hi everyone, i'm married but i thought i could add a few worthy points. definitely must have a RECENT picture. now this next part may seem to be a turn-off, but a thorough questionnaire may be the way to go. if a form is a 100 questions that that's what could be the success point. think about this, people looking for a long term relationship should acquiesce to the time it takes to abide in this. the more you know about someone BEFORE you date, the better the chance it has in succeeding!!!

I love this a lot, but I am a little concerned about listing what someone is praying for in a husband. Unfortunately, not everyone is genuine, and some people can simply play the part until they have someone where they want them. It’s a sad reality, but it happens all the time.

I think preferences should be kept more general, such as age range and denomination. I also think the app should prioritize showing people who closely match a user’s stated preferences before showing others the algorithm thinks they might be compatible with but who are outside of those preferences. Compatibility suggestions can still be helpful, but they should come after people who meet the user’s actual preferences.

It would also be helpful to include preferences regarding marital history. For example, some people prefer someone who has never been married, while others may be open to someone who has been married but not divorced, such as a widower. Some people may also prefer not to match with anyone who has been divorced. Giving users the ability to specify those preferences could help them find people who align more closely with their values.

I also think there should be a limit on how many profiles someone can view, perhaps with a cooldown every four hours or so. I used an app once that would time me out and end with a Bible verse, which I thought was a really nice touch. Maybe this app could end with a daily devotional or something similar to encourage users and help keep the focus on God and loving the body of Christ.

I also think there should be an option to accept or ignore a message, similar to social media platforms, as well as block future messages from that person. Some people can become offended if you read their message but aren’t interested in interacting with them. In my experience, people can become quite unpleasant about it.

I agree that some way to limit # of profiles viewed per day would be good. Not sure if that's the right way to do it exactly, but we want people to think carefully rather than browsing profiles like an amazon store. Maybe limiting to just a few matches per page would be enough.

One thing that requires frequent sign in now is the chapta security anti-bot ware. Many of my posts have to be copied and pasted (hopefully back to the same format) after writing. When it will not save and post, the system requires me to go through the chapta security again and when I return, the message is incomplete. To correct that, I delete and paste from the clipboard, which sometimes messes up the format. I'm wondering if that's an issue with the new app?
If I understand correctly what you are saying...

When making a local computer copy from the post editor - toggle into BB code and copy that to the clipboard to preserve the format until it is pasted back into the thread post editor later so that you can return to where you left off.

Can that be done on a Android based phone or is this in an editor function at the top of the post?

Incorporate 'verse of the day' rooms from which users can choose to enter. These might make for good con'verse'ation starters like, "So, you also chose this verse today..."

in my dating career, many women acted out a different person then after being together, little by little they morphed into the real person they were. it's like: "i got him now, i can do what i want". i peacefully say i disagree with your 4th paragraph. the time it takes someone to read a profile is personal & different for everyone. to cut it off delves into their freedom & is labeled in the "control" category.

I agree a long questionnaire is key.

I'm thinking about how to ensure a recent picture and now all I can think of is a message like "your picture has expired. Please update it"

Though practically if profile pictures expire and have to be renewed, that would likely be a good way to drive traffic to people still active on the site. Abandonded profiles wouldn't show a profile pic.

Hi Robo!

Thank you so much for thinking of Singles! I can only speak from my own experience, but here's what I've learned from being in the Christian single community for a very long time.

1. I would advocate for paid memberships.

I've been on free sites, and when there's nothing to lose, everyone tries -- including a large number of marrieds, which is why I gave up on free sites. I was also on eharmony, Christian Mingle, and Christian Cafe, and while of course, a paid subscription doesn't solve everything, it's at least a first layer of screening. A recent Google stat estimates that 65% of people on dating apps are married or already in relationships.

A fee might cut down the number of marrieds if Mrs. Sally sees a charge on the credit card bill showing that Mr. Sam just paid for a membership to "ChristianSingles.com."

I know this will upset those who believe all things Christian should be free, especially since a dating app will attract a lot of people who can't/don't work, so if they have better ideas for how to help keep the community safe, I'm certainly open to other ideas.

And I would be all for some kind of donation fund where those who wanted to could help subsidize memberships for anyone having a rough time and couldn't pay.

2. Enforce some sort of screening process to make people verify who they are through photos.

Catfishing is rampant and a big reason why singles give up on these sites

3. Include live chat rooms.

Mingle and Cafe used to have them -- I don't think they do anymore -- and I wouldn't go back to a site without one.

It was a lot easier to get to know people and/or catch them in lies when they had to talk to people in real time, and in a group.

