Once I heard from a pastor, the desire to sin vs actual sinning are still different.

If we desire to steal, it doesn't mean we might as well steal anyway. We should first fight against our desire to steal, so that we will not actually steal.

Because when we actually steal, we create more damage.

Actually, the religion of this world is not disobedience to God. For that to be so, the world would have to recognize it was in disobedience to God rather than simply state He does not exist.

Why do you seem to be so angry? This is only a forum. No one is on trial and this is the BDF in which discussion is the desired result...even debate if you wish. And by the way, White had a bad head injury that most believe contributed to her many so called visions and dictates from God or a 'god' would probably be more accurate. :unsure:

If a person believes the commandments save them, perhaps they should decide if it is the commandments or White's teachings that save.

I don't believe either saves.

Temptation is the forerunner or desire. The Bible actually states that Jesus was tempted in all things as we are but He did not sin (give in)

14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4

The desire to sin is not sin until you give in.

The temptation is not a sin until you give in.

Jesus was tempted.

The desire of the flesh gets stronger each time we give in.. Jesus never gave in so the desire never became stronger but only weaker as He submitted to the will of the Father.

We need to follow the example of Jesus.

The more we give in to sin the stronger it becomes. The more we reject sin the weaker the desire becomes.

Original sin is a catholic doctrine that makes Mary perfect and changes other doctrines to make it work.

But while we are born with inherited sinful flesh, that does not makes us guilty of sin. Sin is a choice and when we are born we have not choosen to sin.
Original sin teaches that we are guilty with Adam.. by being a descendent of Adam we are guilty.
"Original sin" is wrong.

We have all sinned.
Sin is the transgression of the law.
We all sin at some point and need salvation.

Your right .. The Commandment's don't save us... They just point out what disobedience is = SIN !
Doing the Will of God, as Jesus did .. Then having the Spirit of Christ and HIS Righteousness in our hearts, saves us to EverLasting Life.

The Lord is disappointed when His people place a low estimate upon themselves. He desires His chosen heritage to value themselves according to the price He has placed upon them. DA 668.1


But to pray in Christ’s name means much. It means that we are to accept His character, manifest His spirit, and work His works. The Saviour’s promise is given on condition. “If ye love Me,” He says, “keep My commandments.” He saves men, not in sin, but from sin; and those who love Him will show their love by obedience. All true obedience comes from the heart. It was heart work with Christ. As Christ lived the law in humanity, so we may do if we will take hold of the Strong for strength. But we are not to place the responsibility of our duty upon others, and wait for them to tell us what to do. We cannot depend for counsel upon humanity. The Lord will teach us our duty just as willingly as He will teach somebody else. If we come to Him in faith, He will speak His mysteries to us personally. Our hearts will often burn within us as One draws nigh to commune with us as He did with Enoch. Those who decide to do nothing in any line that will displease God, will know, after presenting their case before Him, just what course to pursue. And they will receive not only wisdom, but strength. Power for obedience, for service, will be imparted to them, as Christ has promised. Whatever was given to Christ—the “all things” to supply the need of fallen men—was given to Him as the head and representative of humanity. Before offering Himself as the sacrificial victim, Christ sought for the most essential and complete gift to bestow upon His followers, a gift that would bring within their reach the boundless resources of grace. “I will pray the Father,” He said, “and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. We do not have to discuss sin or the commandments really because this thread has 360 pages and 7,189 posts referring (mostly) to the op. The author of the op stated he is not SDA but it appears you are.

I have no problem with adherence to scripture and understanding that Christ died in our place but I do not agree with needing to keep the Sabbath. The law was not written to Gentiles and those who believe in Christ are not obligated to obey any part of it.

I was only responding to your adherence to White. This thread is not an SDA thread although certain SDA people certainly tried to make it so. I believe you responded on my thread (made some time ago) about concerns for White. Every post in that thread that I made, was backed up with proof of the often bizarre renderings of White. You chose then and apprently now also, to disregard all of it and still believe she was some kind of prophet. That, is your choice.

As for the rest of what you wrote, if you believe that I or anyone else, needs to follow the teachings of White, well, I already expressed why I would never do that here

I think there is nothing more to say about it other than the warning that White's teachings are not biblical. People sadly will sometimes be impressed by what is 'strange' or even bizzarre and White's renderings fit very will in that category.

