Who can explain the meaning of this?
In my Father's house are many mansions
The chuppah is the bridal chamber or marriage enclosure associated with the couple’s prepared private dwelling in the Father’s house.

The 12 Steps of the Hebrew Wedding Pattern

1️⃣ Shiddukh (שִׁדּוּךְ) – Arrangement / Match

The match is arranged between families.

Example often cited: the bride chosen for Isaac in Genesis 24.

2️⃣ Mohar (מֹהַר) – Bride Price

The groom pays the price for the bride.

Example: Jacob serving years to obtain Rachel.

3️⃣ Ketubah (כְּתוּבָּה) – Marriage Covenant / Contract

A written covenant agreement defining obligations.

Parallels this with the covenant given in Exodus 19–24.

4️⃣ Kiddushin / Erusin (קִדּוּשִׁין / אֵרוּסִין) – Betrothal

The bride becomes set apart for the groom.

The couple is legally bound though not yet living together.

5️⃣ Kos HaBrit (כּוֹס הַבְּרִית) – Cup of the Covenant

The covenant is sealed by sharing the cup.

Acceptance of the marriage agreement.

6️⃣ Mattan (מַתָּן) – Gifts to the Bride

The groom gives bridal gifts demonstrating commitment and provision.

7️⃣ Mikveh (מִקְוֶה) – Ritual Immersion

The bride undergoes ceremonial purification.

Symbol of cleansing and preparation.

8️⃣ Hachanat HaKallah (הֲכָנַת הַכַּלָּה) – Preparation of the Bride

The kallah (bride) prepares herself during the betrothal period.

She must remain ready for the groom.

9️⃣ Teruʿat HaShofar / HaKri'ah (תְּרוּעַת הַשּׁוֹפָר) – Announcement of the Groom

The groom’s arrival is announced with a shout or trumpet.

The bridal party prepares.

🔟 Nissuin (נִישּׂוּאִין) – Taking the Bride

The groom comes suddenly and takes the bride to the father’s house.

This completes the marriage legally.

1️⃣1️⃣ Chuppah (חֻפָּה) – Bridal Chamber / Canopy

The couple enters the chuppah, symbolizing the consummation and union.

Traditionally associated with a seven-day bridal chamber period.

1️⃣2️⃣
Seudat Nissuin (סְעוּדַת נִישּׂוּאִין) – Wedding Feast

The marriage supper or celebratory banquet with guests.

Condensed List

Shiddukh – match arrangement

Mohar – bride price

Ketubah – marriage covenant

Kiddushin / Erusin – betrothal

Kos HaBrit – covenant cup

Mattan – bridal gifts

Mikveh – ritual immersion

Hachanat HaKallah – bride preparation

Teruʿat HaShofar – announcement

Nissuin – taking the bride

Chuppah – bridal chamber

Seudat Nissuin – wedding feast

My other party pooper thoughts on the thief thing is this :

How do we know that the thief on the cross was saved, like we are all taught ?

The thief would normally have survived the crucifixion for a few days, it was a painful and slow death, but Jesus knew what the thief did not know, that they would be buried that day.

John 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

The Jews asked that the legs of those crucified be broken, because of the Sabbath day. In order to breathe adequately, the crucified victim periodically had to push himself up using his legs. Breaking the legs prevented them from doing that, thus hastening their deaths. They would suffocate. Had the thieves legs not been broken they would not of been buried that day.

This fulfilled the prophecy "His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;)" ( Deuteronomy 21:23 )

John 19:32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

So back to my question of how do we know the thief was saved?

Lets ask ourselves three questions, firstly, what did the thief mean when he said "Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom."? ( Luke 23:42 )

In John 6:14-15 the mulitude of people thought to make him King by force, believing he was to set up the kingdom there and then, freeing them from Roman oppression and bondage, not understanding he going to die for our sins.

So what about the disciples?

Matthew 20:20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

They had no idea that Jesus was talking about his persecution, suffering and terrible death at the cross. They said we are able, they also were clueless.

Prior to Pentecost, the disciples were clueless.

The risen Jesus, whilst withholding his identity asked the two disciples on the road to Emmaus why they were sad:

But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
Luke 24:21

Thinking the Messiah was dead, they had lost hope. They also had expected the redeemer of Israel to free them from Roman oppression.