For instance, there was a guy bantering with me one time I entered Mingle chat and another girl wrote me and said, "Just to let you know, he hits on every new girl who comes in. He likes to throw everything at every wall to see if anything sticks." She also told me that several girls were talking to him, and that he never answered questions about his life.

Now I understand there's a fine line between gossip and being informative -- but I definitely wasn't interested in a player. And I would not have known without the chat.

4. If it's discovered that someone is married or in a relationship, how is that handled?

How does administration handle that? And to what extent are members allowed to let others know? If someone puts in their profile, "BY THE WAY, SALLY H. IS ACTUALLY MARRIED!!" -- how far would that go?

5. No one wants to think about this, but I'm the person who, when presented with an idea, will think of everything that can go wrong.

How will reports of abuse/sexual misconduct, whether in word or deed, be handled?

I once heard of a of a sexual assault on a date from Christian Mingle. I don't know to what extent the victim went to when informing the administration, but I was told the perpetrator's account went on as if nothing happened -- possibly endangering others.

I don't know how things like that would be handled, especially from a legal standpoint.

What if you have the victim trying to warn other people, saying, "USERX37 IS A PREDATOR!" I know cases like this will boil down to "He said, She said," but you can count on things like this happening -- even if it's not physical, but someone saying inappropriate things or sending inappropriate photos.

And what happens when you have people who cross the line into stalking, etc.?

I know not every problem can be prevented, but I do know that with a dating app, these problems are going to occur. It's not a matter of if they will happen, but rather, how big they will become.

Thank you for taking the time to ask for our input!

I would be thrilled to feel there was an option for Singles that was truly concerned about honesty and safety.
Agree for paid membership.

On other site now they can verify members by giving you a selfie, just between site and member. Then if selfie matches picture posted, u will get a "verified" badge.

But no matter what, people should have common sense. Not to become romantic dumbs.

for people who get robbed, abused from dates, I think that is highly preventable with some common sense.

About your concern of married people pretending single, that can be easily solved by meet in person, check names, circles.... don't get involved with anyone if don't even know their social circle.

Don't get too attached before meeting in person. Writing emails phone calls is not dating. Meeting in person starts casual socialize.

I know you gals who are used to dating apps mean well. Of course you want to know who you are talking to. There are problems that will always exist with electronic communications. However, I value my life more than to and give it all to a system that constantly proves to be nefarious. It's not IF but when. It's Now and until the Lord's return. Scammers are the nature of the Internet and even phones, medical records, social media, mailing lists, etc.

The "old fashioned way" as of a few years ago was to talk and show interest in another human being. Today, it seems like a drive thru at McDonald's.
Look at the menu and pick your poison. You've got lots of choices, just scroll on and on.
The questionnaire idea sounds good on the surface.
There are a lot of problems that night not be obvious.
I'll mention just one.

The private information everyone provides will be recorded and sold on the regular web, the dark web, to Google, sold and traded forever until AI puts it in the Chinese style data base. You can never get that information deleted, but many problems can follow.
I can go into more details, but I will decide whether or not to participate based on a few things. Right now the dating app idea looks like a bad idea.

But you are on this site though, this site is better than dating app? Regarding private information.

It is as long as it doesn't trade ips and you don't answer a questionaire. The more Facebook you are accustomed to, the more the F🐝1 collects to sell to every company who has $. They aren't the only ones, but the ones who replaced their old operation with what used to be the biggest soc media platform.
Families see it as an innocent way to keep in touch with loved ones. The devilish government agencies, companies hackers, etc ect adnauseum use their info.

Here's just one example of one question.

Dating app does not ask more questions than this site.

It is all about social life. You are on this site to get some entertainment out of it, correct?

Just like old fashion social life, be careful, have common sense.

Go back and read the thread.
There are some suggesting 100 questions.

I just gave you some UNcommon sense with examples. I'm not into foolishness. I've taught crime prevention and ladies self defense as well as to elite soldiers.
That's not too common either, but it comes in handy when attacked.

I agree that we all should exercise that.
One of my concerns is what the biggest lawyer in my state threatened me with when I asked him a simple question.
"Anything and everything you say will be used against you."

It's not usually the person you are talking to. It's the thousands of data miners that are the biggest threats. Canadian and the European governments have just gone on the offensive as we speak. They are using lawfare warfare against normal human interactions now.

What do you think of this?

Hmm... Preaching against the dating app that the site owner is trying to start up... That's pretty bold. Quite brash. Not very intelligent, DEFINITELY not polite at all, but pretty bold. Also very rude.

Hmm... I think it is pretty bold and quite brash of you to suggest that the site owner intends to use the app to spy on the members and sell the data to the highest bidder.

Otherwise, what [directly] do the two things have to do with each other?

Did you quote the right person?

Lynx wasn't the one warning against possible data collection and selling it.
