Trump: I will tell you that coming from the border are millions and millions of people that happen to be taking Black jobs.

Interviewer: What exactly is a "Black job", sir?

Trump: A "Black job" is anybody that has a job.
Can someone who thinks this makes sense and thinks it's not using the race card for a political advantage expand on this? Does that mean every working American has a "Black job" by his definition?

I am for LEGAL immigration only. Having said that, I have been told how homicidal these illegal immigrants are for years. When someone gave me a study showing illegal immigrants are 44.8% LESS likely to commit homicide than a native-born American, I had my doubts and wanted to fact-check it. Upon looking at the data by the Cato Institute, I was quite surprised that my original perception doesn't match actual data. This doesn't mean I'm for open boarders, but I'm realizing I was force-fed race-baiting arguments, which aren't even accurate.

I don't want this to be a "but what about Kamala and/or the left..." derailment. So, I ask that you stay engaged on this OP and feel free to make a new thread addressing the "so-and-so" on the left you want to blast. In other words, I don't want this thread obfuscated please. Most of us here aren't in alignment with them. Discuss if you think Trump is or isn't using the race card, if you're surprised and/or agree by the data which illustrates illegal immigrants are 44.8% less likely to commit homicide, etc...

Are there black journalists? What exactly is black journalism and is that playing the race card? Just trying to understand the context in which this question and answer took place. Thanks

You began by talking about jobs, then switched to homicides by illegals. So you changed your own rules.

So let's stick to the topic of jobs. But before that let's deal with your false accusation about Trump using the race card simply because he mentioned jobs being taken away from blacks by illegal MIGRANT INVADERS (not "immigrants). Donald Trump is not a racist (and is in fact loved by blacks), unlike those on the Left. Biden is a very racist person and Obama was a black racist. It is Kamala Harris who is playing the race card right now.

Trump has a very valid point, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics supports his point, although they do not deal with the issue of how many Hispanics/Latinos are legal citizens vs illegal migrants. Chances are no government department will give us the truth about this issue.

So here is what the Bureau says: 1. Blacks also made up a high proportion of discouraged workers (22 percent) relative to their share of the labor force. Discouraged workers, who represent a subset of the marginally attached, are people not currently looking for work because they believe that no jobs are available for them. We are not told whether illegals stole their jobs and that is why no jobs were available to them, and therefore they were discouraged. But it would be a good assumption.

2. I am assuming "labor force activity" actually means "manual labor force activity.". And Here is what they say: Among adult men (20 years and older) in the largest race and ethnicity groups (White, Black, Asian, and Hispanic), Hispanics were more likely to engage in labor force activity than were the other groups, with a participation rate of 79.5 percent, and Blacks were the least likely, with a rate of 66.5 percent.

3. Among those employed (vs unemployed) here is what they say: Among adult men (20 years and older) in the largest race and ethnicity groups, Hispanics continued to have the highest employment-population ratio (74.6 percent). Black men had the lowest (60.5 percent), also continuing a longstanding employment pattern. We are not told what is the cause of this longstanding employment pattern. It could be because many blacks became dependent on welfare (or drug dealing) or because no jobs were available for their capabilities.

4. As to who works in service occupations, here is what they say: About 18 percent of employed Black and Hispanic men worked in service occupations, compared with 11 percent and 12 percent of employed Asian and White men, respectively. Employed Black and Hispanic men also were more likely than White and Asian men to work in production, transportation, and material moving occupations.

5. Regarding working in the construction industry vs transportation and utilities here is what they say: Among employed men, Hispanics were more likely to work in the construction industry (22 percent) than were Whites (14 percent), Blacks (7 percent), or Asians (4 percent). Employed Black men were more likely than employed men of other race and ethnicity groups to work in transportation and utilities (15 percent).

My impression when watching the interview was, as per usual, he is very impulsive with his words and struggles to be diplomatic and exaggerates, oblivious to how his words can be misinterpreted.

