Hello all, I just wanted to throw this out there to break the ice.... maybe even meet others in the same situation. I'd love to chat on a message-by-message or post basis. I'm not quite sure how to continue my journey on my own and reading online freaks me out lol... things like my faith will fail if I don't have friends and other posts that honestly make me feel bad for not knowing how to do the tasks I need to. This fast-paced world seems to be leaving me behind and not batting an eye. I'm here praying that this site can change that :)

Hi, welcome to CC BizBo and glad the Lord led you here! Here's a beautiful Scripture from the Lord:
John 15:15
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father I have made known to you.

The thing is to get to know Him through His word and you can't lose. 'The just shall live by faith' and see faith is important. God has so many promises and teachings for us because He is for us. you'll get much encouragement. Also, the best way to make friends is to browse the Threads and start posting when you find topics of interest. No doubt you'll have many friends soon. God be with you, bless and guide you BizBo🙏✝🔯

Thank you for this, I do my best to follow God in every single thing I do, daily. I will also heed that advice, I am not so sure what topics to search for, that’s why I created this thread to see if it sparks something to others in similar situations…. I’ve never really had friends, maybe 5 in my whole life (more along the line of acquaintances) and there has always been a huge divide between me and my family so I haven’t had much success reaching out and forming relationships…. As with God, I can only pray my attempts are worthy enough. I’ve been going through what the Bible and online calls ‘attacks from Satan’ daily for months now so I have no idea if I’m actually doing everything I can to the best of my ability or if it’s because I’m not doing my best… Besides God, I honestly have no other real help. Church, Bible Chat and online searches haven’t reached me on a level that I can relate. Nonetheless, I’m grateful for my journey and will continue doing what I believe God wants me to do until He is ready to bring me home again.

You don't happen to be within driving distance of Vancouver, if you don't mind me asking?
Welcome to the forum .
My Mom and I spent a little time in Washington when I was young.
It was pretty cool living close enough to walk to the beach, yet see mountains in the distance.

Vancouver is a few hours away from here. That’s funny, I visited Vancouver with my family when I was little, it was absolutely beautiful. But yeah it is nice to be able to be close to a beach, see mountains all the while trekking through a forest and be near a volcano haha.

I have fond memories of Washington. Fortunately, I wasn't there when
Mt St Helens erupted, but watched a long documentary on it and can't imagine what that was like to live nearby.

I was recently listening to a message from a pastor who has a church in your state. The sermon was called Honey Badger Baptists. That got my attention because I worked with wildlife all my life.

Pastor Aaron Thompson < This is his YouTube channel if you like to listen to evangelical/ baptist preaching.

I’m glad it’s been so helpful for you! And thank you, glad to be here! I am praying it will be helpful for me too. Being neurodivergent has definitely been challenging to say the least but I was hoping if someone else knew the struggle, or even has the same struggle, I might actually make some friends… and maybe destigmatize it a little bit. It definitely takes some getting used to, just like learning our faith… learning anything to be honest haha

Like the scripture says in the book of Isaiah, "Line upon line, precept upon precept, a little here, a little there".

Life can indeed be a struggle but it is how, by the grace of God we spiritually mature, that defines us - who we are and what we are about. I am an introvert too. There are other members of this site that are too, so please know that you are not alone in this.

Also, as it also says in scripture, "Fear not" says the Lord.

Thank you for this, little steps here and there is all I can do. It’s the other characteristics of mine, ADHD and neurodivergent, that pose the real challenge nowadays because that literally means I’m not functioning what is typically normal and we all know what ADHD is all too well lol… I rated 19.43 according to a test I’ve taken when the average is 9.5…. So God is showing me He is the one I MUST rely on for just about everything, every decision, every provision, etc. I come from a family that is kind of atheistic and will be downright evil sometimes for being so helpless because “they figured it out on their own, I should be able to as well”… so I have to be as Christ-like as I possibly can with those obstacles too. I apologize if I ever seem like I’m complaining as well, I merely am just stating facts of my life. My differences did not bode well with people growing up, forcing me into introversion when I really never wanted to be and that’s just what I grew up getting comfortable with. I’d love to hear yours and others’ stories, knowing I’m not alone and surrounded with a community I can finally rely on for support and help, all the while sharing a similar passion and love for God is truly humbling. Thank you again!

We all have a story. Thank you for sharing a few pages of yours.
Feel free to share! This site has been the most positive influence I’ve had in almost a decade when it comes to interacting with others. So, I'm a bit rusty and would love to build the social skills a bit. I sometimes fear this lack of skill makes it more difficult than it has to be to build my relationship with God. Point out anything I can correct, help me get out of my own way, etc. I am no stranger to criticism. I’m also an empath, I was the one my friends growing up went to for support, so I always try my best to be of any help I can be, in any way I can.

As far as my story is concerned, I joined this site in 2014. About a month later I met my future wife here who is also a member.

We started to e-mail each other, snail mail, phone calls. Lived about 120 miles apart. Eventually met in person. Got married later in the same year on Thanksgiving Day in Las Vegas. No, Elvis did not officiate. She was against that idea.

Got married in our room at the Hilton on the Strip across from Circus Circus. She arranged in Florida beforehand to have a local minister in Las Vegas to agree to performing the nuptials. A housekeeper and two bell hops were the witnesses.

Since we got married in their hotel the Hilton gave us a tremendous complimentary Thanksgiving dinner.

We will be celebrating our 10th anniversary this November. She has been a tremendous blessing to me, both as my best friend and for sharing her love of God.

The power of God is awesome. My wife is awesome too.

This legit made me tear up! Thanks for posting 🥲

And BizBo, welcome to the site! You seem to be fitting in well. I have found that some people process life more slowly (myself included). This can leave us feeling left behind sometimes because our modern world tends to favor quick reactions and responses. But those who process more slowly also tend to process more deeply....so we're usually the ones making lateral connections, remembering and recalling significant details, cross-referencing thoughts to form a clearer picture......etc.

God made you this way for a reason, and people with your gifting can be a tremendous blessing! 🙏 Good to have you here 🙂.

I'm neuro divergent as well....so is my wife...
What is normal anyway eh?

And you are right....10 minutes with good Godly friends is more powerful and effective than 52 hours of sermon listening.

Look,
The things you should be doing are rather simple...
Let's start with reading Proverbs every day. Just one chapter. (There are 31 of them) Whatever the date read that chapter number of Proverbs. And they aren't that long. If you miss a day....not a big deal just try again the next.

Then....find a church....that's gonna be the hard part. Lots of groups around and not all of them are really all that great. Sure some are very friendly and seem nice...but the truth is something different at times. So be very discerning and don't discount one place just because of one or two people.

Thank you for reaching out, it’s great to hear from another neurodivergent Christian, I’m glad you were able to marry the same character class as us too 😄 that’s really special. I just listen to whatever the one-year reading plan in the KJV Bible is for the day… the guy who reads it on Bible Study Tools in NLT version is a fantastic storyteller. As far as church, I’ll have to take that advice, I was invited to a member’s Baptism and that experience was great… I just need to be more comfortable with the members to enjoy the experience. I think I was misunderstood by a lot of the members but those members literally just finished their mission today and others moved away so there are new members who joined today, maybe that’s God telling me to give it another try. Thank you for post!
