How are we going to know what God wants us to do during these last days if we don't hear from Him. We need to hear from God. We need Prophets. Pray that God raises up prophets who will speak for Him.

WRONG there's not any prophets anymore, they were back in the days when Jesus walked the earth.Psalm 74:9 says "We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long". Prophets were back when Jesus walked the earth, and gave them messages straight from Himself and from God the Father. He spoke with them face to face, and as Jesus isn't here on earth, but seated on the right hand side of God the Father in heaven, there's no possible way there's any prophets around. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's what God's word says. We all go and witness and testify yes, we share the gospel of Christ yes, but NO ONE has seen Jesus face to face, and He's not walking the earth anymore, so that's how it is.

quick note: God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit...not like He use to, He spoke to His Son Jesus, and then Jesus spoke face to face with the prophets, and so on...now God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit.

I believe that God wants to have an intimate relationship with all of us. It is sin that seperates us from God. I believe that if our hands and hearts are clean, then and only then will God not withhold anything from us. Not even his voice.

God speaks to us in so many ways through his word which is a biggie, but also through curcumstances, the Word is written upon the table of our hearts even if you dont read a bible or cant access a bible, Praise God for His wonderful ways, I believe the Holy Spirit keeps speaking and teaching us about Gods His Son, Who our salvation is through, for our faith!!!

Corinthians-2 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
Corinthians-2 3:3 [Forasmuch as ye are] manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart.

John-1 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

Hi Elijah3,
Prophets are still speaking for God. We also have apostles, evangelists, pastors and teachers. They are in the body of believers. Ministries are at God's discretion and according to what the need is.

Prophets do more than foretell events. You may be focusing on that way too much. To the point you are missing the prophets around you. They also tell us when we are messing up. Sometimes they are not the most popular people. They can also give us the mind of God. If there are hard words to say, God will send a prophet. I know for myself, I have had some very difficult things to say this year. I'll give you a few samples:

"These are hard words to say to you. He doesn't love you. He never did."
"Get up and move on."
"If you're looking for a Godly husband, you have to get out of your apartment. He's not going to come knocking on your door because you live in a secure building."
"Get up and fight."
"You have to get out of yourself. Come out of it. It's time to recover. Get over it."
"Would you please wake up and come out of your slumber."

Some of this may seem cold or excessive, but the words were what each person needed to hear at that moment. It's what God said to say to help each person. This is the tip of the iceberg. This doesn't include some of the spiritual warfare stuff.

Harriet Tubman inspires me. She was strong; she didn't sugarcoat it; and she got the job done. You have to look at where God has placed the prophet and what the need is in that body of believers. Who knows in these end times maybe God's people will need prophets with grit and strength.

God bless,
Mary O.

I believe god can speak to us in which ever way he wants..... I never put god in a box.. if he wants to paint a sign for me that says GO THIS WAY... i believe he can or will if he wants to let random words come out of someone elses mouth that god himself gave that person..i believe he can........... basically i believe god can do anything he wants

It's funny how so many THINK they know when the world will end, and not even Jesus knows that, only God the Father knows.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you don't have a clue and it shows.
If you read the whole of Psalm 74 you will see that it is referring to a symptom of God's rejection of His people. Lack of prophecy/prophets is a sign of God's judgement, not how things should be.

There is prophecy available to all who have the Spirit according to the promise of the outpouring of the Spirit (Joel).

This may not make them a prophet as in the sense of Elijah , Jeremiah etc, but by virtue of them prophesying that makes them a prophet.

All who declare the Gospel are prophets because they are not only speaking of things that have passed but of things to come (judgement, resurrection, return of Christ etc).

the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (rev 19:10).

God has ALWAYS spoken through old testament prophets through and by His Spirit. Recommend you get an education and actually read the bible for yourself instead of your own theories or favourite preachers/church

1Sa 10:6 And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

No sir, YOU are WRONG, I do read the Bible as well, I don't just make up thories...you don't know me or my heart, so you need to just stop acting as though you do...you need to stop insulting others as well, you've already been warned by mods before about that. I don't have a favorite preacher or church either. only person and thing I follow is Christ, and God's word.Anyhow, here's two links proving what I said. Read them and see for yourself.

http://www.gotquestions.org/prophets-today.html

http://www.gotquestions.org/apostles-prophets-restored.html

key word(s) there is this the gift of prophet was a TEMPORARY gift.

Read for yourself, that's God's word, and you can't argue with it, you need to have more respect for others as well. Stop personally attacking others for no reason, especially when you don't even know them.

sorry if my comments appeard insulting Stand-Up, but I was a little angered. I really think you showed lack of respect by hijacking a prayer thread in post #3 to speak against the request for prayer, coupled with your condescending remarks to the original poster "sorry to burst your bubble".

Gotquestions.org is right to its opinion but it is not always a reliable source. I go to God's Word alone, not even those websites you consult. Their interprection of the verses they present is lacking. As was your faulty interpretation of Psalm 74.

Stand up For God is right. The last prophet in the Bible was John the Beloved on Patmos. This is one of the reasons i'm not going to come here as much anymore. Leaven of Pentecostalism.

Good for you CIR22, then that's one less person who have to be telling us what's what about these things even to hijacking prayer threads, when you simply don't have a clue. BTW I'm not a pentecostal but Prophets and prophecy has existed throughout Church history. Most people however have a problem with listening to God and what He has to say through specially chosen people.

Look up what's known as a Jezebel spirit , people who are against God's prophecy/prophets, often are under the influence of such a thing.

I didn't hijack anything, but I simply said what the Bible says, you have your beliefs and I have mine, that's fine, I repsect that. I do know what I"m talking about as well, so you shouldn't set there and say I don't, no matter if you agree or disagree.

You claim to have said what the bible says, with a) a verse taken out of context from Psalms, and b) a series of gotquestions.org references. That doesn't constitute proof in my book.

I know there are two main beliefs in Christianity, a) prophecy is for today and still exists, b) prophecy is not for today and still exists. Yet that still does not ignore the fact that if you had respect for the beliefs of people who believe in a), you wouldn't have burst in with a statement " WRONG there's not any prophets anymore"

I wonder if would you do that for people who ask for prayer for healing, and say "WRONG, God doesn't heal people anymore, He gave us doctors" ..
I would hope not.

If you don't call that hijacking then I call it plain rudeness.
