Yup, your boring job might be your “thorn”..and you pray to God to remove the thorn like Paul. But the Lord doesn’t remove the thorn but changes your heart towards the job. Once you are happy with the job and excel, then God probably gets you a new job because you’re ready.

It takes a level of spiritual maturity. Most aren’t there, so they feel what they feel and they probably also don’t pray enough.
