Today was opening day for all of our motocross racing season....
Today we raced Arenacross (type of dirt bike race), during qualifying one of my little brothers friends tried to triple a section that no one had tripled yet... He cased it (crashed) and took a very rough one... The handle bars broke 2-3 ribs and punctured his lung... (Yes he was wearing full safety equipment: chest guard, kneck guard, helmet, boots, etc...)
The qualifying continued with my little brother coming 1st despite his best friend being on the ground in serious pain the whole race...
The medical technician on scene checked him out, and said he was clear with only the wind knocked out of him...
My mom(who is an EMT) took him to a back room, removed his shirt and found his chest was sinking in... She told the mother to rush him down to the hospital ASAP! (because an ambulance would arrive by the time he was dead...)
By the time he was in the E.R. he already had Tension Pneumothorax which is basically saying you have 30 minutes to live...
The doctors figured it out, and sent him to OR instantly...
I went to his room in the hospital and he is very very loopy from drugs....
Thank God my mom is an EMT that noticed something was seriously wrong, else he would have died in the parking lot because a moron cleared him because she thought he was just wanting attention....
Just pray Four things....
1.) That he can continue to race... His bio-father wants to sell his bike.. But his step-father says that it is the kids decision because this is what the kid loves most in life...
2.) That he has a speedy recovery.... The next race is in 5 weeks, so hopefully he will be healed by then...
3.) That this near death experience leads him too Christ.
4.) That girl starts taking her job seriously and stops clearing people who might die because they just crashed at 30+mph and fell 20+ feet at the same time.... And she thinks they just want attention...
