Hey MMD, it's not unusual to find some cancer left. It's very hard to remove every bit of cancer from the brain, as they can't destroy all of a tumour; the docs can only take out so much, otherwise the brain would be destroyed.
This is a hard road your friend has to face. The chemo & RT will be hard on his body, but it is very effective. Just give him lots of support and encouragement, and listen to him when he needs to talk.

My prayer for Joe:
Loving Father, You have supported Joe thus far in this, the struggle of his life. Banish this brain tumour, obliterate it from every cell in Joe's body, and restore him to full, functional health. Amen.

My SIL had a very aggressive form of breast cancer, had a left mastectomy, chemo & RT. Her cancer came back later with metastases in different organs. Her oncologist told her that if the next lot of chemo etc didn't work, she should make her final plans. She even picked out a coffin. She was very religious and had her whole congregation pray. Miraculously, she has beat it to this day, though she isn't out of the 5 year safe zone yet.

Tell Joe to never give up & to keep fighting!! :)
