Thanks for your post. You are right, it's very common on this site to believe you can forfeit salvation. And yea it puts a new believer on edge.. makes them uncertain rather than assured and confident in Christ. Anyway, blessings. I may not be much longer on this site either

How would it not be solid teaching to teach the bible expositionally? Verse by verse? The best way to understand the bible is that way. In context. Do you mean there was little emotional content?

    Much study weariness of flesh??

It's not saying don't study the Word, obviously. But going deeply into scripture, does wary at times. Imagine trying to memorise the Levitical laws in the OT. Not that you have to do this. Same goes for the geneologies at the start of Mathew etc

Well, when the disciples were empowered in Acts 2.. Jesus called this being baptised by the Holy Spirit and fire. They were converted, believers before this happened. Then it repeats in Acts to whole groups. Already converted believers gathered, that are empowered by the Holy Spirit... As a...

I'm not in rebellion.. sin grieves me. But the grace of Jesus never leaves so I can get back up again. So then sin in undone. Do you see how osas works? Since sin doesn't undo salvation... We can flee from it. We aren't on a mouse wheel of effort. If we have to keep a level of...

Yeah, this is such a subtle thing. I mean.. you look at the 4 spiritual laws booklet and it has receiving Christ as Saviour.. it has believing He died and rose again.. it has asking for forgiveness of your sins. The difference comes when what it is meant by turning from sin and putting Jesus...

Yeah . . Like I posted before, the second tract from them, if you struggle with sin.. is 'putting Jesus back on the throne' .. so they assume to start with you are committing to your own effort in making Him Lord over every area of your life.

Yes, so this is just one verse though. Take it out of the paragraph and book it is in and it can mean anything. Compare it with all the loads of verses.. pretty much the entire book of John. That gives the real picture. It's got to be in context

Again using the devil's believe comparison is off. Devils never entrust their salvation with Jesus. Of course someone still entrusts their salvation with Jesus. That is plain.. in Romans 10:9-10 as you say. My point is there is no work in confession and trusting. That's all happening at...

Ok.. what is wrong with a commitment to Jesus of good works at salvation is first.. that's coming from you... Not from Jesus... Second .. if you fail in that commitment after salvation.. then what? Never saved in the first place? Lost salvation? That is what is wrong with the commitment...

Salvation is knowing you can do nothing of yourself to be saved. The changed life comes after. It's not a commitment to good works.. it's an acknowledgement you are a sinner and need deliverance. There will be fruit from salvation happening of course.. but that fruit isn't what caused it

That is the thing, is at salvation they tend to promote making a promise to Jesus of a changed life from themselves. The turning from sin.. from themselves. So the salvation is conditional on performance from THEM. This is the problem. This is the issue.

    Spiritual gifts: Unconfusing them

Well.. but it's got be something objectively, not subjectively true. It's got to line up with God's Word. Otherwise it could be no different to the speaking in tongues of polytheistic religions.

There is being convicted and coming to learn Jesus is God..that He died and rose again.. coming to faith in Him. I agree with that.. but the salvation point isn't when they started searching or when they were sad for their sin. It's solely when they believed on Jesus Christ. No more no less...

True true. .. what I'm getting at is challenging someone on their salvation.. based on their works. When getting saved in the first place hadn't anything to do with works. That's what the likes of MacArthur, Comfort and also Paul Washer will do. Of course there are false converts .. who...

God commands us to do good works after salvation.. but the good works don't attain salvation. They can't.. because sin remains in us no matter what we do before or after salvation. We can reduce sin in our lives after salvation of course.. and that is what God wants.. but it's all about Him...

Okay.. well these are the likes that will decry the sinners prayer because the person that prayed isn't exhibiting good works. So they are saying good works are part of salvation. The 4 Spiritual laws booklet does this from Campus crusade.. even tho they have the sinners prayer. It's the...
