No, you have to repent to be forgiven. If you listen to serial killers for example they typically don't ever admit blame (blaming everyone else). They're psychopaths or sadists and enjoy it.

For normal Christian people though 2 things can be true. You can be sorry and continue in sin, even while hoping you will stop and asking for forgiveness. I believe that is still forgiven. How many times should you forgive someone?

2 Cor 7: 10:
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
But we come to the Lord as we are, set free from our enslavement to sin, but being free from our sins doesn't lead to instant perfection.

Heb 5: 12-14:
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Babes in Christ are those who need the word of righteousness or milk administer by the Holy Spirit to learn the first principles of the oracles of God and to grow to spiritual maturity. The first principals of the oracles of God are, repentance from dead works, faith towards God, doctrine of baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgement. All of these oracles are one and done, except repentance from dead works. When we neglect the scripture, we're slowly drawn back to sinful behavior and require some more of the Holy Spirit's ministry of milk. By this ministry, seen in Rom 12:2: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.; we are being transformed. This is the promise of the New Covenant, which leads us to an obedience that the Old Covenant could not instill. As seen in Heb 8: 8-10: For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
This promise of the New Covenant, purges our consciences to perceive sin as the Lord does, and the things we once delighted in doing become points of conviction. In fact, the knowledge of how miserable we'll become is what gives us the strength to quit the hardest sins we commit.
This is also seen in Heb 9: 14: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

2 Corinthians 7:10 ~ Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Hello Sister, lovely (as always :)). I find this image particularly appealing for some reason (I think, at first blush anyway, because I love all of the colors that you've used and how they flow or work together). Very beautiful, very peaceful. Thank you for sharing :giggle:

Repent is a 'change of mind, heart'... not a work of effort in reducing sin before being born again.

It's going from unbelief in Jesus...to belief in Him. Then the object of the belief...Jesus..as God.. sets your sin slate clean by His payment for your sin.

Reducing sin comes in the daily walk with Jesus, after salvation is received. Jesus keeps your soul saved by the Holy Spirit in your spirit/soul.

So... a born again person can still sin and grievous sin.. but they will get discipline and rebuke from the Holy Spirit in their soul.

The key thing being... the status of being born again is not kept by the born again person, but Jesus.

Compare John 3, John 5, John 6, with Romans 10.

This topic is just a continuation of the once saved always saved, so get ready for a lot of finger pointing and flexing.

.
To my knowledge remorse isn't essential, whereas anxiety is very definitely
the cat's meow.

Luke 12:4-6 . . I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the
body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should
fear: fear Him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into
Hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him.

OBJECTION: I have no use for a religion of fear!

REPLY: Fear will make you look both ways before crossing a street. Fear will
make you careful where you sit down in rattlesnake country. Fear will make
you wash your hands after shoveling cow manure. Fear will make you wear
a face shield when using a grinding machine. Fear will make you lock the
doors when leaving your car unattended. In other words; sometimes fear is
your first line of defense.

has forgiven everything but "Unbelief" to mGod Father of risen Son for us all
So simple and yet not simple at all
Adam the first in "unbelief" ate from that tree of knowledge and was immediately dead to God
Jesus did not eat from it, Stood in belief to God Father all the way to death for us all to get saved if beleifve God in this gift for them too, thank you
Unbelief to belief, changes everything

...sigh... Methinks you may be a "born again" member here. As in new Screen Name, profile but not first time around for you. I've read through your comments on two Threads you Authored and the comments/thoughts are eerily familiar.

Well one would have to know what they are doing is sin and choosing to stay in it. See who's truth who's Jesus are we running with here? Which one will God hold us accountable to? Yet you ask a question that has already been answered by God in His word. Christ already died for the sin of the world.. so are we going out there and telling them this? He can't die again. I'm 63 been in many Churches and I have never meet one person that knew God.. I mean knew GOD no questions what so ever knew Christ and freely willingly rejected Him. Most reject man (group or denomination) says about Christ. They have never met Him. He comes not condemning not judging just loves them. We tend to judge based on our personal belief and if you reject that.. well your really rejecting JESUS! Na..just rejecting you sorry.

If you were blind you would have no sin you say you see your sin remains.. most are blind. He didn't come to judge nor condemn us. So what we looking at again? Did He not already set them free? Are we out there telling them this or telling them what we personally believe? Oh we always get in His way.

When a person first believes in and becomes committed to following Jesus, the new believer's sins are forgiven. That is, the divine Judge, the Father, declares us "not-guilty" and right with him. However, we still have sinful natures in us against which we need to struggle our whole lives. It's through Jesus' death that the Father gives us that "not-guilty" verdict, but it's through Jesus' resurrection that he gives us the Holy Spirit to make spiritual progress in overcoming the sins that remain within us.

Those who are not sorry, do not or have not received the truth of the risen Jesus, no new born again life has begun yet. Imho

Jesus commanded repentance per Matthew 4:17, but 1 John 1:9 indicates that repentant sinners will be forgiven for unrighteousness that they fail to be aware of and confess.

And Hebrew’s 10:14? How would you interpreted that?

And Hebrew’s 10:14? [A] How would you interpreted that?
I see a direct correlation with 1 JN 1:9 that I had not noticed before, so thank you for leading me to learn that "those he has made perfect forever" (A) are those who repent of sin (specifically of rejecting God's Messiah) , and "those who are being made holy" (A) are those who are learning or becoming aware of other sins they need to confess .
