Have churches become too reliant on recovery programs and psychology/psychiatry?

I believe in daemons but I do not address them. For me it is to cling to Jesus the Christ. I have seen the daemon excuse used to not love the suffering. If one loses a family, their job and their church rejects them, their suffering might be so great as to cause suicide. They are to be prayed...

Have churches become too reliant on recovery programs and psychology/psychiatry?

Sometimes the Depression is due to losses and suffering, and sometimes it is biochemical, as in Bipolar folk. I agree that the church has not been a supportive as it could have been. The LGBT, in my opinion, not for us to judge. I don't advocate it but I am not God to see into their hearts.

The truth about Muhammad "Feedback appreciated"

Is it the Yusuf Ali Interpretation? The original Qur'an is in classical Arabic and everything else is an interpretation. I am not sure that they are. If Allah SWT could not have Isa PBUH as a son, how could he have daughters?

The truth about Muhammad "Feedback appreciated"

That is pre-Islamic. According to my lessons, the Arabs worshipped many Gods before Muhammad PBUH put a stop to it. I know most about the Sunni. The Shia are another matter.

Have churches become too reliant on recovery programs and psychology/psychiatry?

I once knew an Ethiopian woman who insisted that their church was superior to other churches and they were like the first churches. She even stated that they have the Ark of the Covenant. Hmmm Their Bible is written in Amharic which she felt is better than modern Bibles. Due to Covid, I am like...

The truth about Muhammad "Feedback appreciated"

The sole issue I have with Muslims is how they view Isa (PBUH), yet it is marginally understandable. Muhammad PBUH knew Christians and Jews, yet decided to go his own way. I do not see a lot of difference between Muslims, Christians and Jews otherwise. Their thinking is that Allah SWT is the...

Christian retired person turned fiction writer whose faith journey has been wide ranging

Looking into the beliefs of SW Native Americans, I don't see much conflict between them and the words of Jesus the Christ. Some of us feel entitled to badger others to become just like us. That makes me sad.

Oh, I found it. It is like a mass data dump. I'm going to try to print it so it is easy to study.

Have churches become too reliant on recovery programs and psychology/psychiatry?

So much of the "Christian" vocabulary makes me uneasy and seems crazy or retarded. I was deeply involved in Christianity and made missionary trips. Perhaps Decompression Sessions should have been available when we returned? The stress was really soul wrenching. When I had my breakdown, the...

Have churches become too reliant on recovery programs and psychology/psychiatry?

For me to tell more would be over sharing and unwise. I've experienced overmedication for a short time. Finally in 2008 I started to titrate off them. I'm very reluctant about drugs now. Sometimes you survive really awful things and it takes time to recover.

Allow for the possibility that Doctors and Medications ARE God's solution.

Have churches become too reliant on recovery programs and psychology/psychiatry?

Just my opinion here: Often we need to listen to people express their pain and try to be compassionate. Just shoving them away and saying Jesus will fix it is so cold and uncaring.

Have churches become too reliant on recovery programs and psychology/psychiatry?

Certain organizations are quite medication oriented to the point that I think it becomes destructive. Some combinations of drugs can exacerbate Depression, and Gender issues. Drugs are often not the best remedy. Sometimes reaching into our past and following the words of Jesus the Christ in...

Have churches become too reliant on recovery programs and psychology/psychiatry?

Yes, in a perfect world that can happen. Sometimes these folk are left sterile and sexless. And, at times the brain is so confused about identity. I've seen this and it is painful and sad.

There is a term that labels what the pioneers did to Native Americans. They felt that God gave them the right to invade North America and eradicate the inhabitants. In case after case, missionaries came into Indian lands and did their best to destroy their beliefs and give them Jesus. They felt...

Have you ever encountered an Intersex person? How did you treat them? We'd like to thin, that people are strictly male or female but that is not true.
