Will The Actual Calvinists Here Please Stand Up?

Yeah. It’s a message for mature believers. There are a lot of believers who have difficulty examining many traditions.

I prefer believer. Although brother, son of God, and saint are fine, too. Most people just use my first name. ;) We must understand, believing is the de facto reality for man: they were created to believe. Unbelief is the opposite of belief. You will not find "non-believer" in the scriptures...

Will The Actual Calvinists Here Please Stand Up?

Is syntax difficult for you? "Christian" was never used to describe believers. It's what Romans in Antioch called saints. What 1 Peter means is to not be ashamed when they call you a Christian as they persecute you... just glorify God that they associate you with Him.

Will The Actual Calvinists Here Please Stand Up?

The issue with “believer” was present during the writing of the New Testament, yet Luke and Paul used the word to describe those in Christ. The writers of the NT used and recorded many words for people who worshipped Christ: believers, saints, sons of God, children of God, brothers, elder, the...

Will The Actual Calvinists Here Please Stand Up?

You’re calling it a synonym. “Christian” was coined by the Romans. It was the Roman church that adopted its use to describe all believers. This was done to distinguish them from followers of other philosophers and mystics in their polytheistic society. This was the way of Rome. Ultimately, it...

Will The Actual Calvinists Here Please Stand Up?

So, “Christian” was never used in the greeting or valediction of any epistle. The word was never used within any NT book as a greeting between one believer or another nor was it used as an adjective to describe the activity of believers.

The tradition was to call followers of philosophers after the name of the philosopher. So the people in Antioch just followed tradition when they labeled the believers as “Christians”. Peter’s use of it was specific to persecution. He was saying “Even when they persecute you as a “Christian”...

Child of God, dear one, brother, saint, elder, or any other greeting they used in their epistles.

I actually see his point: The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. That word was only used by Peter and by Luke in Acts. Peter uses the word to write this: "Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter." which I understand to...

Do you believe John 6 is about the last supper?

The bread and wine are symbols of the work of Christ for our behalf. So, in a way, yes, this passage references the Lord’s Supper. But just to be clear, the bread and wine aren’t magical: alone, they confer no grace to the taker. Eating the bread and drinking the wine also serve as a witness to...

    Why was Cain's offer rejected?

I mean, if you can’t see the implication of being covered by the skin of a sacrificed animal, I don’t know what to tell you…

GRACE VS LAW OR GRACE WITH LAW ?

Dude. You mean for nearly all of the New Testament? How are we to know whether to "shout from the roof tops" or to "go into our rooms and shut the door" if not for the Spirit? It's all Biblical but the Word is never preached in season without those who are sent to preach it. The alternative...

    Why was Cain's offer rejected?

Even from the text we can see that Adam and Eve first constructed coverings from leaves. But the Lord provided coverings from the skin of animals. There was a change in economy signaled by this work of the Lord.

    Understanding God’s election

This kind of language (fathers and sons) is rare in the church today. But God is restoring it to those who understand its implications. After Rome's influence, succession was based on title. Rome structured the church after its own government. Christ established succession based upon...

    Climate Change and the Lord

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be...

    Why don't u attend a church ?

I was led out of a Sunday box over 20 years ago. Since then many of us meet together at our homes or in a rented building. As an elder in the area, I connect with many of the saints multiple times a week. If we can't meet personally, I use Zoom to gather everyone together. COVID really didn't...

GRACE VS LAW OR GRACE WITH LAW ?

You should not make assumptions. You are wrong on all accounts. "Systematic Bible study" is how we get false doctrines like 7th Day Adventists. The practice begins with "We can figure this out ourselves using logic and reason and our knowledge of language". It's bereft of the need for the...

GRACE VS LAW OR GRACE WITH LAW ?

Jesus, Paul, Peter, and John proof-texted all the time. You can do that when you’ve walked with the Living God for some time. What we need is for believers to recognize the spirit-filled elders in their midst. No elder is pushing systematic Bible study. That only answers what the Word says...