I think his comments were demeaning to the black population since the immigrants (both legal and illegal) are doing work which others do not want to do, the minimum wage work

In this interview he let himself be put on the defensive from the get go, these types of interviews rarely go well for him, he lashes out and lacks clarity in his rhetoric.

Here is another "valid point":
Well guess what Maggie? Since Biden weaponized the DOJ, the FBI, and the judiciary, and waged LAWFARE to prevent Donald Trump from peacefully conducting his campaign, it is only right that campaign funds be used to fight these evildoers (if indeed what you post has any truth). Since Trump is a multibillionaire, and donated his presidential salary while in office, I doubt very much if what you posted has any merit.

But you failed to respond to what I quoted from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And since DHS has been totally corrupted, we will never know the truth about the illegals from the government. We know for sure that actual citizens were disadvantaged by all levels of government to provide royal treatment to the migrant invaders. And they are taking away jobs from citizens.

Did you read the excerpts from the report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics which I posted? Why would it be demeaning to speak of the jobs done by blacks vs others, when that is exactly what this report shows? It gives breakdowns by ethnicity.

As to illegals in the work force, by definition they have broken the law and should in fact be deported. That is what the existing immigration laws demand.

Yes. Mr Trump has to watch every word he speaks, since he is the target for just about everyone. He must not exaggerate when there is plenty of "ammunition" without exaggeration.

I have read it now, good information.
Unfortunately, he should have answered in a different way, but he was agitated and rightly so the interviewer was very unprofessional.

Agree.

Agree.
My parents had to study and appear in front of a judge and answer questions, and they came through the point of entry.
I have zero respect for people who break the laws.

I think it is simplistic to say they are doing jobs others do not want to do. Rather I think the reality is that they are doing jobs that they have no rights or recourse in because if they do complain they'll be shipped out of the country. That is why they are brought in, to do jobs that violate health codes and other laws because they can't say anything without being booted out of the country.

The reality is 45 million illegals are in this country and we can safely assume that many are getting jobs that others could and would do. I don't know if they pay taxes, but I do assume they get benefits from various government services including schools.

And what has the DOJ got to do with a State Prosecution for business fraud? You're a personality cultist. It doesnt matter to you what he has done in business or to women (A civil case also not involving the DOJ) you just dont want to believe what he really is and how much harm he has caused to America worldwide. No sense arguing with you. Blinders. I feel sorry for people like you who do not think for themselves.

Personally I just think he meant they're taking jobs in general; jobs that otherwise blacks might get. But the Donald has no sense of how others might perceive what he says. He's completely self-absorbed, and whatever he says people are supposed to just accept it as gospel. I think comments like this show how out of touch he is.

I personally enjoy this and it reminds me when Trump first got into the White House and used to make journalist's heads spin with his comments.
Looking forward to more interviews of him with the press and other venues.

How stupid is this point!?

He was at a place hosted by entirely by blacks, who were concerned entirely with black issues, that were, except for Harris Faulkner, completely nasty and antagonistic, that had a VERY twisted "when did you stop beating your wife" opening question, with virtually NO greeting.

He did a WONDERFUL job there. So OF COURSE he is going to reference BLACK JOBS!

That was the whole point of him being there. To address black Americans concerns on various issues.

For you to try and make it seem like he's racist for doing exactly what he was asked about says a WHOLE lot more about YOU than him.

Harris went to Atlanta to speak, and started quoting black rappers and had a black female rapper do a song onstage while shaking her butt, yet no comments on that? She pandered to what she believed would sway a black audience. Not by discussing topics related to black people but by trying to act ghetto. And yet nothing about that. Huh...

So dancing to rap music is "ghetto?" I suppose everything black is ghetto in your opinion.

It was 11 million in 2022 and 8.3 million undocumented that work in the US. It’s much closer to those numbers.

Looks more like a guy who's family emigrated from Germany had a son who being legally born in the US and qualifies to run for POTUS is worried about a Jamaican /Indian whose family also emigrated to the US and had a daughter who then being born in the US also qualifies to run for POTUS. Is the office of POTUS a black job, and who are the immigrants he thinks are trying to take it?
