As people who are always on the internet, most of us are probably overweight.

My doctor today recommended I get on a restrictive calorie diet. I have tried downloading a few hopefully free apps that would help me jot down my progress, which would motivate me to lose more weight. So far, all of the apps want to charge an arm and a leg to pay for their services. Does anyone know of any free weight loss services, apps, or websites that focus on calorie counting?

I also plan on doing intermittent fasting, where I fast for 14 hours, from 4:30pm to 6:30am, and make sure I'm eating only 2356 calories a day.

I am currently 5'10" and weigh 283lbs, which is very obese according to the BMI scale. My goal weight is 174lbs, which is the highest BMI number for a normal BMI for my size and age.

This thread is for anyone who wants to write about their weight loss past or present journeys, weight loss goals, talk about weight loss, what diets the Bible talks about, and what God says about our bodies.

Honestly ? U don't need an app . Eat less , especially of man made foods , burgers , chocolate , pizzas etc . Eat lots more fruit and veg , every day . Exercise for at least one hour a day even if it's just a brisk walk . When u r home , don't sit in front of a screen all day , do some house work . Clean your place up even if it's already clean . Sort your cupboards out , clear out your junk , organise your wardrobe , anything , but keep moving even in your own home . Buy smaller plates and throw away your big ones . Don't eat anything at all after 6 pm .
It requires a complete change of lifestyle and mindset . U want to look good in your wedding outfit don't u ? 😜 .

2300 calories is still quite a lot , try to go down to no more than 2000 , a bit less if possible . One of the quickest ways to loose weight is the gall bladder diet , which means , no fat at all , not one drop of any kind of fat . It's what I do if I think I'm putting weight on , it works for me .just cut out fat totally .

Yes, well, it’d be great to be in great shape for that day/night.

I appreciate the support @Suze

I started my weight loss journey 1 !/2 years ago when i got high blod pressure. I was at 240 then. I did fasting for 16 hours a day and lost 20 lbs. Then i could not seem to lose much more.
3 1/2 months ago i found out i was borderline diabetic. That is when i started my keto diet of reducing carbs to 20 or less a day. I now weigh 180 and my goal is 165 someday. I am also around 5 10 and 67 years old.
Over eating sugar is what makes us fat. As long as the carbs are high in your blood stream fat loss is real hard. You have to cut your carb intake way down and try to reduce the calories by 500 everyday. Me i eat around 1500 to 2000 calories a day with very low carb intake.
Also you need to start walking a nice easy walk when you can. Start slow and walk half a mile a day then a little the next day till you can walk at least a mile without having a heart attack. I have been walking at least 1 mile after every meal and 3 miles inbetween, a total of 6 to 7 miles everday.
When you start keto and start looking at how many carbs are in most foods you will see just how much sugar we over eat and how some foods i had to give up at least untill i reach my weight goal, then i will be able to eat some of it again in moderation maybe depend on how my blood sugar diabetic thing has paned out.
Cuting carbs and walking has took my blood pressure way down to where im only take half a pill now and is getting low enough i my stop the meds soon. im runing 110/67 around there.
I used to have acid reflux and took tums everyday, After cutting carbs i have no reflux and dont take any tums anymore. If you do decide to do keto it will be tough at first but if you think of sugar as poison to your body it becomes easier.
Good luck on what ever you decide.

I didn’t ask for advice or help from anyone, otherwise this thread would be in the prayer section.

This thread was about sharing your weight loss journey.

What works for one person isn’t going to work for another.

I was once 275lbs and lost 70 pounds doing keto, intermittent fasting with lowering my calories...with little to no exercise.

I believe everyone's weight loss journey is different, just wanted to hear other people's stories.

Thank you.

I did share, why are you so fat now if you are so good at losing weight? Excuse me for sharing and caring.

clean food is expensive relative to processed foods, vegetables have relatively no calories but it's always the sauces or dressing that get you. drink tea with every meal if you can.. Ice tea no sugar or hot tea.
eat a small salad with every meal and it will curb your hunger.

Update: Welp, I’ve lost a total of 16.5 pounds so far since my heaviest weight this year, with little to no exercise. Been drinking more herbal teas, no caffeine. Just been eating below my calories and consuming more protein, usually by protein shakes with 1% fat milk. The pounds just keep falling off.

