Howdy Fortunate and welcome to the forum.

I remember what one guy said when his daughter was going off to college. He gave her a dime and said, "Hold on to this and it will keep you out of trouble."

"Daddy how will one little dime keep me out of trouble? Is this some kind of good luck charm or something? You know I don't do all that superstition junk."

"Well, the trick is in how you hold it. If you hold it between your knees, it'll keep you out of trouble just fine."

From what I have observed, the more things a person has going on, the less time a person has to fool around with temptation. Like, ANY temptation. If a recovering alcoholic calls up his AA buddy and says "I just can't stop thinking about booze, man!" his AA friend will suggest doing something, like going for a motorcycle ride or fixing that toaster that is broken, or building a deck on the back of the house or something. (I learned that from a neat book called The Cracker Factory, and it proved to be legit what they really do.)

The best way to handle temptation seems to be keeping busy. If you got stuff going on, you don't got no time to mess around with stuff you shouldn't be getting into.

for many men & women in the world, that is the #1 temptation. it seems impossible that there is a solution. this is where the Christian is massively tested & tempted. i invented a solution process decades ago about handling sin.
it's called: 1. Admit
2. Identify
3. Recognize
4. Correct
so this is a breakdown & understanding of an issue. dismantling the issue, i believe, provides a better understanding to solve the issue. Jesus Christ is our healer, the absolute best! THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY TO SOLVE ANYTHING! totally learn this by believing & applying wisdom. ask God in the name of Jesus Christ to show you the solution. wisdom is beheld in the answer. wisdom also is "THE APPLICATION OF FACTS"! i got married roughly 7 & 1/2 years ago & after, once in a while, a pretty girl ( a fictitious girl), would enter my mind & i would entertain the thought of romance with her. well, quick recognition says that the devil wants you "in the temptation". it didn't take me long to forsake that behavior. i said, "devil, you & all you're about, get out". in the name of Jesus, by course. so i say to you, find a pattern in statement that even rhymes, a poem piece in other words & recite it repetitiously with a smile. smiling & laughing are great healers! capture the moment you are tempted, bring it to the forefront of your mind, concentrate on the removal of such temptation with all your might. build up your condition response heavily Fortunate & you will soon learn that the devil HAS TO FLEE in Jesus name. know this: THE DEVIL HAS NO POWER AGAINST THE BELIEVER UNLESS THE BELIEVER LETS HIM! after casting the devil out, immediately cogitate with joy, on the most important blessings God has given you. enjoy your upcoming weekend fortunate!

For me personally, I just don't want to deal with it. That stuff always brings drama with it. As I am allergic to drama, I don't mess with something I know will bring lots of drama.

There are three kinds of people who mess around with sexual temptation.
1. People who have not observed others and figured out that it always brings drama.
2. People who think they have figured out a way to play around and avoid the drama that comes with it.
3. People who tell themselves they can handle the drama.

The first is ignorance, which can be fixed. The second and third are lying to themselves, which is not so easy to fix.

And all three usually lead to drinking. Either drinking a lot of caffeine for the energy needed to handle the drama or drinking a lot of alcohol to try to ignore the drama for a while.

I would skip the AA buddy going for a motorcycle ride. He might end up with a(nother) DUI, or crash and kill himself or others.
