Hey Everyone,

We almost all know the infamous line from the movie Forrest Gump: "Life is like a box of chocolates -- you never know what you're going to get."

Well... What happens when life really DOES put a box of chocolates in front of you, and you actually DO know which ones are inside the box?

At a recent holiday gathering, one of the tables had a box of Russell Stover chocolates, complete with a handy flavor chart, something like these:

1735665955575.jpeg

My personal favorites are the fruit creams (raspberry, strawberry, or cherry cordials,) then vanilla creams, truffles, toffee, and anything resembling fudge.

So-so flavors for me would be coconut, peanut butter, caramel, and maple.

Ones I wouldn't fight for would be anything mixed with nuts -- I like my chocolate to have a smooth texture, rather than feel like it's been mixed in with crunchy rocks.

What about you? When life really DOES present you with a box of chocolates:

* Which flavors are worth arm-wrestling other people over?

* And which varieties can be tossed to the peasants, because they aren't worth the bother? :D

I prefer my version. Life is like a box of chocolates. Mostly sweet, with a few nuts.

I wouldn't fight anybody for any of them. I have way too much chocolate at home already. You can have it. Want some more? I can bring some next time I'm over. I've got plenty. I need to get rid of some of it.

Interesting! My least favourite are the flavoured fruit creams... though I do love a chocolate covered cherry!
Fudge is okay too, I suppose, but I prefer the dark chocolates with more chocolate inside, like a truffle, no
toffee (my teeth!!!), the hedgehogs (chocolate and finely ground hazelnut gianduja), dark chocolate covered
nuts. Real ingredients, not just flavored sugar heh. One year when my twin was hosting Christmas, he sent out
an email asking for volunteers for specific dishes. I signed up for the mice pie, and filled it with hedgehogs LOL

PS ~ oh! But I am not allowed to arm wrestle. Carpel tunnel symptoms would flair...

You can have all the fruit creams and I will be happy with what you leave behind... :D

We will have to come upon some kind of compromise, Lady Magenta.

I'll ease your burden of all those fruit creams, while leaving you the cherry cordials.

Ack...

What's this???

PEOPLE GETTING ALONG, OFFERING TO SHARE, AND WORKING THINGS OUT PEACEFULLY IN A THREAD??!!!

We can't be having any of that!!!

Surely ONE person will be willing to fight me over the fruit creams?

We've got to keep our ratings up here, people!

And a quarrel over candy is the closest thing we have right now to clickbait. :p

A friend who has too much chocolate, and is willingly give it away??!!

We might keep you around for a bit longer.

Oh no.. but I do know what I will get.. I just bought a whole box of my favourite ones... because I was mad that they do not sell just those alone at the stores, you have to buy few other flavours as well in that package. The basic flavour is sold alone also. I had already bought few of those packages where were are all three flavours, and there were not enough my favourite ones.

Which is basically toffee filling, but it is flavoured with liquorice. I don't even know if these count as a chocolate as they have more toffee than chocolate.

So, I bought that whole thing.. 3kg (6,6lbs), I guess I am set for quite a long time for what comes to those.

Luckily, I do not have to arm wrestle with many people I know to get these ones.

But what comes to those regular chocolate boxes, I don't really have a favourite, maybe one certains truffle goes for me. But really don't fancy much from those assorted boxes.

Even if I don't fancy anything, for peasants I can even throw the pineapple ones! (They even made pineapple a very own box where you can only get it.. I don't get it! It is found in every store, where as I have to hunt for my liquorice ones online..:cautious:)

Those your cream ones are okay too, even though, they are not that common in here or the boxes I have lately seen laying around. But I wouldn't fight you for those, you can have them.:D So no fight from here either.. unless you are after my liquorice, which I highly doubt... even though, there is plenty to share, I cannot eat those all, do you want one?

When like presents me with a box of chocolates, I hope it's from See's Candy, and I prefer soft centers, though nuts and chews are fine too. When it comes to See's I'm not overly picky. Despite my affinity for soft centers, my favorite is a chocolcate/caramel mix.

Despite enjoying nearly every type and flavor of chocolates, I would throw anything coffee flavored to the peasants.

Tazzo has been so kind as to think of a candy that can be used to ward off mobs of angry peasants.

Forget royal declarations of, "Let them eat cake!"

Let them eat pineapple candy instead.

If I'm not in the mood to fight over candy -- or if I've eaten too much of it and couldn't roll myself into a combat pose even if I tried -- Tazzo has given me a wonderful new strategy!

I'm simply going to stalk the people who appear to have the MOST candy because: 1. surely they'd get sick of it at some point, and want to give some away, or 2. they'll feel guilty for having so much candy, and thereby have no choice but to (also) peacefully give it away.

Easy as (hedgehog) pie!

Oh dear.

Tall Timbers just had to go and do it.

I fear we have some coffee-loving peasants amongst the crowd that will be staging a coup even before the chocolates are sorted.

Well...

At least it will bring in the ratings (perhaps we could even sell tickets...)

Uh Oh.

Why do I have a feeling this isn't going to go well?! (At least, not for me.)

You're welcome to the coffee flavored soft center, but stay away from the fruit flavored! Those are mine. The grand gesture of offering you the coffee flavoreds keeps me in the good with the Man upstairs... Hebrews 13:16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. 1735682155316.png

This thread reminds me of one comedian who said as a child he was highly allergic to peanuts. The kids at school would shove him against the wall and make him play Russian roulette with a bag of revels chocolates.

How in the world is a man supposed to upload his photo of chocolates without the foreboding message of "this file is too large"
