Judge Chutkan Hands Donald Trump New Legal Setback (msn.com)

It would seem that the new squealing pig attempt to wiggle out of charges, may be problematic with this news. Apparently the judge has decided that despite the SC's ruling on the matter, that the charges standing are not covered by their explanation of presidential immunity. So, now it would appear that the defense is actually agreeing that they did what they are being accused of doing, but that it should not be charged because of presidential immunity. This would mean that if the immunity defense fails, as it appears to have done, then guilt for the charges has already been determined by the defendant himself. I mean, if he hadn't committed a crime, why would he need immunity?

We'll see how the courts parse this out.

I think that's what the Supreme Court decided wasn't it? That it would be up to the lower courts to decide what were official acts covered by immunity and which ones weren't.

To start. But it will eventually get back to the Supreme Court.

Another anti-Trump rant, which ignores the weaponization of the government and the justice system against Trump.

This is normal for Trump-haters. So why would he need immunity? If you were the president trying to do the best job you could (in spite of all the opposition from both Left and Right) you would want presidential immunity to protect yourself against THE WEAPONIZATION of the entire government. And presidential immunity existed long before Trump.

But since you are blind to these truths, you will continue with your foolish rants which only prove one thing -- you are phony. Real Christians deal with facts and objective truths, and do not allow Leftist garbage to pollute their minds.

This is called "passing the buck". All presidential acts and decisions of a legitimate president are official.

So this is just another Democratic ploy to try and disqualify Trump. This is "lawfare" and SCOTUS did not need to play this game of sending things back to the lower courts. They had plenty of evidence from what happened with past presidents.

And all the garbage spewed by Biden for 3 1/2 years was still official, and no one is questioning that. So why the double standard? They all fear Trump. They all know that they are criminals and traitors.

Chutkan is another one of those unprincipled and lawless judges which have all now come out the the woodwork to "get Trump". Why are they not going after Joe Biden?

Right. Because I'm not in league with the boot licking MAGA movement "you will continue with your foolish rants which only prove one thing -- you are phony. Real Christians deal with facts and objective truths, and do not allow Leftist garbage to pollute their minds.

But yes, I am against whatever agenda the GOP contender is pushing, but I just don't approve of the moral uprightness of the man and pretty much every time he opens his mouth he's telling some untruth. He has no patience, no wisdom. I won't be voting for him and if in your mind that means I hate him, hey I can't be in charge of your thoughts. However, I'm not going to stoop into the gutter with you and start the name-calling. You can have that agenda all to yourself.

God bless you. And hey, vote wisely.

Hi @NightTwister,

Yes. Faithful in his marriage. Seems to be of much better moral character than the other guy, to me. I can't speak for how you see it, and I wouldn't be surprised that you don't see the moral issues as I do.

Some seem to think that because one allows the government to work the way that it's supposed to work, that they are evil. I don't. Yes, is there abortion in the country and children are dying? Absolutely! It has been that way for at least the last 50 years and as our government works, it isn't going to change. I don't know why I have to keep reminding a remnant of supposed believers that a democratic republic means that, in general, the majority rules. Do you know what the position of most Americans is on abortion?

Yes, yes, yes. I get it, you're a staunch, "I'm going to save America by stopping abortions" kind of person. But it isn't going to happen friend. Pray for those who find themselves in a position that they would even consider one. Work with groups that will teach our youth abstinence so that we don't have a need for the vast majority of abortions, i.e., winding up pregnant out of wedlock.

Just like with drugs, we're not going to stop the drug problem in America by thinking that we can put all the sellers in prison. It's a lucrative business and there will always be evil people, remember what the Scriptures tell us about these last days, willing to fill in the gap. You're not going to stop abortion, but you can save a lot of young people from such tragedy by teaching them to save sexual relationships for after marriage.

Support has gone up post-Dobbs: polling from Pew Research Center finding that it went up from 61% in March 2022 to 63% in 2024, while AP/NORC’s polling found a higher jump from 64% to 70% just from July 2023 to July 2024.

If the process of a democratic republic holds, then we're not going to get rid of abortions.

Now, you could try to change the minds of enough people that the government would make abortions illegal, but, pssst, you're still not going to end abortion. That's the whole reason that Roe v. Wade even came to be. It will just be relegated to a back room, and you might put some people in prison, but I doubt an appeal would uphold.

Pray for those who find themselves in such a situation. Share Jesus with everyone that you know. But you're listening a man who doesn't understand how our government works. That's why his first administration was such a failure on pretty much all of his campaign promises. But between the two men, Pres. Biden is a much more moral man and as far as I know, he does know about Jesus. He does know that he's a sinner in need of a Savior. He does know why he sits down to communion. The other man knows nothing of the christian faith, except that they've got some hot button issues that he can play to.

What happened to that promise last time that on day one he would rescind the ACA and give us the cheapest, bestest healthcare the world from eternity past has ever known. I mean that's literally how he speaks about everything that he does. But he gives it one quick stab and sulks back with, "Who knew that healthcare could be so difficult?" Really!!!!!!? It took 2 years to finalize the last one. What happened to balancing the budget the first year and getting the debt paid off in eight? Why do we still have illegals coming across our border now that the wall that Mexico paid for is up? Oh, that's right, he couldn't figure out how to work with the legislature to get it done. He thinks that our government is designed for a despot leader to just go in and tell everyone what they will do and it gets done. Don't you even realize that's why he likes Pres. Putin and Pres. Kim. They oversee governments where their rule is iron fist. You do what I say or else.

Pres. Kim of N. Korea actually made a law that no one in all of the country could name their daughter, his daughter's name. That's the kind of government that the GOP candidate wants to install in our country. No thanks!! While I don't believe that the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness are really what God tells us life is about, I do enjoy that my government allows me to do those things. How many N. Koreans do you think are enjoying the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. Or Russians? Certainly like we do.

But that really doesn't have anything to do with it so much as I just can't approve of all his moral failings and all of his untruths. But this is still the USA and we each get to pull the lever for the one that we think is best. For me, I can assure that there's not likely any circumstance that I would pick the GOP candidate over just about anyone else.

God bless you and vote wisely,
Ted

Not at all. He took showers with his young daughter and was credibly accused of sexual assault. The new candidate slept her way to the to. She held convicts past their release date to use them as free labor. Do some research.

Hi @NightTwister

So, what do you think? Is Judge Chutkin working a plan here by now declaring that the defense argument doesn't pass the smell test?

God bless you,
Ted

I don't know. Do you thing he's "working a plan?" And what exactly do you mean by "working a plan?"

Hi @ResidentAlien

Well, maybe that's not the right way to put it. But I'm recalling Judge Engeron. He illicited testimony from the defense early on in the trial that allowed him to just automatically find him guilty of the charges of his own admission. According to Judge Engeron early on, guilt was already adjudicated and the remainder of the trial was to determine sentencing. Now we have Judge Chutkin, who has allowed the defense motion to go to the SCOTUS for determination. It is determined that the lower courts get to decide what is privileged in the way that the defense was asking, and apparently the lower court decision is no. So it would seem, that Judge Chutkin here has allowed the defense to make it's move and it lost.

But the saga of what is happening on these fronts is getting old and will soon be a thing of the past except for blurbs in the history books. We'll see how this all blows out in a couple of years.

Okay, I'll just be honest. I don't understand what you're asking or what your point is so I don't have anything to add until I can figure out what this thread is supposed to be about.

That's how witch hunts work. It was rigged from the beginning. TDS will make you do things you wouldn't ordinarily do, like telling SCOTUS their ruling is wrong.
