I don't believe God must impede people's freewill to maintain their salvation. That is what OSAS teaches. Please read my comments carefully.
I did. I believe in OSAS and I don't believe God impedes individuals freewill to maintain their salvation. Either God is the author and finisher of our faith or He is not. If He is, OSAS is true. But He doesn't do so by compelling us. He does so by changing the desires of our hearts. Changed hearts choose God.

op: Security of the believer?
+ we maintain our salvation?
Both? Confusion? How about:

God's Gives Eternal Life, And Maintains it, Eternal Relationship!

We, on the other fellowship hand, Either maintain that "for rewards" or
forsake it, "losing rewards." Simplicity In Christ, eh?

Amen.

For me, I absolutely know of a certainty that I am a born again child of God. But I also know that I have the absolutely complete moral capability to turn against God and completely deny Him. Now, I have absolutely no intention of ever doing that, but I freely admit that I have that moral capability and freedom to choose that pathway.
For the sake of making this point, I'll assume that you are a genuinely born again child of God. Hallelujah! And you DO have the absolutely complete moral capability to turn against God and completely deny Him! I agree. But actions and morals in the body DO NOT and CANNOT negate the spiritual change that takes place in one's soul when becoming a new creation. That's like saying that immersing a body in water saves the soul. Two different realms. The change that takes place in the soul is permanent. And if the spirit that has been born from above COULD ever DIE and be separated from spiritual life, they it COULD NOT ever be brought back to the place of spiritual life again. But then again, that CANNOT happen.

sin can still land a punch on us from time to time
We have no control over that, and expectantly fall in to sin sometimes with no warning?

Is that how the rapist of child molester does their dirty deeds they just slip and rape or molest and can't help it?

I'm thinking the enemy is passing this kinda thinking around to get people to believe that we have no control over ourselves and we could bust out in to sinful behavior at any moment!

Man, I sure wouldn't want anybody that believes that to even know where I live, much less invite them over! (n)

We really should thank Him for His eternal security for us.

If one can never lose their salvation then they can keep doing sinful stuff and it's all good?

I've heard some people believe this and never repent from their sinful lifestyle.

are you better than they are? Have you achieved perfection? I would personally stop worrying about other people sins and worry about your own. And how you can serve those people

I don't live in sin and have no known sin in my life at all. The Holy Ghost empowered me to repent and quit doing what I know I should not be doing. Didn't he give this to you as well?

I dropped something on the floor the other days so I'm not perfect in the literal sense.

But those that belong to Christ HAVE crucified the flesh with its passions and desires - Galatians 5:24
Walk after the Spirit and you won't fulfill the desires of the flesh - Galatians 5:16

Did you know about these bible verses at all?

And what happened to I can do all things thru Christ that strengthens me - Philippians 4:13

Does this only apply to some Christians and other Christians can't help themselves and sin all the time?

I'm just paraphrasing the explanation in romans. If your going to go to extremes, look at what peter did, he definitely slipped badly, All I'm saying is there's a difference between continuing in sin, and someone who screws up, but makes and effort to correct the behavior. If we say we have no sin we decieve ourselves.

Yeah, before he got filled with the Holy Ghost.

1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Right at that moment we should be cleansed from all sin, unless 1 John 1:9 is not true?

1 John 3:6 says Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not

W#hat do we do with this verse?

1 John 2:1 says I write these things unto you, that ye sin not

1 John 3:8 says He that committeth sin is of the devil

1 Corinthians 15:34 says Awake to righteousness, and sin not

2 Corinthians 11:2 - For I have betrothed you to one husband, to present a pure virgin to Christ.

It's starting to sound like Christians are not supposed to be sinning!

glad you brought up john 1:9, obviously we're not supposed to be sinning as par the course, but as john also said, it happens sometimes, that's why he wrote that, the letter was written to a group of believers.

I've heard some people believe this and never repent from their sinful lifestyle.
From my experience, the folks who believe this have not grown in His Grace. They don't know Him Yet. Probably have to do bible class 101 for the first few thousand years in the eternal state.....If they had ever truly believed in Christ for their salvation.

