That is actually getting easier to do. My phone has a "gestures" setting where if I shake it twice in a short chopping motion, the flashlight comes on. So it would be really easy to whip it out without even thinking about it, chop chop, "Hmm... Can't see that phone anywhere..."
Oh great, my phone must've fallen between the car seats, again! ...If it weren't for this handy dandy flashlight feature, it might be lost forever. Ha!... Now, ...where the heck is it...?

I have found my deodorant in the freezer. Not sure how that happened.

Other things I've done,..
Poured old coffee in the trash and dumped the grounds in the sink.
Put my cereal box in the fridge and the milk in the cabinet.

Not in the same category but I have waved my work badge over my doorbell hoping my door would unlock. This has happened several times.

🤷

Look on the bright side. At least it didn't unlock the door. If it had worked, you would REALLY have cause to worry!

Worms. Fishing worms, that is. One particularly hot day my mother and I had been out fishing. We had to go somewhere else afterwards and she didn't want the worms getting hot out in the car. So we stopped by the house and she told me to run inside and put them in the freezer. To this day, I still remember her saying, "Put them in the freezer." A couple of days later I hear her hollering at me. I ran into the kitchen to see her searching the fridge. "Carrie, where are my worms?"
"They are in the freezer, where you told me to put them."
She was not happy about having frozen/dead worms that she couldn't use and she denied telling me to put them in the freezer, but it became something we laughed about for years. Anytime one of us would be looking for our worms the question would be asked, "Have you checked the freezer?"

Hey Eveyrone,

A long time ago when I was a kid, my Dad once went to the fridge for a jar of pickles.

But instead of a delectable, crunchy delight, he opened the jar and found -- used paper towels. Table scraps. And peach pits. In other words... he found the pickle jar my Mom had been using as a trash receptable after lunch, then accidentlly put back into the fridge. We all got a good laugh out of it because of my Dad's reaction, and we still bring it up to this day.

A few days ago, I mysteriously found a bottle of glue in my fridge. And I have sometimes found boxes of leftovers in my storage closet. I'd like to say it's someone else who is going crazy and misplacing all these things, but unfortunately, I'm the only one who dwells in this particular space.

What stories do you have of some of the strangest things you or others have misplaced -- and the even stranger places where they were found? :)
That's funny!☝️

One time at work I got a call. Someone needing information about something. I knew the information was in my phone. I just needed to find my phone to help them. I was searching all over my desk, walking out into the shop, checking the lunch room and any where else I could think of to look for my phone.

I don't remember how many minutes passed till it dawned on me that I was holding it against my head. 🤪

I am an expert at "I'm going to put this right here so I can remember where I put it", usually someplace I don't normally put things. Then completely forget where I put it.
For example I ordered a large bottle of hand sanitizer. When it arrived I didn't quite need it yet, so I put it someplace special to remember where I'd put it. It's been Months, at least 4 months and I still cant find it. I've searched for it multiple times to no avail. 🤪

I have pretty much shut down the shop due to health reasons. I mostly made smaller craft items, like trinket boxes, a few adirondack chairs, picture frames, handmade pens and some other lathe work.

I really like vintage tools. My table saw is 90 years old and still passes the dime test. It's about 95% original and runs like a champ.

Cool!
Do you have any pictures to share?

It's always interesting to see what others do.

If I still have pics they a buried in a 1TB external hard drive. I'll see what I can dig up though.
Haven't been in the shop for almost 2 years now.

Sycamore wood is beautiful.
Here's a table I made recently.

Legs are sycamore and top is maple.
sycamore quarter sawn ia really nice too. Nice table. Good to see someone else that thinks outside the box.
