, recognizing & correcting sin. but you are always edifying, that's growing in grace & learning the obedience to Jesus. blessings to you.

All sin can be forgiven.

If we hold on to sin for a year it can still be forgiven as long as we truly do not want the sin anymore, but at the time you are holding on to sin the blood of Christ cannot wash it away which is why the Bible says if we sin wilfully then there is no more sacrifice for sin.

As long as you do not stop believing that Jesus is Lord and Savior then you can always get right by turning away from sin.

If you sin it can be forgiven and sinning is not falling away from Christ it is not being Christlike.

2 Peter 2:20-22 is a warning not to go back to the ways of the world but this can be corrected if a person turns away from the worldly ways.

No one comes to the Son unless the Father draws them, and no person says Jesus is the Lord but by the Holy Ghost.

If you confess Jesus as Lord and Savior in the correct way then God has called you and Jesus said He will never leave you, or forsake you.

So if you sin it can be forgiven, and while you sin Jesus is still there to convict you not to do it.

The kingdom on Earth will be restored to the Jews in the future which God did not cast off His people He once foreknew, but they are blinded in part until salvation is no longer available to the Gentiles, and so all Israel shall be saved.

And that is because the gifts and calling of God are without repentance on His part so if He called you He will not turn from it.

It would be us turning from Him by holding on to sin but it can be corrected for all sin can be forgiven.

Thank you. I gave my life to Jesus many years ago when I was young and had been homeless. It was a radical saving and I felt like a new person, repented from sin. I went through a season feeling God had left me and I was being constantly condemned. I thought there was no way back for me to God. I ended up wandering away because I thought I couldn't return, it broke my heart but my own sin and pain lead me to cry out to God again. I have been repenting for a few years now although I can't seem to shake this serious fear of condemnation and feeling afraid I'm too far gone for God or He doesn't love me. I can fall into a pit of hopelessness.
I don't know how to overcome it. It effects my daily life. I can't sense God right now or His voice, I read the Word daily and I'm pushing to pray but it feels like such a fight. The worst part is feeling it's not worth trying incase I am not truly a Christian or His child. I so desperately want that assurance of my salvation and sonship in Christ back again. I don't know how to heal this.
I've cried out all year, even for years. I have confessed known sins, I'm not wilfully sinning, although I do struggle with sin. I'm attending church, praying, reading, fasting, seeking. I'm so desperate for healed relationship with God. It torments me.

Stop looking at what YOU are, we are all that as well, some know it and some don't. You have to firmly fix your eyes upon Christ. What HE is. When God looks at you He sees only His Son IN YOU. Your life is now hid in Christ. You are as precious in God's eyes as Jesus Himself is.

But you have to BELIEVE these things ... the devil's job is to make you doubt.

I really need to focus on Christ and His work. Please pray I will believe and have strong faith again.

Salvation: 1st, what is it and were you truly saved to start with and if so, saved from what?

Salvation is initially being saved from the sins you've committed, not those you may commit in the future.

How are you saved according to scripture?

When you put ALL pertinent scriptures together to find out what they all say on the subject of being saved, you end up with tge following short list of requirements.
1. Belief and faith in Jesus Christ
2. Confession of your belief as did the Ethiopian eunuch as recorded in Acts 8
3. Repentance as was told to the Jews on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 verse 38; sorrow for your sins and a commitment to turn from them
4. Baptism into Christ (water immersion) for the forgiveness of your sins (Acts 2:38)

If you've done the above you were saved.

Can you lose your salvation? Yes, as described in scripture such as the Hebrew letter. They were cautioned to not renounce Christ and turn back to their old beliefs. If one does this, the bible says it's impossible to renew such a person unto repentance, Hebrews 6:6

"If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."

Unless you've renounced Christ and were in fact once saved, you can simply repent of your sins and Christ's blood will continue to cleanse you. 1 John 1:9