Are you without sin?

I'm not currently doing anything in my life that I know to be sin. If I did something sinful the Holy Spirit would convict me of it and I would confess and forsake that sin immediately. I've been a believer for a lot of years so the Lord lets me know if I have messed up and I repent!

Saying we have no sin is referring to having never sinned and having no sin on our record at all due to never having sinned. It does not mean we cannot quit doing sin and after confessing and forsaking out sin we cannot be cleansed of ALL un-righteousness.

Do you believe 1 John 1:9 is true? Or, is it false and God never cleanses us of all un-righteousness.

So they can live in sin and still go to heaven?

Your reply seems to say they would still go to heaven if they lived a life of sin.

Is this even possible?

So...you always walk in the Spirit?
And if you are cleansed from all unrighteousness, would that qualify as being without sin?

I was referring to you. If you have to ask these things, you don't understand His Grace. I am assuming you're born-again. You will be in bible class 101 for a few thousand years in the eternal state before you get to play with the adults. More than likely, being taught by the guy you are referring to "who lived a life of sin."

And so someone like you will say that the "Christian" who decides to leave God (and decides he would be happier going to hell) was never saved to begin with: OK, I guess you can take that position if you like.

But God's love and mercy has surrounded me and enveloped me so powerfully that He is now everything and all to me: and He will always be everything and all to me: Hallelujah!
if you chose one day to deny him. Your called an antichrist.

and John said you were never of us.

so while you may claim you were of us.. I must go with John..

wait, I must be reading this wrong, are you saying peter wasn't saved when he serving christ or when he walked on water?

He denied the Lord before the infilling of the Holy Ghost was given at the day of Pentecost which empowers Christians for service.

Those that know their bible know there's a difference between getting born again and afterward getting filled with the Holy Ghost.

So...you always walk in the Spirit?
And if you are cleansed from all unrighteousness, would that qualify as being without sin?
Do you say you have no sin?
I go by what the scripture says. You are welcome to believe whatever it is that you';re going to believe.

Since 1 John 1:9 says God will cleanse us of ALL unrighteousness then I'll take that over those that doubt what God says in His Word. After that, I'm not going to willingly or knowingly engage in sinful behavior.

Those that are led by the Spirit are the sons of God (Romans 8:14) and He's certainly not leading me to go do sin.

If you have to ask these things, you don't understand His Grace

I'm questioning those who claim one can never lose their salvation.

Some hear people teach this un biblical message and believe it's true and so they continue living in sin and go to churches that tell them "well, you're still saved because you have a good heart" even though they are living in sin.

Many churches teach that all our future sins are already forgiven even before those sins are committed. Many who hear this think "wow! I can keep living in sin and still be saved cause it's all good" It's a stumbling block to others

John said if we say we have no sin (present tense) we decieve ourselves.

Well God taught me out of my bible that I should awake unto righteousness and sin not!

So you can worry about your sin, and I'll continue being led by the Holy Ghost Who does not lead me to sin!

Now, if you are talking about falling short of God's absolute perfection by making mistakes such as dropping something or not remembering to do something, then yes we make those types of mistakes which are totally different from sinful behavior.

I mean what kind of sin are you guys doing anyway? You folks believe you are supposed to sin every day ion thought word and deed because you were born a sinner and you cannot help it?

Here's one that irritates people like that:

1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from ALL sin.

Wow! How did thise get in the bible if it's not true???

1 John 3:6 says Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not

1 John 2:1 says I write these things unto you, that ye sin not

1 John 3:8 says He that committeth sin is of the devil

1 Corinthians 15:34 says Awake to righteousness, and sin not

It might be a good idea for you all to read ALL of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John!

Luke 22:31-32 ~ Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat...
I heard a loud voice saying in Heaven, “Now have come salvation and strength, and the Kingdom of our God,
and the power of His Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God
day and night. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father.
His Name is Jesus.

Well, I say go find a Grace bible church. Sit and study for a year or so. Get to know the Lord Jesus Christ and His Grace.......And you will get the answers you are looking for.

If you're asking these questions, you don't know Him that well yet. And you don't know His Grace that well yet.
