I can barely type my hands are shaking so much.

I don't know what to do anymore. My relationship, while it is great at times, is going through a real tough time. I'm very stressed. I don't know where to turn. It's my partner. I'm trying to be supportive to him during his rough time, but nothing I say or do helps. I don't know what more I can do. I am really depressed and upset over it.

I know he is going through a very rough time, but clearly I can't help. And I'm so empty and upset and torn. I can't take much more.

Please help any way you can.

I don't know the details of the situation but maybe you are in fact helping him in some way. Maybe the best you can do is listen, I know often when I am going through something, just having someone listen when there is nothing else they can do is helpful for me. If you're like me, you want to somehow fix the problem to make it end but it sounds like you guys might have to just ride it out.

I wish I had some more biblical advice for you. I would ask the LORD every morning to help you through each day with your partner. Hopefully someone with more relational experience can help you more here.

These two sayings aren't Biblical, but they're true among us humans none the less:

Familiarity breeds contempt

Absence make the heart grow fonder

There comes a point where things are so tense that you're like cheese graters on each other, no matter what you say or do. (Which sounds like the point your shaky fingers are at :). At that point there's only one thing to do (after praying) - get and give some space. Take a break, a recess, break the cycle by not giving it the opportunity to continue. It's better to love from across the room than to growl face to face, if you get my drift.

Give him the space to figure things out. Give him the opportunity to come to you for help, instead of bombarding him with help he may not be wanting to have at the moment. If he's throwing up walls he's feeling crowded. It's only the things in the near distance that we reach out for. Give him the chance to reach out instead of push away.

And give yourself a chance to rest.

Praying for you. And all like you. Sadly you are in huge group these days. May the Lord come rescue us all from that real soon.
