Im reading Ezekiel at the moment and I've always thought of the four cherubim representing Matthew , Mark , Luke and John . Their four faces , Matthew being the lion , Mark being the calf , Luke being the man and John being the eagle . These cherubim , to me , represent the four Gospels going out into the world declaring the ' good news of the Kingdom of God . I have absolutely no idea why I think this , I always have since the first time I read Ezekiel many many years ago . It seemed very obvious and clear to me immediately and it still does but , I have no idea why or how I came to this conclusion .

IMO the FOUR angels with the four faces are the Four gospels, each revealing Jesus as Lion (Ruler with Authority, promised King, Apostle), Ox, (Harvest worker, Evangelist, promised Suffering Servant), Man (Son of Adam, Pastor, promised Seed of the Woman), and Eagle (Son of Heaven, promisedProphet like unto Moses). All four gospels contain evidence of all four fces, but each one highlights one in particular, the faces facing outwards in Ezekiel's vision.

The four wings of the four human-like bodies symbolise the four gospels being taken buy the Holy Spirit to the four corners of the world.

The calves feet are cloven to enable climbing mountains symbolising an ability of the evangels to draw close to God. How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news. Their burnished brass colour symbolises the judgment by the evangels of those God puts under their feet, the demonic powers. The four evangelists haev human hands: their own strength and ability is human. But they have the Holy Spirit lifting them up with the His strength in His wings to reach the lost. And all four evangelists present Jesus holistically in His four aspects. They are united as one message, hence their wing-tips touch one another. The evangels go straight forward without turning symbolising that the gospels are straight-forward, there is no shadow of turning in them. The living creatures appear as coals and lamps. The words of the gospels are like coals that heat and purify metals, (symbolising their power to purify hearts)

Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn,and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.
And like lamps that light the path ahead (Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.).

The wheels are blue (beryl), the colour symbolising abounding grace higher than the blue heavens and deeper that the blue seas. The wheels are full of blue, full of grace. The wheels are full of eyes, full of insight / revelation. The eyes in the wheels observe, discern and judge what they see on earth and in heaven. Wewill judge angels and nations. Maybe the wheels are the churches, with the eyes of saints on earth, and the eyes of saints dreadfully high in heaven, the saints/church being carried along by the wings of the Holy Spirit. When the living creatures (the gospels) are lifted up from the earth when the gospels are removed from the earth, and ceases to be preached at the last day, the churches (the wheels) will ascend from the earth to meet Jesus in the clouds at the resurrection.

The Divine glory is then described situated above the creatures and the wheels. 1:22ff .

We use the term 'electron cloud' to describe the probabilistic region around an atomic nucleus where electrons in an orbital are most likely to be found. Long story short, God was showing Ezekiel electron orbitals or 'shells'.

The Bible calls these orbitals 'wheels'.

Ezekiel 1:16 - The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

A 'wheel in the middle of a wheel' would be two electron orbitals or shells. These would be atoms like Carbon, Nitrogen and Oxygen. Not only was God showing Ezekiel atoms, but he was showing specific atoms that are also essential building blocks of life.

As we get deeper into the meaning, we will discover that God was showing Ezekiel how these 'wheels' form Nucleobases.

1. Adenine
2. Guanine
3. Cytosine
4. Thymine

The four base pairs become flesh:

John 1:14 (Young's Literal Translation) - And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth.

The information provided relating to the concept of Energy, DNA, Laws of Physics, etc by connecting it to the Temple, Holy of Hollies, Ark of the Covenant, etc is truly insightful to think about God being on that level.

It's more intriguing than Einstein and Relativity E=MC2.

It's more visionary than Tesla's concept of Electric Current.

It's more in line with Galileo who proclaimed God used the language of Mathematics to create the Universe.

Yes, math for physics; love for metaphysics.

Eze 1:1 Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

The context is visions of God.

It is not describing an atom or referring to the 4 Gospels or means DNA.

What would be the purpose be for showing an atom.

The way it explains things it does not apply to describing an atom.

The context is connected to God.

Eze 1:13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

Eze 1:14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

It seems like it runs and returns as it completes whatever it has to do.

Isaiah 66:15 The Lord comes with fire and "His chariots like the whirlwind" to execute divine judgment.

I would say it represents the chariot of God with the 4 wheels and is the operation and presence of God.

The spirit of the living creature was in the wheels which is the same meaning of Spirit of the LORD and spirit of man.

An atom is not given a spirit for that only applies to a living creature not an atom that is physical matter.

It is not describing an atom or referring to the 4 Gospels or means DNA.

This goes to the number 1 position of the silliest things I have heard.

There is no purpose, or benefit, for us to know about an atom.

Why would God be describing an atom to us and how does that fit in to the context of Ezekiel.

What will someone say next that the Bible is describing a grain of sand, or a tree branch.

Ezekiel is a book about judgement on Israel which God turns them to the truth.

So it is speaking of the operation and presence of God.

Some people think it's a description of a UFO...

This was a vision. Visions present a variety of symbols and images that may not necessarily be literal things.

In this vision, the four creatures symbolize Israel during the 40 years of wondering. The wheels represent the Holy Spirit of God moving and directing them. The eyes are in this vision what the tongues of fire were in the beginning of the book of Acts.

The entire "structure" reflects the people, the land, sky, heaven, and God's throne. Its symbolic.

By the way, the four creatures around the throne in Revelation are the same symbol, but the differences reflect the Spirit as being "in" the people and not an external influencer. (No wheels, the eyes (spirit) are on the creatures)

This reflects the fulfillment of God's original plan, which is "God in us."
