Does the Tanakh teach how Cain killed Abel? A simple case study of contextual analysis and probability.

All I can say is that I posted the links to the definitions that biblical scholars have appointed to words and Cain’s name is spelled exactly the same as Spear and sounds similar to ( not spelled the same ) as to obtain. And Cain did treat Abel almost as if he was a sacrifice in place of what...

Does the Tanakh teach how Cain killed Abel? A simple case study of contextual analysis and probability.

Part of the issue may be early scholars using the Septuagint and confusing the phonetically similar phrases. I lined it out a bit more in my response with the links the actual words.

Does the Tanakh teach how Cain killed Abel? A simple case study of contextual analysis and probability.

For me my assumptions have to be based one a few things. 1. Abel was called Abel before he was murdered by Cain and yet Abel’s name means “like vapor” implying short lived. 2. Hebrew was not the first language. By the the time genesis was wrote, it was thousands of years after the events...

    BioLogos?

Why do you believe natural selection would have dropped the eye? There are many less “evolved” eyes and organs in general throughout the animal kingdom that a species functions perfectly well with.

    BioLogos?

Debunked? Lol..... no. 99% of them are never fairly quickly find their place in proper taxonomic clade. Also micro and macro evolution is the same thing. Micro evolution is the beginning changes moving towards subspecies of the same genus and through the same process they move towards becoming...

    Hello.

It’s a real mushroom. Amanita species. Most likely the A. muscaria ( fly agaric ) but it may be the “peach fly agaric” whose name ive forgotten atm. Mycology is a hobby that I really enjoy. Mostly on the mushroom hunting side for edibles but I also enjoy studying out fungi diseases entering USA...

    BioLogos?

I definitely see tons of evidence for evolution. Micro evolution and macro evolution are both the same process of natural selection. We see tons of evidence genetically and through the fossil record. One of the simplest arguments is the strata ( geological layers ) where we see species only...

    lIBERALISM

I’ve always found this quote I saw years ago funny that relates to this. “Liberalism is self hatred and conservatism is the hatred of others.“ Xd

    BioLogos?

I am a big fan of the work being produced by BioLogos a Christian organization led by scientists and founded by Francis Collins, one of the worlds leading geneticists who was the NHI appointed director by Obama and lead the Human Genome Project. Their organization is focused on harmonizing God...

    What are you listening to?

I actually don’t listen to a lot of Christian music. I don’t listen to very much music in general except when I am running or biking along the street. When hiking in nature I tend to listen predominantly to nothing but the sounds of life. I really enjoy nature and studies have shown that our...

Does the Tanakh teach how Cain killed Abel? A simple case study of contextual analysis and probability.

Part of his name sounds like to obtain. But it’s not actually his name. It’s. Similar sounding root word. Eve says something similar about Seth as well. https://biblehub.com/hebrew/7014.htm If you go to the two reference marks it shows the play on the word for both phrases. It’s similar to...

Does the Tanakh teach how Cain killed Abel? A simple case study of contextual analysis and probability.

Personally I think the story shows that Cain was upset because his offering was rejected. We can only assume based off of later verses that the offering should have been a sin offering since God accused Cain of sinning and said if he does well he will feel better. Another commonly missed...

Does the Tanakh teach how Cain killed Abel? A simple case study of contextual analysis and probability.

Well I’m not denying why Cain killed Abel but hoping to help answer how. In films it’s traditionally this view that he did it from behind with a rock or something. But I feel scripture says otherwise and that it’s not something without clues.

    Please help me

I’m sorry that you are feeling like everything is falling apart. When we are stressed it’s almost like we put on these special glasses that only show us the hardest most hopeless path. A analogy I often use is that a person is standing at the base of a cliff and needs to reach the top. When...

Does the Tanakh teach how Cain killed Abel? A simple case study of contextual analysis and probability.

When you ask most people does the Bible teach how Cain murdered Abel the typical response is no. However; by teasing out the literary knowledge lost to many we can get a deeper understanding of the final moments. It’s tucked away in the original language in two main ways. The first is the...

    Hello.

Just curious to see what this place is like. I enjoy forums but was hoping to find the app for iPhones. I am a big science nerd. Especially interested in evolutionary ecology. I understand that some are literalists and that I may be the oddball out. But theology is important and fascinating to...