I think the big part of me losing this weight is weaning off almost all of my psych meds, which cause weight gain and increase appetite.

I seriously don’t think I need to be on any psych meds. It’s usually other people in my life who need therapy or Jesus.

I just love that you have been so open here sharing your psych med journey with us!
So encouraging to see the changes Christ has made in you!

I wanted to stand up for you and point out that I thought your post ( #6) was intended to share your story; and I do still see that when I go back and reread it (post #6) But honestly, this:
why are you so fat now if you are so good at losing weight?
was completely uncalled for :(

My Dr. recommended this one to me.
I don't have a fancy smart phone, so don't know how all the fancy parts of the app work (or if there is a fee to any of it) but I was able to get very basic features like calorie counting and food tracking to work on my laptop (free service)
I liked what little I was able to use, Um, I just have to actually remember to go and use it (translation: I don't use it much because then I have to face cold hard facts, like that pastry I like which contains 400 calories  )
If I recall correctly, I could put in my food and where it's from and a list would generate to calculate the calories (like that pastry from the local convenience store! I gave the item name and store name and it gave me the calories. The next time I was there I checked and sure enough it was correct)
Grr, now I have a mental image in my mind to keep me away from them.
I was explaining calorie counting to my son yesterday (while enjoying said pastry which I had not had in a very long while) and explained the idea of 1200 calories daily. He tilted his head and said "So if you eat three of those you have had your daily calorie limit?" (I never eat 3, can hardly eat 1, but now that is stuck in my head  )
Does anyone know of any free weight loss services, apps, or websites that focus on calorie counting?

Okay, just looked again, and there is a premium subscription, but last time I used it about 6 months ago there were free features, never hurts to hit 'sign up" and see what it does for you.

I think the only reason I was put on psych meds in the first place is that someone may have laced drugs or spiked alcohol I was drinking over 16 years ago and possibly took advantage of me.

When I woke up from that black out, I went to my mothers, looked at myself in a mirror (to me I looked like a demon), I told her that I think I need to check myself into a hospital and so I was checked into a 5150 hold for 72 hours. I literally thought I was in hell.

After that, they put me on medications, diagnosed me with something I had no symptoms of and I just believed them because they were the most high ranked psychiatrist in Orange County, California.

I literally went right back to taking a college painting class that semester, almost the same week I got out, got my first vehicle and a job all in the same month I got out.

I've even held down two jobs a few years later, as a restaurant server at the Olive Garden and a pharmaceutical delivery driver at the same time after I moved away from family.

So my psychiatrist, now nurse practitioner changed that diagnosis to a different diagnosis because "I was so high functioning"

After almost eight years of being on the same meds, I got a therapist and started really opening up about things.

Eventually they added another diagnosis and took me off the prescriptions I was on for the longest time, put me on something else and I finally felt comfortable dating again after 10 years of celibacy (still celibate 2 years later and don't plan to lose it until after marriage)

Now I'm taking charge and choosing nurse practitioners who will work with me because I think the entire mental health industry takes advantage of young adults and basically chemically castrates them until they get to the age of 35-36. At least that seemed like my case.

Before I was on meds I was VERY skinny. After meds I gained a bunch of weight. Most of the meds I was taking had weight gain as a side effect. I'm just over it.

I'm sure he is happy with himself....

Update: well, yesterday was probably my most completed macro day, with every macro (protein, carbs and fats) at around 100%.

I ended up buying a case of muscle milk Pro33g high quality protein shakes, which have no added sugar, a protein amount of 33 grams and a low fat content. That way, anything I eat carb wise will go to carbs and fats most likely.

This morning I’m eating a small French baguette and one of those muscle milks. (I ended up buying a French baguette and French bread from hellmart I think, just to try out)

Anyways, it’s around 4:30am right now, tons of energy like usual, ready to get the day started.

Here's one lady's weight loss journey......

Think about this whenever a 7th Day Adventist invites you to their false prophecy conference.

explained the idea of 1200 calories daily.
and yes, I know this is a lower calorie count number, but I wanted a number my son could easily "connect" with. The light bulb moment for him doing the math and seeing how quickly something small and full of junk could easily fill up the allowed number for the day was priceless.