Notice in Luke 22:32 Jesus says to Peter "and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." Peter was a disciple of Jesus, he was with him three and half years, and he saw Jesus risen, yet he still needed a conversion. So what was this conversion?

The conversion that changed them from being clueless, to men of power and authority preaching the Kingdom of God, was the outpuring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

See John 14:26

When the thief said "Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom." are we to assume that unlike everyone else even those closest to Jesus he knew what he was asking? Or did he expect Jesus' followers to rescue him and him lead a revolt against the Romans?

Keep that thought in mind as we ask the second question. Which Came First?

In Matthew 27:44 it says the thieves, plural, both thieves, were mocking Jesus. So did this come before the events recorded in Luke? Did he stop mocking Jesus? Or did this occur after the events recorded in Luke? Did he think that he might get rescued along with Jesus, so he sougth to gain favour with Jesus, and when he realised Jesus was not going to be rescued, started to mock Jesus also? We do not know, we can only assume.

Question 3, Why is this story about the thief being saved so popular?

The thief on the cross is commonly used as an example of how to be saved. Yet the Bible does not say the thiefs sinned were forgiven. Nor does it say the thief repented. The Bible does not tell us if the thief got saved or not.

Is this story so popular because it a consumer friendly gospel for our fast food society?

We just have to say a few words like "remember me" and we are saved?

Another reason it is popular is deaths door conversions, that give people a good feeling. People like to be comforted with the thoughts that if they can get their relatives that are on deaths door, to confess Jesus Christ, either by saying a few words or if they are unable to speak by nodding their head, or blinking their eyes, then they are saved and on their way to glory.

Thank God Uncle Slasher Charley blinked his eyes before he died. Its a feel good, consumer friendly gospel, and that is why it is so popular.

There is only one Gospel and God knows people's hearts and mind, He can recognize humility and honesty, so I trust Him.

The End.

I do not disagree. I was just saying take away the going to a heavenly paradise part and we have nothing in scripture to say the theif was saved or not.

Agree, it has been my experience that it is Calvinism which makes the entire Bible about, ordo salutis, who is saved, who is not saved.

However, what is reasonable to me is that Paradise where the dead who believed waited for the Resurrection.

I know there is a lot of controversy about the book of Enoch but this sounds like something you would find in there.

That would fit in with what I was saying about it being the grave - the place of the dead. No need to use that horrible word though :O Calvinism ;)

What does ? Please explain :)
Enoch 22 gives you a carved‑out cosmology inside a “great mountain,” four chambers where the dead wait consciously for final judgment, and the structure is moral, not random: one chamber holds the righteous, refreshed by a bright spring of water — a symbolic foretaste of vindication — another holds sinners who died without judgment, kept in great pain until the great day; a third holds those who suffered injustice, like Abel, whose spirit cries out for divine retribution; and the fourth is a darker holding place for the wicked who will face torment forever. The point is separation, anticipation, and moral clarity — Sheol is not one undifferentiated pit but a divided waiting ground where the dead are sorted by righteousness, injustice, and guilt until God’s final act.

Thanks for answering - I do not believe that but I found it interesting.

I read Enoch a long time ago but I can not remember that part. Then again I read so many pseudo books etc at the time it is not surprising I can not retain everything I read :) That is probably a good thing though, a memory wipe for all the extra Biblical stuff I read. :)

All books were required reading in college so i knew something in what you said sounded familiar and it reminded me of the chambers described in Enoch. Just sharing😊

It is not 100% fact as you suggest. The proof text people use is from 1 Peter 3:19, which is talking about Noah, not Jesus.
Ok
Believe what you want.
The facts are.
Lazar's was in paradise which was next to hell.
Jesus told a thief "today you will be with me in paradise" so there's another fact for you
The Bible says Jesus preached to those in prison. Just as the Bible says? there were people down there he preached to. And again paradise was next to hell

Luke 16:19–31 (The Rich Man and Lazarus)Jesus tells a story about two men who died. One (Lazarus) went to a place of comfort called "Abraham's bosom," while the other (the rich man) went to a place of torment. The text describes a "great gulf" fixed between the two sides, showing them within sight of each other. [1] (https://www.bibletrack.org/notes/resource/misc/Paradise.html)

Ephesians 4:8–10 (Descending to the Lower Parts)
The Apostle Paul writes that Jesus "ascended on high" and "led captivity captive," noting that before He ascended, He had also "descended into the lower parts of the earth"
Matthew 12:40 (The Heart of the Earth)Jesus compares His upcoming three days in the tomb to Jonah being "three days and three nights in the whale's belly," stating He would be in "the heart of the earth.

