Hey Everyone,

I came up with a second list of (humorous) things that seem to terrify men , so I thought it would be funny to write up a second poll. :geek:

Answers will be multiple choice and people will be able to see them, but as usual, feel free to post any other ideas here in the thread!

And this is by no means meant to pick on men -- if anything, it's in appreciation of everything the men in our lives do, and a reminder (to me at least) that men are human and have their own vulnerabilities, so they need our encouragement and support. :)

What things in this poll are you (or others you know) afraid of -- or at least complain very loudly about if it happens to them?:p

I've used up all the available slots that are allowed for the poll, so I'm interested in hearing any others people might think of.

Unlike last time I selected multiple options.
Babies in general make me nervous. I've never spent much time around them, maybe held one once, when I was younger, did not enjoy it.
It's not that I dislike babies so much as they make me anxious. They're so vulnerable, soft and can't well communicate their needs. Whenever I see babies all my mind does is think of the ways it can be hurt or injured.
Toddlers, on the other hand, are a blast. 2-3 years old is my favorite age for kids. They're so much fun at that age. Yes, it can be a difficult time as well, but worth it.

I don't really care for any of those rides. I used to ride on some as a kid and teen, and been on a couple sense. But I don't like heights, so that rules out quite a number of them.
But more to the point, the risk of something going wrong is what really keeps me off all of them. These things do happen. Like carts flying off of roller coaster tracks. Or getting stuck upside down. And similar issues in other rides. Not worth the risk to me.

I've been around some pregnant women, but never alone. Medical emergencies of any kind I'm not really keen on. I'm a bit squeamish, for one thing. Depending on the type of injury. Some I'm more well suited to handle than others. Bones breaking are hard for me to handle. Someone being cut up I can handle much better.
But child birth... I mean every time a person's life is in your hands, be it the mother's or the babies.
And I've already expressed how I am around babies, so delivering one ups that ante.

Rofl this reminds me of my hubby. It's not really a fear thing but he has a very weak stomach. So one day my mother was going to clean the lawn of doggie do. Hubby wasn't going to let her do that herself. I wasn't there but Mom said he took the scooper and the bag and started to pick up the nasty stuff. She said he would stop, gag and wretch then pick up the doo doo. Too funny.

Having your favorite hat and/or boots washed.
That's crossing a line that should never be crossed. God should have put something in the Bible warning people to never do that... Jesus did do some feet washing, but take note that he never washed boots!

Funny but also a demonstration of his awesome character. He wasn't going to let his mother-in-law do something that he himself found horrible to do. So he did it in her place. Must be quite the awesome fella.

I appreciate this honest and heartfelt answer!

I love holding babies, but yes, they scare me as well. I'm even afraid to stand up when holding the smallest ones because in real life, I'm pretty clumsy, and I'm always afraid I won't be coordinated to hold on tight enough. So if I hold a really tiny baby, I prefer to be sitting down, or to just stand and rock in place -- because they make me afraid to walk around!

I DO love roller coasters, but won't go on the ones that are constantly put up and taken down.

Maybe the reason I love them is because they seem to combine so many fears that I have to face at once -- heights, speed, large structures that look questionable, lol.

And I totally agree with you about medical emergencies. All I could do is pray, pray, and PRAY that I could be of some help.

Lol!

I'm pretty much the same way, and it's one of the reasons I don't have pets. I'm not keen on cleaning up biological messes if I don't have to. Sure, it's necessary with people sometimes, but I'm not the best at handling such situations.

This reminds me of when my hometown best friend and I took a babysitting job for 2 infants and 3 toddlers. The parents went out on a double date, and I'd talked my friend into it because they were super nice people and awesome to work for. Oh my goodness, we had no idea what was in store for us.

One of the kids got sick, and the next thing you know, all the others were getting sick right in a row, and suddenly my friend and I were surrounded by puddles all over the carpet. We tried our best to clean things up and carry on, but when the older toddlers said they were feeling sick and about to let loose as well, we eventually had no choice but to call the moms.

We were so sorry for ruining their evening, but 2 teen girls and 5 small kids hurling all over the place just did not go well!

Once again, Daisy, you made me chuckle out loud, especially regarding the Fade haircuts.

I've known a lot of guys who showed up after a haircut with bald spots, ridiculously uneven sides, and weird circles around their heads all because asking for a "Fade" did. not. go. well!

Lol!!

Ok, but just as long as a man keeps his distance when he's wearing his unwashed hats and unwashed boots that he's had and been wearing nonstop for years...

Hopefully he takes a good shower after wearing them!

Gotta have meat in the fridge! No roller coasters... Period!!!
Now I'm thinking Rodney is daring me to eat a ham sandwich while chugging up the tracks of a roller coaster... :p

A pregnant woman who had an emergency (water broke, was going into labor) right in front of you wouldn't scare you?

I have to hand it to you, Lynx, you're definitely a lot more of a man than me!!! (Er, wait a minute...):LOL:

Not my circus, not my monkey.

I would help if I could in such a situation, but I don't know much about such things so my help would be minimal.

Nothing to be scared of though.

He really is, and he's also southern. He adores my mother and she loves him like a son. He would never allow her to do it if it killed him. And I'm spoiled too. He never lets me take out the garbage. I have told him in our 10yrs together he was gonna spoil me too much. I spent 20 yrs traveling in a motorhome dragging on music equipment every night. He has no idea lol. But I'm old now, in my 50s, I just smile and take the spoilin'. ;)

No, I don't think I could handle that well either. I was at my sisters last month. Her husbands daughter brought her 8 month old baby boy and 5 yr old girl for them to look after. Then my nephew came over with his 9 month old. They were surprisingly well behaved. But by the end of the night all the adults were half asleep holding a kid. I took pictures and you can see the progression of the day. lol I'm glad we didn't have any trouble like you did!

How about snakes? I think I told this one before. My BIL is scared of snakes. He likes to prank people so when he gets his just desserts we rib him about it for a long time.

We were visiting and he and my sister asked if we had seen the snake he caught. He came out with it in a jar and said it was poisonous. We're not from there so we took his word for it. He found it when he was painting the house and cut it all to bits with a shovel. Kept it in the jar to tell everyone how he had gotten that poison snake. Well, a week later a young boy knocks on their door and says to my sister "Did you see my pet snake around here? I lost him last week". Oh my land! Years later every once in a while I still ask him "Killed any dangerous snakes lately"?! rofl

Did he ever 'fess up to that poor kid?

And possibly buy him a replacement?!

While I'm certainly wary of snakes in the wild, I did get get a chance to hold this beautiful corn snake (my current avatar) at a reptile museum. Something I loved is that all the animals there had signs with the personal names they'd been given, along with info about their species and personalities, so to the owners, they really were like pets. :)

No, I believe he was too embarrassed. I did manage to pet one too in a similar situation as you. Pickin' the ol' boy up, that's a horse of another color.

I recall once we had a missionary come to our church a few years back. He had this big clear disk and it had a huge spider in it, dead, but still. So he began passing it around, some of the women squealed. My father , knowing me, thought it was funny to try and pass it to me. I said out loud " Don't even!! Don't make me say bad words up in this place!!" The crowd cracked up and he passed to the people behind me.

I am the male friend who asks people to ride with me
