Moses: a type of Christ. For more reasons than you might think....

Two critical and often overlooked reasons:

1) Moses had to die BEFORE the Israelites could enter the promised land.

2) There will be a SECOND COMING of Moses. At the time of the tribulation.
That is what this contention regarding the body of Moses is all about.

Deu 34:5
So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
Deu 34:6
And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

Jde 1:9
Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Evidently, Satan wanted to use the body of Moses for some purpose (deceiving the children of Israel perhaps).
Or Satan was trying to PREVENT something of Gods plan to unfold that he understood to be very important.

And another salient aspect of Moses being a type of Christ:

The body of Moses almost certainly did not suffer decay.
Being in Gods very presence time and time again means having a glowing face and not needing to eat or drink 40 days in a row will have that effect upon a person.

Exo 24:18
So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

Exo 34:28
So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments

They both were hidden as babies because the leaders of the time wanted them dead. Divine providence kept them safe to do their roles in leading people out of oppression.

Ultimately the ambitious goal of Satan who was the sinister force behind these leaders.

Moses slew an Egyptian whom he saw beating an Israelite.
Christ will slay the antichrist when he seeks to destroy Israel.

Moses was away for 40 years after this, before he appeared again in Egypt.
Christ ascended 40 days after His resurrection.

Moses wanders the wilderness 40 years with Israel testing him and testing God.
Christ fasted for 40 days in the wilderness being tested by Satan.

Moses took a jewish, then a gentile wife.
Christ brought the gospel first to the jew, then to the gentiles.

Moses broke the tablets of the law.
Christ broke the power of it.

Moses wore a veil, hiding the glory on his face from people.
Christ veiled himself in humanity, hiding His divinity.

Moses was raised in pharaoh's household, an heir to the kingdom of Egypt, but identified himself with the slaves, setting aside his inheritance.

Christ is the King of Israel, but made Himself their servant, not taking the throne rightfully His.

Moses was a levite, and ruler over all the people

Christ is High Priest and King

second coming of moses? what the?? is this about the two witnesses? i take them to be about the church. as its the lampstands which are said to be churches in rev chapter 1

Of course.

Moses, being a prominent (very prominent) type of Christ, has his own second coming in a sense.

Moses was also an intercessor and mediator between God and men.

7Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go down at once, for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. 8How quickly they have turned aside from the way that I commanded them! They have made for themselves a molten calf and have bowed down to it. They have sacrificed to it and said, ‘These, O Israel, are your gods, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.’ ”
9The LORD also said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and they are indeed a stiff-necked people. 10Now leave Me alone, so that My anger may burn against them and consume them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”
11But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God, saying, “O LORD, why does Your anger burn against Your people, whom You brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? 12Why should the Egyptians declare, ‘He brought them out with evil intent, to kill them in the mountains and wipe them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your fierce anger and relent from doing harm to Your people. 13Remember Your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, to whom You swore by Your very self when You declared, ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give your descendants all this land that I have promised, and it shall be their inheritance forever.’ ”
14So the LORD relented from the calamity He had threatened to bring on His people.

I would hope that the inevitability of Moses "second coming" would be enough for you to refresh and correct your eschatology.
But I for some reason I think that it won't regardless.