1 Peter 3:18–20 (Spirits in Prison)
Peter mentions that Christ was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, in which he went and "proclaimed to the spirits in prison" (often interpreted in Christian tradition as a proclamation in the realm of the dead). [1]

Luke 23:43 (Paradise Today)
While on the cross, Jesus tells the repentant criminal next to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise". Interpreters debate whether this paradise was still in the earth's lower compartments prior to His final ascension or referred to the presence of God

As we continue discussing John 14:2, the Lord Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions.” This tells us about the place that God has prepared in heaven. The kingdom of God is in heaven, and concerning heaven, the Lord Jesus revealed to the Apostle Paul that there is a third heaven.
2 CORINTHIANS 12:2
I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

If that is the case, if there is a third heaven, then there must also be a firts heaven and a second heaven.

The second heaven is where Lazarus the beggar was (Luke 16:19-31), together with the others whom the Lord Jesus saved, such as the thief who was also crucified on the cross on the right side of the Lord. He was taken to Paradise (Luke 23:43).

What, then, would the Lord Jesus reveal to us about where the first heaven is?

Regarding what we are asking the Lord about where the first heaven is, He revealed where it is.
He told the Pharisees that it is within you. But the Pharisees could not possibly enter the first heaven because they were not of God. What appears to be the reason why the Lord Jesus used the name “Pharisees” is because it was in relation to the Word of God.
They were worldly.

So what we see now is that the first heaven is actually here in this world.
LUKE 17:20-21
20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

The first heaven is basically the atmosphere where the clouds are.
...but yes it is actually part of earth. As it is included in the definition of earth

Again you have answer your own question correctly because you haven't read the whole Bible. Your ignorance really does work against you.

As Psalm1 noted, the first heaven is the atmosphere, and the second is what we call "outer space". These are identified in Genesis 1.

But how, then, can people enter the first heaven?

The Lord Jesus also revealed how people can enter the first heaven.
MATTHEW 18:3
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

According to the Lord Jesus, for a person to enter the kingdom of God, he must become like a little child.
What, then, is God’s revelation concerning the meaning of “a little child”? For us as human beings, a little child may be between one and three years old.
But what does God mean when He refers to a “little child”?

Here is God’s revelation concerning what “a little child” means to Him. It actually refers to an infant.
ISAIAH 28:9
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

Then the Lord Jesus declared that the first heaven is in the world or universe.
No, He did not.

But how, then, can people enter the first heaven?
By being conceived.

The Lord Jesus also revealed how people can enter the first heaven.
MATTHEW 18:3
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
You assume that "enter heaven" means "enter the first heaven" though the text says absolutely nothing about "first".

The Lord Jesus, in His role as the Son of the Living God (Matthew 16:16), surely entered the first heaven because He became like a baby before God. What is the characteristic of a baby, and why did God say “baby” rather than simply “a small child”?

The Lord Jesus said in John 3:12, “I have spoken to you of earthly things so that you may understand heavenly things.”

In earthly terms, one of the characteristics of a baby is innocence, as though the baby has not yet developed understanding or awareness.
And a baby has no ability to provide for itself. Instead, the baby depends completely on its mother for nourishment.
A baby also does not know how to hold a grudge or take offense.
Therefore, even if a baby is spoken to with hurtful or harsh words, those words do not affect the baby in the same way they would affect an adult.

Regarding God and the Word of God, these characteristics were seen in the Lord Jesus. Although people saw Him as exceedingly wise,
MARK 6:2
2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

He Himself claimed that He knew nothing and had no ability of His own, but depended entirely on His Father.
JOHN 5:19
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

Then the Lord Jesus declared that the first heaven is in the world or universe.

When the bible says "kingdom of heaven" it is usually referring to where God is, which is tge 3rd heaven .

When Jesus said "the kingdom of God is at hand", he was referring to " where the king is, is the kingdom".

That dynamic gets overworked in my opinion.

It is usually bent into a doctrine.
