Carter was a good person (I believe), however he was a terrible President. Either by his own choice, or the Socialist Liberals in his Cabinet, he almost destroyed the US Military. Trust me. I was serving overseas during his Presidency, and suffered and witnessed the effects of his Policies on Soldiers. Especially the Enlisted personnel. This was the first time in our History that Soldiers who were married had to apply for and receive Food Stamps just to feed their families.

Now, he did do good things after he left Office with all his Charity Work, and I respected him for that. But, we all know "good works" will not gain a person eternal salvation. No. I am not judging him. I do not know what his spiritual status was at the time of his death. Just pointing out that if he was not "right with God," those good works are worthless to him now.

I hope if anyone else posts in this memoriam that they care enough and possess the grace that shows respect for the loss of Jimmy Carter as they might consider the heartbreak of his family at this time.

Thank you.

by all accounts, he was a Christian. but, that is ultimately between him and The Lord...

If you were a Carter fan, that 's fine. Or, if you were referring to my comment, then I was respectful of the man, while being truthful about his Presidency. Another point I would like to make is that Carters death is a devastating loss for his family, but the death of any person is a devastating loss for their families as well.

Please remember that God is no respecter of persons, and if we follow His lead, we must value one life as much as all lives. I remember how the world reacted to the deaths of Kennedy and Elvis and that was truly elevating them to god like status IMO. There was a song about that and it said something like this. "Who did they think he was?" Conway Twitty recorded it.
Spoke of how MILLIONS around the world mourned their deaths.

He then ended the song with the death of Jesus...and how only the women around the cross at His feet mourned Him. "Who did they think He was..."

I always remember this when a Personality/Politician dies. Why do we (the world) elevate the death of a man/woman above the death of Jesus on the Cross?

I doubt the Carter family is experiencing a lot of heartbreak at this time. Carter lived to the ripe old age of 100 and had a full life. He was a dedicated Christian who lived out his beliefs; unlike some in politics who only pay lip service. I'm sure he'll be missed, but more than that I'm sure his family is looking forward to seeing him again.

I did find the Donald's Truth Social post about Carter pretty interesting: "I just heard of the news about the passing of President Jimmy Carter. Those of us who have been fortunate to have served as President understand this is a very exclusive club, and only we can relate to the enormous responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History."

Apparently he sees the presidency as an "exclusive club." That about says it all.

The presidency is an exclusive club as any person who serves in a political leadership role well knows. Not everyone serves. However, everyone who votes is responsible for giving an American candidate the privilege to serve.

This is a memoriam thread.

I would ask that those who feel compelled to make implied attacks and judgements against President Carter or President Trump to please stop,or reconsider posting that.

Those who knew Jimmy grieve his passing greatly. Especially his only child and daughter, Amy. Because now she is without both parents.
Her mom Rosalynn passed in 2023.
Her funeral was the last public appearance of President Carter when he left Hospice care so to attend.

Jimmy Carter served God all his days and especially after he left the White House.

He wielded the hammer and built houses for his charity, Habitat for Humanity.

Today those who grieve his passing are doing so in the warmth and comfort of homes Jimmy and others with him built.
That charity lives on. One of many legacies of President Carter .

Let's show respect for the dead. Because one day we shall pass on. And therein leave behind people who will have the opportunity to talk about us.

President Carter's State funeral will take place January 9th.

God bless and keep him in his eternal peace. Amen.

Couldn't that also be said about Trump?Hence that's why I asked you, why did you mention Trump?
If you read through the thread you will see someone else introduced President Trump's name.

Let us not further derail this thread dedicated to the passing of President Carter.

Carter has stated that he supports same sex marriage in civil ceremonies. He said: "I believe Jesus would. I don't have any verse in scripture ... I believe Jesus would approve gay marriage, but that's just my own personal belief. I think Jesus would encourage any love affair if it was honest and sincere and was not damaging to anyone else, and I don't see that gay marriage damages anyone else"
President of the Human Rights Campaign (said of Carter) . “In recent years, he became a prominent voice in support of LGBTQ+ rights, speaking out for marriage equality at a time when most national leaders in the U.S. still opposed it.
I'm not going to say that opinion sent him to hell but I wouldn't call it the opinion of a born again Christian.

Carter said that he was hoping to live long enough to vote for Harris. Which doesn't make much sense considering he was supposedly against abortion and she believes in abortion at any time in the pregnancy.

Yeah, he was a great guy SMH

Even as a young teen, utterly devoid of anything political, I knew the country was in trouble under him.
It has been reported that Clinton called him treasonous.
He was in no way good for America. Whether or not he was a true Christian I’ll leave it to the Lord:

The level of disrespect and depravity for a memorium thread speaks to the level of depravity in the spirit of the individual.

Likely it is hoped I'll ask that this thread be closed. Instead I think it should remain open so that those in Christ may witness where we would be were it not for God's grace.

Rest in peace President Carter.

I think you may be new here. Either way, this is a discussion forum, that is what we do here. Now you may think the world of Carter and that's great. But when you start claiming someone is a Christian, that merits discussion. Memorial thread or not. While I would not and did not say Carter was not a Christian, I do question his support of gay marriage and that He believe Jesus would support it. And I question his support of Harris because she is radically liberally left. If questioning if someone is truly born again is offensive to you, probably it's best for you to just scroll past comments like mine. Because I believe this is a forum and I'm going to discuss because that's what a forum is for. BTW Carter is known for his "good works" and that is to be admired, but it doesn't save one soul. We are saved by grace for good works.

It isn't discussion. It's patent proud disrespect for the dead.

And though you try you all cannot behave as such and then presume to tell Christians what does or does not Save.

I'm making this clear one last time, this is a discussion forum. That is what is done here. If you want a memorial, go to your Facebook page and have at it. We have moderators here for a reason. I have been here a long time and no one has ever said discussion wasn't allowed in a thread. Any thread. Because that's what we are here for. You're in the wrong place if you're not here to discuss. Discussion is not disrespect for anyone dead or alive. So again, if you want only certain comments, go over to Facebook and you can delete what doesn't agree with you.

And though you try you all cannot behave as such .

This is a discussion board. You may want to try blogging, or somewhere where you can dictate what is being said and only your opinion counts and is heard. This place isn't it. We discuss here if there was an issue with that a moderator would have said so.
