Fair enough, growing up in Nigeria santa was a thing but we all knew he was a character from hollywood. I loved him though and we would go take picutures with him every year and my mum would dress me up in a santa costume :D Moving to Europe at the age of 11, I realized how kids were so innocent and deceived.

Yeah, parents deceiving their kids like that i's a bit messed up if you think about it, although I'm sure it's well intentioned. Well, at least there's a shred of a connection between Santa and the historical figure of Saitn Nicholas of Myra amidst all that other nonsense. Perhaps that should be reclaimed more strongly somehow.

Yes, during Christmas we do study a little history, we look into St Nicholas and with teens we look into how Cocacola turned him into ''father Christmas'' :D
One day we were talking about fictional characters in a 4th grade class, I told them that the tooth fairy doesn't exist, expecting them to have known as they already knew santa was a lie. Well, a mum called the school to complain that her 9 y/o was heart broken