The Ten Commandments are not the covenant. We have a covenant through the blood of Christ shed for us. I posted those scriptures a good many times in this thread. The distortion of scripture to seemingly prove one's private interpretation will always be deception and sadly, people will be led away from the actual gospel. Anyway, that topic has been beat to death in this thread and I am not going to discuss White. Thank you.

Thought I would come back and add to what I said above before someone claims I think sin is no problem. People in this thread have been accused of that exact thing over and over and currently there is another thread running wherein the same thing is occuring.

We do not have to keep the law....as in the OT keeping of it....because Christ fulfilled all of it. He is our righteousness and nothing we can do, no matter how good we think we are or how hard we try, is counted as any righteousness towards salvation.

As I said, if somone makes an issue of that, I say plainly, that, is THEIR issue because scripture tells us plainly our righteousness is as a filthy rage. That's in the OT and since so many in this thread have referenced the OT, it should be a familiar passage.

No, I do not think sin is without consquence and there are plenty of warnings in the NT regarding sin and its consequences.

Ellen White's writing present the same message and counsel as did all of God's Prophets .. One of obedience and honor to God. Especially of Noah, to the antediluvians, also of Elijah and John the Baptist. "Fear God and give Him Glory, for the hour of HIS JUDGEMENT is come." Rev. 14: 6-12

The Word says, and EGW echos .. that we Adventist are to preach "The Truth, Jesus" to these last days unbelieving people / to the world.

2Ti 4:2-5 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Not with White. Why do you people ignore actual biblical prophets and the book of Revelation, not to mention everything inbetween, and promote the false babblings of a woman who most likely needed deliverance from demonic deception and
physical attention from the best doctors available during her time on earth?

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, I Tim.4:1

The whole point of the "Ever Lasting Gospel", since the Fall in Eden has been God Wooing His children back to making the decision to Love & Obey Him. ALL mankind has been given a second chance, to make the right choice between God and Satan. That is what Ellen White's Book "The Great Controversy." is about. This Cosmic Conflict between Good & Evil .. This battle between Christ & Satan, for the souls of men.

You mean Ellen’s collections of plagiarism. She was a pro at faking it. She faked writing, faked being vegetarian, faked being a prophet. Her entire life was a hypocritical lie. Maybe you should ask God to show you the truth and quit following lies. It’s bad enough that you follow a false prophet but you actively recruiting and persuading others to turn away from Jesus and towards a false prophet and a day of the week is terrible.

YOU are an excellent example of how humanity often prefers comforting lies over convicting truths. In the end times, this manifests as a rejection of true prophetic voices ( eg. the Elijah Message, John the Baptist's message.) in favor of false prophets who validate the world's carnal desires. Eg. The World's Sabbath Vs God's Seventh Day Sabbath ... It's all about LOVE of God Vs love of your self.
  • The End-Time Condition: The Apostle Paul prophesied this exact modern condition: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables" (2 Timothy 4:3-4). Jesus also warned, "And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many" (Matthew 24:11).
  • The Rejection of Elijah: In Elijah's time, the nation of Israel embraced the false theology of Baal worship, promoted by the state (King Ahab and Queen Jezebel). When Elijah spoke God’s truth, he was not revered; he was belittled and blamed for the nation's problems. King Ahab denigrated him, asking, "Art thou he that troubleth Israel?" (1 Kings 18:17). The false prophets were feasted at Jezebel's table, while the true prophet was hunted and forced into hiding.
  • The Rejection of John the Baptist: John the Baptist came to prepare the way for Christ, yet the religious elite—who acted as false shepherds—belittled his message of repentance. Ellen White wrote extensively about the Final Attack on Prophecy and how the modern religious world continually denigrates true prophetic messages because true prophets call for self-denial, repentance, and strict adherence to God's law, which the modern world finds distasteful.

False prophets are promoted because they preach "peace and safety" when sudden destruction is coming.
The "False Prophet" of Revelation : The early Adventist Pioneers viewed the denigration of true prophets through the lens of Revelation's end-time prophecies, specifically regarding the "False Prophet" and "Babylon."

  • Identifying the False Theologies: Pioneers like Uriah Smith, J.N. Andrews, and James White identified the "False Prophet" of Revelation 16:13 and 19:20 not merely as a single individual, but as a system of apostate Protestantism. They taught that modern religious systems promote false theologies (such as the natural immortality of the soul, Sunday sacredness, and spiritualism) to unite the world against God's law.
