Hello, I don´t want to be long, because I would be extra long, too many words.

Anyway... I was saved 7 years ago by encountering Christ, when I was on the bridge to jump off and end my life, I met Christ there and saved me. It was a journey but... struggling... so much time and I realized... I believe in the Lord the whole time, but ... I don´t follow Him... I dont obey Him... dont live the Word. I have confession but not life. I found the way... but all the time... I havent been walking the way...

""Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?' Then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers'" - Matthew 7

Surrender... complete surrender.... is it not why do we struggle as Christians? It is serious. Are we willing? Do we want this? Because it costs everything. I have free will, it is my decision... it is my fault... I can follow the Lord but I aint doing that. And heartbroken over myself... up and down... struggling... I cant be living like this....

Anyone know this? Share ur story please.

You're right. It is serious, and we need to willingly surrender our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, so we really have no one to blame but ourselves if we are not doing so. At the same time however, whether you realize it or not, you have properly defined this as a struggle. A struggle is a fight, and we are not only fighting against our own ungodly desires, but we are also wrestling against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places. Therefore, we need to familiarize ourselves with the spiritual armor God has given us and utilize it daily in this spiritual war if we are ever to overcome this world, even as Jesus overcame it himself.

Thanks for reaching out looking for answers.

I'll post a short video at the end with more details than I have time to type here right now. After asking the Lord for the truth, please listen twice. Then I'll be happy to answer any questions you have as soon as I can.

The first thing is that I am very happy that you did not kill yourself. That would have not ended your suffering. That would have only made your worst enemy happy.

The devil comes to steal, to kill and to destroy. I am come to give life and that more abundantly.
-Jesus

The second thing that seems to need clarity is that someone taught you Matthew 7:21 incorrectly.
It is Not a recommendation from Jesus that those people, those prophets just did not work hard enough or surrender fully.
Let's get this straight. NOBODY surrenders fully or lives as unless life. Those who teach that false message are who Jesus rebuked in Matthew 7. They were teaching a false gospel that sends people to Hell.

What did Jesus say?
"I never knew you."
Why?
Because they trusted in their good works, like preaching in Jesus name, made Him Lord of their lives also known as surrender their lives to Him.
Confident they were saved based upon their ability to cast out devils and many other works.

Please take note that they had their confidence in their selves.
What does Scripture clearly tell us in familiar passages like John 3?
The Father loved us so much that He demanded perfect obedience to surrender your life for your sins?
No, He knows you failed already.
He is the One Who gave His only begotten Son. Jesus was the only man in history that was the lamb without spot or blemish. He alone paid for sins when He alone surrendered His life to suffer torture beyond our comprehension and die for us.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
That's Who and what the Jews rejected. They believed upon themselves. They taught that things like keeping the law saved. It doesn't.

John 1 begins with this sad fact.

11He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

He came to Israel/Judah and the leadership rejected Him, trusting in their ability to apply what does not apply to salvation from sin and Hell.
Those who received Him to become the sons of God did so by believing/trusting the Only begotten Son named Jesus.

It's not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy that He saved us.
Titus 3:5

And Ephesians 2 says, for by grace are you saved through Faith and that, not of yourselves, it is the Gift of God, Not of works lest any man should boast.
What did Jesus say that many would boast of?....
preaching/prophesied in Your Name.....casting out devils......many wonderful works.

Please listen closely with prayer and an open Bible for this blessing from God's promises.

I've not met too many people who do not struggle at times. It gets easier. The first 50 years are the hardest. OK, a bit of an exaggeration. 45 years.

The problem is as you describe it. Self will is a powerful enemy. It can be a shock when we realise that we are not as good as we think we are.

When I went through this stage, I was encouraged by a friend to ask God to make me willing to do His will. I was like Jacob, struggling with God because what He wanted was not what suited me.

God knows exactly what we are like. He only asks us to come clean and confess our helplessness. You've made a good start. God will often give us a word that will help us. I prayed that God would lead me in the path of righteousness for His sake, for His glory, not mine. (Psalm 23).

