The scriptures, without a shadow of a doubt. It's the truth. Every time the Lord was tempted, He responded with 'It is written'. I believe it's vital for that one on one time with the Lord directly.

2 Timothy 3

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 4

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Consistently reading the Bible has been the most important habit for me. I start every single morning with God's Word. No matter how busy my day may be, I always make time to open my Bible, read His Word, pray and spend time in worship before anything else. The more I read Scripture, the more I understand God's character and His will. Prayer naturally flows from that and it has strengthened my relationship with Christ over the years.

I love this thank you very much.

I usually pray every morning and read my bible but with time I find myself dropping out from God😓

You're welcome! ❤️ We all go through seasons when we don't feel as close to God as we'd like. Don't be discouraged.

One thing that has helped me is keeping my morning time with God as my highest priority, even when I don't feel like it. Our feelings come and go, but God's faithfulness never changes.

Keep praying, keep reading His Word and trust that He is at work even when you don't feel it. He promises that if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us (James 4:8).

What’s one habit that has helped you grow closer to God?

Whether it’s prayer, worship, journaling, or reading Scripture, I’d love to hear what’s made the biggest difference in your walk with Christ.

Hi @Maryann2003,

Two thing that helped my walk with God become more of a fixed, daily habit is subscribing to Our Daily Bread (online.) It sends out a free daily devotional that, no matter how busy I am, takes only a few minutes to read each day. If I miss my regular Bible reading, I at least get a few verses in with each devotional.

The other thing that God taught me to do was to pair my prayer time with things I have to do everyday anyway.

I have to wash dishes everyday, so now it's a lot easier to remember to pray as I'm heading to the sink.

Welcome to CC and I hope we can be of help to you in your faith! :)

Thank you so much for this wonderful message, I am really grateful. How do I subscribe to daily devotions.

Daniel prayed 3 times a day. No doubt this helped him refocus his heart and mind upon God.

I used to wear a rubber band around my wrist. Every time I noticed it, I would focus my attention back towards God. After awhile, it was my habit to focus on God moment by moment. This is the abiding spoken of in John 15 which leads to walking in the Spirit.

There is a website called Our Daily Bread (it's a different company and not part of this site) where it has an option to subscribe.

I'm sure there are many others out there that do this -- just Google "sign up for daily Bible devotions" and you'll probably find plenty of additional options, too. :)

To answer your question what has helped me most if definitely reading scripture with an open mind and heart, the more you read the more the bible reveals, if i would read again, a certain book , I would have new understandings of some verses I missed before, also what helps me is prayer to God, i start with thanking him and ask for forgiveness then I ask a few things for others nut rarely for myself if I do ususlly if to have a better understandint of scripture, the Father knows what we need , little need to remind him.

Blessings and Welcome MaryAnn

Thank you very much, I really do appreciate this alot.

Gathering with other Christians for our weekly Sunday School Class. We always have a time to greet, time to pray together, and an in-depth study of the Bible. I am closest to God when I'm sharing Him with others.

Howdy and welcome to the forum.

One practice that has helped me in multiple areas of my life, emotional and social, is when I criticize somebody in my mind I have made a habit of stopping and figuring out why they are like that. It makes me less critical and I can treat them better after that. Usually...
