I am overjoyed by the prospect of spending eternity with the One who created the universe and all that's in it.

I am saddened by what's happening to our youth, especially in North America. They are being bombarded by satanic influences on a daily, even hourly basis. Quick story:

A few weeks back, I was transporting a young female mental patient back to her hometown, about 400 miles away. She had been transported to the mental hospital in my hometown by aircraft due to the seriousness of her condition. She was only 13.

After being discharged from the mental hospital, we began the long journey together. She asked if I would allow her to plug her phone into my car's console so she could listen to her music over the car's speakers. I agreed, primarily because I was curious to hear what she was listening to.

As expected, it was within the "gangsta rap" genre that so many parents in my state let their kids listen to. If you've never heard it, you are blessed. The "F" word is the focus word for most of it, and it gets even more vile from there.

One song, in particular, made my skin crawl. The rapper was speaking directly to the listener-- in this case, a girl barely 13 years old. He told her that, even though he and the rest of his buddies were in the process of raping her, he felt some empathy for her plight. Unfortunately, there was nothing he could do, so he was going to continue until they were finished with her. And it gets even more graphic from there.

I know this story is difficult, and I'm sorry. But I feel a real sense of urgency to intervene in some way. Don't you?

What kind of job do you do so i can tell you more what i think?

Why would you need to know what kind of job I do to have input on this subject? What I am hoping for is that you would make a commitment to join me in the fight for the safety of our children.

Hey fellow parents,

I don't normally browse the young adults forum because I am far from a young adult. But a post about smoking caught my eye this morning. Then, I read another one and another and another. Many of the posts have a common theme: The unrelenting attacks by Satan on our teenage children. He's using social media as a platform to draw young people into a very dark world, a world where mental illness, self-harming, and suicide are the norm. Needless to say, I got a real education by reading some of these posts.

As a father of an 11-year-old boy, I am concerned for his safety. While I am truly blessed to have him go to a private Christian school now, that could end due to unforeseen financial hardship or the school closing for some reason. Also, as a Christian parent, I know that there is only so much I can do to shelter him from such a cruel, oversexed, violent world.

I would ask every parent here to browse the young adult forum to see what's happening with our teenage children. Thanks in advance for your kind, thoughtful responses. Now I must dry the tears from my eyes, fall on my face, and pray for my son.

It fits here too. I did a research paper at West Virginia University on the topic, so I looked at a lot of studies, had a lot of experience teaching children, adults, and professionals.

Although this response is a bit snarky, I appreciate the input. I was beginning to wonder if there were any parents here on the forum, due to the lack of response.

I believe this fits into what I've been saying about the church as a whole for the past few years. Instead of a deep concern for what goes on in our communities, there tends to be total contempt for those who suffer. And our response is often void of any compassion. Just my perception.
