I did a search using tattoo as my key word and specified/checked Search titles only and found quite a few threads you may find interesting. Though you may not find a definitive answer. Do you have tats, or are you thinking about getting one? I have none except for the ones my medical team gave me just over four years ago prior to receiving radiation treatments so they could position me properly when they zapped me LOL. But I can't see them... they were just two little dots, one on each hip...

I do not believe there is anything wrong with tattoos but they are just way too permanent. I have never been permanent. I have always bounced from home to home. Permanent is just something I do not believe I can do successfully. Even if I like something now, there is no guaranty I would always like it. I have only seen one tattoo I really like. It was on a TV show called NCIS on the character named Abbie. She has a very large cross tattoo on her back that I think is beautiful. But, they are still permanent so that makes them scary. It is like committing to wear one item of clothing FOREVER. I do not think I could do it.
There has only been one permanent thing I actually coveted. I always wanted a real family. I hear others at school complaining about their families. I do not believe I could do that. Maybe they would not complain about their families either if they never had one.

Some get them impulsively or when drunk, or on a dare, or to be funny. Those people tend to regret them later in life.
Others take their time choosing what they want, perhaps sit on the idea for a while. And for them it has meaning. It may be to honor a dead friend or relative, express a struggle they deal with, or have overcome, as reminders of encouragement or scriptures that impact them or help them.
Not to mention take the time to find reputable shops and artists and schedule in time to have the work done. And don't rush.
People like these tend not to regret theirs. Because they hold personal meaning to them that doesn't change over time.
I'm not suggesting you should get one. If you're not comfortable with the idea, then you absolutely should not. Just sharing a view that explains why the people that tend not to regret theirs, don't regret it.
I understand what you're saying though. Not that I've been in your situation, but that tendency to switch gears easily. I can be that way myself. Though my ideas for tattoos I'd like haven't swayed over the years. So I'm confident if I did get something else I'd not regret it later.

I'm glad you asked the question here instead of the immature boys on the football team. I'm tired so I won't go into a bunch of details. If I'm short, it's not because I'm mad or anything, I'm just trying to hurry so I can hopefully get to sleep.
First, I found a good sermon on >Tattoos<
If You aren't attending a good church where the preacher preached on subjects like these, I hope you and your parents will consider one sometime soon. You need this kind of Bible preaching, just like I do.
1. When I was 4 or 5 years old I asked my Dad what was on his arm.
He told me that when he was young and foolish in the army, he and his friends got tattoos. His was a bald eagle because he really liked them at that age. It was on his shoulder. He said it looked really bad and faded because they do that over time. They only look good when you first get them. Then you are stuck with it.
He told me a couple reasons why I should never get a tattoo.
2. On girls, they are not at all pretty. Someone will say they are because they don't want to hurt their feelings.
What guys are wondering is, I wonder if she's still that impulsive?
Ink on a girl is a distraction from natural beauty. At best it's neutral,. Most of the time they give the impression that the person is immodest.
A friend of mine was excited about marrying his girlfriend. He got her the ring, graduated from college and gave her the ring. Then he saw her barefeet. She had some tat on her ankle. He was really upset and nearly called off the wedding. Some guys don't care, but some do. I can't speak for girls, but if you don't get one, that increases opportunities.
I'm not talking to those who already made that mistake. I'm talking to a young person who needs to know this before they get around a group of foolish young guys that are drunk or acting stupid.
3. Gangs traditionally got them in prison or to look tough. I don't think it makes them look tough. It makes them look like they were trying to look tough when they were young and trying to overcompensate for weakness. I don't disrespect my Dad or anyone for their Bald Eagle on their shoulder. I'm just giving the "Dad talk" because what looks cool or tough now will look dumb later.
If you used to see a bunch of Tattoos on someone, you'd first think, Hell's Angels or Pagans. These days a bunch of college girls line up at tattoo parlors to get irreversible beauty DEhancers.
4. Everyone changes but the ink remains. I've got scars from old injuries, bites, tears, and dealing with wild toothy animals with big claws. They really aren't a distraction when talking to people. When you talk to someone, like the cashier or waitress at a restaurant, how many times have you found your eyes going from theirs and wondering to that word on their hand or something.? Or they have a nose ring (septum?) and you are trying to not stare at the ornamental nose booger thing. Those should not be there. Who was the fashion artist that started that trend? They need to be fired.

(Leviticus 19:28) "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD."
The process of getting a tatto includes both actions.. Cutting the skin and printing marks upon ones skin..
Now i will add if you are a Christian with Tattoos like all other transgressions against the will of God we are covered by the Atoning blood of the LORD Jesus.. So if a Christian already has tattoos then i would not say they need to remove them or try to remove them.. I would advise Christians who have not yet got any tattoos to avoid getting them..
