Technically, I do not love Christmas. In fact, I do not celebrate it. However, I do love some things which normally only transpire around that time of the year. For one thing, I love Christmas lights. Especially outdoor Christmas lights. Throw in some snow, and I really love it. For me, it makes an often dark world seem much brighter, and it also reminds me of Christ, the light of the world (John 8:12). I also love that a lot of people seem to be nicer during that time of the year. It would be great if that niceness lasted all year long, but I will take what I can get.

As far as what I hate about Christmas is concerned, I will only mention one non-controversial thing. I hate (abhor would be a better word) being force fed horrible Christmas songs. They just started pumping them in at work the day after Thanksgiving. I am thinking that some diabolical monster, fully garbed in black, and sitting in a tower somewhere, picked out the absolutely horrible song list that repeatedly loops. If so, and if I ever meet him on the street, then he might have to see his proctologist to have an unwanted candy cane removed from a certain orifice. Hey, a fresh candy cane, rightly placed, might even save him some money where air fresheners are concerned. :)

Yeah, about that...

The only song on that list that they play at work is "It's the most wonderful time of the year." Normally, I wouldn't mind it too much, but they played it so many times during my eight hour shift that I finally had to change the lyrics to "There's some gross horrible slime in my rear" in order to amuse myself. In fact, my rewrite was so catchy that I caught myself singing it on my car ride home last night.

You're right.

I might need some serious help.

KNOCK! KNOCK!
Who is it?
It's UPS with something for you.
Come on in. The door is unlocked.

Sorry, I have to run...

It's the most
Fattening time
Of the year
With the pumpkin pie filling
And people all swilling
Down eggnog and beer

"There's some gross horrible slime, there's some gross horrible slime, there's some gross horrible slime IN MY REARRRRRRR!!!"

Come on. Admit it. It's catchy (so is the flu).

I should probably copywrite that.

Are you a copycat?

I actually totally rewrote the lyrics to "Holly Jolly Christmas" when that was on the playlist at work last year, but don't ask to hear them. You might never fully recover.

:(

Now that I think about it, I've rewritten the lyrics of several Christmas songs while at work, and my rewrites would all fall under the category of "potty humor" (I'm just a kid at heart. What can I say?).

Would you like to hear my opening to "Last Christmas" by WHAM?

Do yourself a favor, and say NO!

Sorry for disrupting this thread with my idiocy. Going forward, I will behave like an infant an adult.

Quietness when everyone is spending their Christmas somewhere, so no car noises coming from distance. If there is snow, it seems even more quiet and peaceful. So, then admiring the world God has made us by taking a walk.

Oh, Christmas food too

Now, you cant post in this thread if you DO NOT like Christmas;). You have to love the idea of celebrating Christmas before even thinking of posting here. I do not want any negative posts to ruin my Christmas party. I do accept gifts:cool: (jk).

So, why do You love Christmas?

We woke up to snow today, but it wasn't any sort of magical snow. Tomorrow is National Poinsettia Day and Gingerbread House Day! According to the National Day Calendar, an Armenian monk, Gregory of Nicopolis, brought gingerbread to Europe around 992 AD and taught French Christians how to bake it. It was often used in religious ceremonies and monks baked it to be sturdy and molded it into images of saints, but we can thank the Brother's Grimm for the idea of the gingerbread house.

I like Christmas because it gives me an excuse to buy myself a gift or two.

Same. I can blame Christmas all year long. When I find something I know somebody will like, and I get it for them, and they ask what is this for... This is your Christmas present. In April. Merry Christmas.

Serious question:

Has anybody else noticed a major decrease in houses with Christmas lights on them this year? By me, I seems like the decrease in lit up houses is around 75%. I have a co-worker who has a second job as a Fed-Ex delivery driver, and I asked him if he noticed such a decrease in his travels, and he told me that he did. At the same time, I have noticed an increase for several years when it comes to Halloween decorations. Anyhow, I am just curious. Personally, I don't celebrate Christmas, but I do love the lit up houses, and they seem to be disappearing.

I love Christmas. I loved being Santa Claus for my children as they were growing up. Now that they're grown up and making their own lives, scattered across the USA I still love Christmas even if I don't do much leading up to Christmas. This year I can't put our string of outdoor lights up as the doctor has banned me from all kinds of ladders for 3 months and I'm trying to behave in that regard. Our neighbors across the street have created something with lights perhaps more beautiful than any other light display I've ever seen before. They have two clumps of small trees and the lights are set on the ground and shine up the trees, each creating a line of color. It's incredibly beautiful. I usually look out the front window at least once each evening to see it. I like that people tend to be just a little friendlier around Christmas.
