I'm having a real bad problem with controlling myself. I made a bad mistake and now I can't even seem to focus on whats good without feeling like crap. I tried to read the bible again the other day and when I read the words Christ and Lord a terrible feeling of lust and shame falls over me.

I seriously need help.

OK, so you slipped up and made a mistake, so now you've asked the Lord for His forgiveness (and so forth), well we all slip up at times so now that you've asked forgiveness, it is time to move on!

1) The "crap" feeling is NOT from God, when you hear those condemning accusing thoughts, they are NOT from God, but the Devil, you MUST robustly reject them! Rom 8v1 states: "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus..." So, stop agreeing with the Devil, reject the condemnation and confess God's word!

2) IF God NO longer remembers your sin, WHY SHOULD YOU! Heb 8v12 states: "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us for ALL sin! 1John 1v9, Rev 1v5

3) James 4v6-8 states: "But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." Get close to the Lord Jesus by prayer and reading the Scriptures, for by doing so you will be receiving God's Presence, grace and strength.

And finally, 1Cor 9v27, 10v13, 2Cor 12v9

Yahweh Shalom...

Truth is we can't control ourselves. That is why I ask God to send the Holy Spirit to live in me and take control, because I know I can never be good enough. But that is why Jesus died to save us from sin and death, when we repent and ask God to forgive us, God no longer sees our wrongs but the perfect life of Jesus.

When the woman was caught in adultery and her accusers had walked away after Jesus had written in the dirt, Jesus asked her where her accusers were and said neither do I condemn thee - go and sin no more. We can only do this through the power of Jesus.

When we make a mistake Satan stands ready to accuse us and makes us feel bad and that we can't go to God. He tries to make you not want to read the bible and to run and hide from God but rest assured that God has forgiven you, ask God to take control of your life and He who began a good work in you will continue to its completion.

Father I pray that you will be with SpaceCowboy, that You will send Your Holy Spirit to come into his heart and help him be an overcomer with Your strength. Help him to rest in You and Your love, please remove Satan and his temptations from SpaceCowboy in the area of lust. Give him peace in the knowledge that You have promised to be with him to the end of the world. That Jesus died for him and has given him victory over this sin that he just has to claim that victory in Jesus. Thank You for answering this prayer. in Jesus Name Amen

Caution. Adult dialoge. Viewer discretion advised.

The first thing I’m gong to do when I get to Heaven (ok, the second) is to seek out Adam. What the heck he was thinking, eating that fruit? Remember now - he was created naked, and woman likewise; and they ran around for God knows how long that way. It wasn’t until they ate that apple that they thought it was odd to be naked and covered up. (Please note that it took both of them. But, one simple rule, just don’t do this, and what does woman do? Initiate something we men then take responsibility for ;). But really, Adam, man, talk about blowing’ it in Biblical proportions. If you hadn’t eaten that apple, it wouldn't be wrong to look at pictures of people who are naked. The human body is, after all, God's greatest art form.

Oh that human body, that fallen flesh. God made it. All of it. Yeah, everything. Even that. And these. And here, there, and this little spot way under … giggle … All those wonderful nerve endings ... His design. Those organs, hormones and neural pathways, all with the sole purpose of making you want to become one with another… His design. Born naked ... His design.

All of which has been totally screwed under satan's authority. That which was so innocent has now become so vile. And our flesh, like a leash, drags us into that villainy. But what can we do, even when it's not being tempted by satan it's still flesh, fallen and opposed to God. The only way to be truly free of it is to be done with it. But that's not a choice we're supposed to make for ourselves.

So the battle is not to try and be rid of the urges (as the Borg say, resistance is futile), but to learn how to manage them. You must have a plan. That includes confessing your failures, and asking forgiveness. When you submit to a demon yanking on your leash, you empower it over you. Confession is the way you rebuke that. In God's mind, salvation forgiveness is a once for lifetime event, and the power of sin has no effect on it. But the power of sin in the here and now is that if you submit to an authority you're submitted to an authority... until you rebuke it. So bring it before God, confess what you got dirty in (again), and pray the Blood of Christ be poured out upon and within you for the cleansing it brings in both spirit and body. Pray the Holy Spirit be poured out upon you as well, filling your spirit to be stronger against the flesh. Be specific in your prayers. And confront the enemy and his minions who are going to use guilt and that flesh of yours. They're going to taunt and tease and do their best to entice you. Heck, they've built a global society around it. Be aware of that, and like the verse paraphrases, if your HBO causes you to sin then cut it off. That or your hand, but I'd try the HBO first :)

Know how I 'cured' my porn addiction? I came here. I told myself that when I was tempted, I would come here first, and that if 30 minutes later I was still worked up I'd go ahead. I'm still here. You should be too.

Spacecowboy, I agree 100% with JB's post. You made a mistake, it happens to each of us every single day. You need to admit your sin to God (if you have'nt already) and he will forgive you. Then its time to move on and not dwell on what happened. What you say you feel when you read the bible is not of or from God!!! Those lustful feelings come from Satan. We are given the power by Jesus to rebuke Satan in Jesus name. Read your bible out loud, say Jesus name and the devil will flee from you. He has to for he cannot stand to be in the presence of Jesus. When we rebuke Satan in Jesus name, we appear as Jesus to Satan, and he will run away as fast as he can. If you feel the need to rebuke him, say something like this: "Satan I command you in Jesus' name to leave me alone. I command you in Jesus' name to relinquish your hold on my thoughts and feelings. I command you in Jesus' name to get out of my life and out of my house. I command you in Jesus name to leave and return to hell!!"

Satan cannot negotiate to stay when he is commanded by you to leave. Try saying that prayer whenever you feel you need to. Say it loudly and walk through each room in your house and say it. Satan is very real, dont let him convince you otherwise. Jesus loves you and he will bring you through this. Exercise Jesus' power in you, and you will have peaceful, joyous thoughts when you read your bible from now on. :)

Spacecowboy, thats one of the struggles with sin, is when we do, it leaves an wound in our flesh for the thief to keep sticking and putting an accusing finger into the wound.
Dont let the thief have any access to the wound.
You know Jesus has forgiven you, so let His healing waters flow through you, pouring out overflowing, so satan not only cannot have access, but will no longer be able to find it. :)
Jesus has forgiven you, know this in faith and let Jesus overcome, sending a cascade of His flowing water to just wash the thief away! :)

You know where in scripture, when Jesus approached the posessed man, the demons said Lord what have we to do with you,we have no place with you.
They said this because Jesus was without sin, so there was no place for them to enter or bring torment.
Jesus lives in you now, in Him you are free from sin, rejoice in this and in faith, ignore any faulse accusation or torment the thief tries to bring. :)
You are in my prayers in Jesus, for the joy of His victory alive in you, and for His healing waters to pour out of any and all wounds.

God bless

Go figure: who does the 'whosoever' of John 3.16 refer to?

...and so those of us who love Him and trust Him need to keep 'looking unto Jesus; (Hebrews 12), right?