God will answer a prayer that is consistent with His word. Pray in Jesus name. Ensure that you have no unconfessed sin and no unforgiveness in your heart. You should have some peace after committing your way to Jesus. Remember that persistence is important. Lord Jesus said to ask and keep on asking.

This is your part. It is the "work out your salvation in fear and trembling". (Philippians 2:12) God's part is in the next verse, "For it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of His good purpose.…"

This is not talking about the initial, born again experience. It is the ongoing process that God uses to set us free from those things that hider our walk with Him. If you were not born again, you would not care about your walk with Jesus. God is already working in you to make you dissatisfied with your current experience.

One day, it will all come together. You will realise that God's will for you is better than anything that could imagine, let alone attain to. You will see that everything that you need has already been done for you in Christ. You will see that nothing apart from Christ is acceptable to God and you will quit trying in your own strength.

Look at what God has done for you in Christ. It is most encouraging. I did a study a few years ago. "In Christ" or "In Him" is stated at least 50 times in the NT.

Christians know Lord Jesus as the Way and the Truth. Many do not know Lord Jesus as the Life. Yet Lord Jesus came that we might have life more abundantly. The word "life" is not talking about the life we get from Adam. It is the life that Lord Jesus has in Himself (John 5:26). You have this life. You just do not know it. Ask Lord Jesus to reveal to you what it means. Ask Him to live out His life in you, through you and in place of the natural life that you inherited from Adam.

Those who do not know Christ as the Life are people trying to sit on a stool with only two legs. It's unstable and hard work to stay balanced. Sooner or later, they fall off. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Knowing that is stability.

You're right. It is serious, and we need to willingly surrender our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, so we really have no one to blame but ourselves if we are not doing so. Thank you, yes, agreed.

I am sorry, having troubles with my keyboard, so am being short. Am so thankful for the time u gave me and ur words. I think I know what u r saying but I mean it is not my works, but what Christ has done and who I became in Him, to live from that place. But true faith has works. God says I am forgiven, faith acts like it. Surrender is problem, and it is my fault

Hey I am so sorry that you are struggling.

I understand though, I have been in the same boat, especially now in my life, not really wanting to live or wondering what is the point of anything. And then there is that conviction of all the things I could have followed.

I think it is great that you have come here so strongly though and open about your conviction. I myself desire to have a very narrow life with God. I think one of the biggest things is that we need more accountability and encouragement amongst us, and that is hard to do without transparency.

I hope on CC you get that accountability and encouragement you need. Or you can talk to me or anyone if you ever wanted a chat. I think what helps me is knowing that the Lord will pick us back up when we stumble. We are not perfect but we can be blameless. We are still sinners but we are not slaves to sin.
  • Psalm 145:14 – "The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down."
  • Proverbs 24:16 – "For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again."

It is so important to find the balance between making sure we don't become accusers against ourselves and also do not abuse Christian liberty.

It is so great to meet you!!!!

I became a Christian when I was very young and when I became a teenager I walked away. I got into marijuana and alcohol and hung out with the wrong crowd. I always considered myself a Christian, but now, I know that I was not following Jesus and his path. I just recently found Jesus again about 3-4 years ago. I am now getting to know who he is and how hard the struggles are for dying to thyself. It is definitely difficult at times, but as i continue to surrender, it gets easier and easier. The convictions and when God is sculpting is still is a hard process to go through, but each time I go though a season it get's easier as I trust in the lord and I realize how thankful I am for God loving me so much to correct me. May God bless you and I pray that you continue to walk with him. I will be praying for you. Thank you for sharing your story.

Christians are forgiven for our lives before committing to Jesus and are assured that we are a new creation. However, the old creation is not totally removed from us, but rather this old creation tends to hang around in the form of old habits and ways of thinking. It is possible to break this problem, but it takes time (years if not decades) and a great deal of conscious effort.
