the sabbath was made for man not the man for the sabbath.

this means it is for our benefit that we rest one day a week for our health. But if you cannot keep the sabbath it is not a sin. but to keep the sabbath is better for it is a blessing.

Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. Isaiah 58:13-14

So we can worship other gods, vain God’s holy name, profane God’s Sabbath, murder, steal, lie, commit adultery now? Have you really thought this through? Because no scripture says what you are teaching, Jesus taught the opposite. Mat 5:19-30, Mat 15:3-14, Mark 7:7-13 Mat 19:17-19
What part of love God and love your neighbor do you find the liberty to do such things?

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. Luke 10:25-27

I agree with you the Sabbath is a blessing and it meant to santify us Eze 20:12 because we can’t santify ourselves and to foster our relationship with Christ.

But it is one of God’s commandments and scripture tells this about sin

1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

Sin is breaking any of the Ten Commandments. While the commandments can’t save us, we are only saved by the blood of Jesus though faith, they show us our sin Rom 3:20 and so we are not depending on our righteous way of living but on God’s Isa 56:1-6 Psa 119:172 the commandments are not kept to be saved, its how a saved person lives.

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

If we love Jesus we are going to want to obey Him and follow in His footsteps the example He left for us 1 John 2:5-6 1 Peter 2:21-22

I don’t find any part of being disobedient to God’s commandments as loving our neighbor or loving God, hence why God’s law never ended in the New Covenant. You were the one saying it was “old laws” but it’s God’s eternal law- how to love God, how to love man.

1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

I am not sure if you have read Hebrews 7, but there is nothing in that entire chapter saying the Ten Commandments is the law that changed.
Hebrews is explicit: Israel received the law of Moses through the Levitical priesthood. The priesthood has changed, therefore the law of the covenant has of necessity changed also. The 10 commandments were part of the law of Moses. Christ did away with the letter of the 10 commandments and wrote his law in our hearts, that fulfills the righteousness required by the 10 commandments.

Yes, I was just speaking to someone about this. Mary Magdalene who followed Jesus everywhere and loved Him so much, obeyed Him even in death and waited to anoint His body so she could keep the Sabbath according to the commandment even after His death. This shows the Sabbath did not end in the New Covenant. Christ ratified His covenant at His death- nothing could be changed after His death. It Is Finished. He already promised He would not change the words of the covenant Psa 89:34 Mat 5:18 which is why His faithful followers still kept the Sabbath, the apotles kept every Sabbath decades after the Cross Acts 13:42 Acts 13:44 Acts 18:4 and so many other scriptures.

Luke 23:56 Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

Jesus said He had all authority and commanded all of the apostles to observe everything He commanded, so no the apostles did not have free rein to countermand one of God’s commandments. They were His faithful servants and a servant is never greater than their master John 13:16

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go [a]therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [b]Amen.

Jesus sited the flight from Judah in the destruction of Jerusalem prayed would not be in winter or on the Sabbath, which was almost 40 years after the Cross. Hard to make the case the Sabbath ended at the Cross when He said it would be kept by His faithful.

Mat 5:18 is taking about God’s law and if you keep reading in Mat 5:19-30 the commandments He directly quotes from the Ten Commandments Mat 5:19-30. First you would have to prove that the Sabbath is not a commandment of God when God claims it is Exo 20:6 Exo 20:8-11 written by His own finger Exo 31:18 to not be included with the other commandments from the Ten.

Hope this helps.
I think you are wrong not to view anything not printed in red as uninspired by the Spirit of God/Christ.

Hard to make the case that winter did not end at the cross, too.

You failed to see that in MT 5:19-30 Jesus does not reaffirm the Sabbatarian laws, but only the moral laws. THOSE are what are still part of the New Covenant.

The sabbath didn't and doesn't sanctify anything. Israelites were to sanctify it because it was a sign that God was the one sanctifying them

Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them. Ezekiel 20:12

You might consider reading Hebrews 7, it talks about the law that had to change because of the law said the priesthood had to come from Levi, Christ came from Judea. It says nothing about the law being changed is the Ten Commandments. Why its still a sin to worship other gods, murder, steal or break the least of these commandments in the NC.

Only God can santify us, we can’t santify ourselves. Not a good spot to be in come Judgement day. Isa 66:17

We need God for everything!

The Levitical priesthood was appointed by God; it didn't come from the law. The law came through it.

The commandments of God are the words of Christ. Whoever doesn't follow, or adds to them, is lawless.
The commandments of God are the Ten Commandments.

God wrote the Ten Commandments and called them collectively right in the unit of Ten “My commandments”.

Exodus 20:6 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Did this change?

Not according to Jesus, which I believe is trustworthy

Matthew 15:3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’;

Found right in the Ten Commandments

Exo 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

I would consider reading the whole passage from Mat 15, because Jesus had some harsh words when we keep our rules offering obeying the commandments of God quoting right from the Ten Commandments.

The Levitical priesthood was appointed by God; it didn't come from the law. The law came through it.
The law required the priesthood to come from the Tribe of Levi. Jesus came from the tribe of Judah. Have you read Hebrews 7? Cn you point out where it says the law that changed is the Ten Commandments and we can now worship other gods, or steal, or break any of these commandments?

Again, the sabbath doesn't sanctify anything. Israelites sanctified it by observing it

Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee. Deuteronomy 5:12

God is the one who sanctifies and keeping the Sabbath is a sign God gave that we know who is sanctifying us.

Just like this other beautiful promise when we keep His Sabbath

Eze 20:20 hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.’

There are lots of beautiful promises when we obey Him, and many specifically on the Sabbath most attached with a thus saith the Lord.
