Mathew 6:6

" But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

This jumped out at me one day, and changed my prayerlife forever.

I just read this last night.
I love it when God does mass teaching!
This is a good scripture, I have struggled alot about posting that I will pray, as I believe that our works should be silent.
But I also believe that the comfort of support is just as important.
Sigh, I just have to let the Holy Spirit lead in this.
God bless, pickles

Oh Holydave,
I Love God's Word...(He) is Alive and brings Life...Sometimes it takes what it takes to get us there. I'm so grateful that He draws us and that we are drawn to Him...I know I am-more hungry and thirsty than ever. He hasn't let me go not one minute for many years now...When I first began to live this particular verse was when my daddy called me for prayer. Oh my...I had to really find out what had been put in me. I went after "The Healer" after that call...He changed my life forever...Read what was just literally supernaturally revealed to me to read on The Holy Spirit...Going to the Intercessory Prayer Meetings at church. Every day I got on my knees here at home with Worship music and I prayed. With a prayer shawl over my head-which really we can go beyond the veil without it but I just love being under my telith (spelling? Hahaha). It gets harder to go there now that my daughter is older. She is quite the handful at times. Hahaha. But I have been allowed to go to that "secret place". A place that does have The Peace that passes all understanding. When we really can get "out" of ourselves...it is glorious!!! It's not about us at all but being used for His Purpose and Glory...Oh my... Then I learned something that transformed me completely. I am but a vessel for The Holy Spirit. For The Spirit prays through me. It's not just me praying anymore. I wait upon Him...which has a perfect work (patience) waiting for Him...and let The Holy Spirit pray...for I know not what I should pray most of the time. He knows completely. He knows the will of The Father completely. I have continued to experience the deepness of prayer. And to learn...That My Father hears me when I pray. I've heard others say this and it's true of me: I wish I was a better scholar of the Word. Or mainly that I could remember each Book, Chapter and Verse. Hahaha...But I can't...all I know is that what I believe can be backed up with scripture if I could just remember where it was or find it again. There have even been times that something has come out of my mouth and way later I found it in The Bible...Oh dear me...He knew me before I was even born. I believe it with everything in me. I am beginning to love beyond love these forums. Put a worship CD in the computer and type...I am really confessing one to another when I do this. Thank You, Lord...Creator...I worship and adore You...forever and ever. I also love it when He reveals "mysteries" to His children. Well once again...It's so hard to shut up...Hahaha

Prayer can be done in private and public. It really comes down to heart of a believer.

How do we teach our children to pray when we only pray to God by ourselves?

There is a balance to prayer in both private and public (some discussion of this can be found Public Prayer | Learn The Bible)

I respect people who do not feel comfortable to pray outlound and trust that they still pray in private. And I hear some peoples prayers and wonder if they truly mean the prayers with their heart or if they are doing it for a show. God see's the heart, It is He not me that answers these prayers. I encourage and ask people to work on both prayer aspects. I have seen many peoples spirits comforted when they ask for prayer and someone prays with them right then and there out loud, and sometimes in silence.

I do thank you for bringing this up so people will see and learn and grow in their knowledge of God and how best to worship, pray, fellowship with Him.
