I'm 44 years old, and I can count the number of truly close friends on less than two hands...most of them being people I've met in my local church over the past five years. And the majority of those people are old enough to be my parents, some even my grandparents. I've been playfully referred to as "the baby" by some of them, since to my knowledge I'm pretty much the only single guy there my age. Everyone else I see is either married, has kids, or both...which makes me feel left out at times. None of the people there are mean-spirited to me at all - I feel nothing but true love and compassion from them. But there's definitely a generational divide, and I'm so into pop culture that when I start talking about the subject a lot of it goes over their heads.

Aside from church, the one friend I really have is a guy I ran into during my college years; his name is Robert. Technically, we first went to junior high school together, but my mind is still so fried by all the uncontrolled emotional chaos and abuse I was suffering from back then, I didn't believe him when he told me. I actually visited another student's house to flip through their yearbook, and sure enough there we both were. I was shocked, and I think I told him at least once, "I wish I could remember you from those times; we might be closer now by comparison."

I only have a small group of friends of like 3 or 4 guys who I have known for 30 years. None of them are Christians but they are true friends who have been to many trials (the earthly way) over decades. I will never leave these friends behind but as I grow in my faith, sometimes it does get a little weird.
When they are talking about really sinful stuff like its normal.

I have zero real Christians friends, but at church I was invited to activities and small groups but its weird man. Like these poeple dont know anyihtng about my past or anything. My only chrisitin freinds are my 11 year old son and my 12 year old daughter. We talk about God on our walks.

I talk to God all the time, but you know, it's like we chat back and forth, you know what I mean.
I have no friends.... not really something to brag about. I have 1 friend from HS (not a Christian) 1 from college. I have a handful from work, but they're coworkers. I have a handful from church but they're like family. I don't hang out with any of them outside their specified location if that makes sense. So I don't consider any friends.

I feel bad about it and thought for a long time there was something wrong with me. However in my situation I work from home and have 2 little kids and a husband. I market my husband's business. I don't have a lot of time. I can't stand gossip....removes a lot of women from my group. I can't hang out with guys anymore (I'm married). A lot of my family live far away. Also I'm an introvert. And then there's social media... where friendships go to die essentially.

I had a lot of "friends" in high school and even more in college. I've definitely had my heart broken a few more times I care to remember. I will probably look into friendships more when my kids get older and more independent.

I thought it was implied in the movie,. He sold his soul to the devil?
Not that I noticed.... he did imply that Big Nose Kate might be the anti-christ, since she encouraged him to continue with his hedonistic lifestyle after the doctor told him to slow it down...
I don't recall any other references to Satan, offhand....

I thought because he could never lose a hand at poker, was not afriad of death and could never lose in a gun fight.
Yes, the girl was Jezebel.

I looked it up the other day when you first mentioned it, apparently it was a reference
to the protagonist of a classic German legend based on the historical Johann George Faust,
where Faust sells his soul to the Devil. They were watching the play.

1 John 4:4 . Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. Wicked don't understand love. Pride is there ornaments. Truth isn't revelant to them.
Psalm chapter 1
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked. Nor stands in the ways of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers, but his delight is in law of the Lord. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields fruit in its season. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in judgement, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

Wicked want to corrupt Body of Christ. Christian people must be careful who they associate with . Counsel of Satan leads to hell. Counsel of Jesus leads to heaven. Peace.

I used to have a lot of acquaintances in high school and after high school. I was very popular in high school and after high school for my talents, personality and looks, a triple threat. Friends on a deeper level, maybe like 2. Both of whom I’m no longer friends with. i have a few people I talk to but nothing I’d consider to be close and deep.

Church friends?
My two closest friends were church friends but I told one of them I couldn’t be friends with him anymore cause I felt like he was trying to control my life and the other friend I rebuked for sexual immorality and he never spoke to me again, after a 7 year friendship. I do have my friend Jon that I talk to that goes to church and I do talk to my pastor. I haven’t gone to church almost all year but I have watched my churches sermon online everywhere. Actually I take that back, I did go to church 1 day a few months ago. It was a great experience. I’m very isolated. My mother never wanted me to have any friends over for the last ten years, so now I don’t have any friends, just like her. She was always embarrassed about her hoarding problem.

That's true. It's written in Peter, God is lomg suffering and patient, hoping they would come to repentance. Reality is, Reprobates are not going to repent and conform to God's standard. Ezekiel chapter 18, if the wicked don't repent, and change from their wicked ways, its destruction.
Psalm chapter 34. Evil shall slay the wicked. This group destroys themselves. God judges sin.
Psalm chapter 37. Reprobates will be destroyed on judgement Day. They won't repent and they reject Jesus. Romans chapter 9, they are vessels for destruction. Take care.

Zero. I live on the side of a mountain in the middle of nowhere. I do have a few neighbors, but none of them are believers. My best friend took his life a few years ago.
I've visited several churches in town, but they're an hour away and nothing to write home about.

I believe God wants me alone right now, and that's fine with me. When I bother to turn my phone on, I come here for something that sort of resembles fellowship. It will have to do for now.

It is possible most , if not all, who believe have been called out.

I could be wrong; you may not believe this, but, I have been wrong before. God bless you in all serenity.

I don't think you are wrong at all.

I believe God has people like me all over the country who are prepared to help when the time comes. I don't think I will be alone for too much longer. Funny thing is, I built my little redoubt with my family in mind of course. But in the last two years they all turned on me except my one daughter who's about 1800 miles away. No sympathies please, I haven't been this much at peace with God or myself in 30 years.

God bless you too. Shalom Shalom
